Player Outlook
Moore failed to live up to his Fantasy hype in 2022 and even finished outside the WR2 range (WR33 overall) while dealing with arguably the worst quarterback play of his career. You can look no further than Moore's catchable target rate (90th-best) to know what kind of quarterback play he dealt with last season from Baker Mayfield to Sam Darnold. However, there is no certainty he'll get a major upgrade with Justin Fields. It remains to be seen whether Fields can take a big jump as a passer, and these two will have to build rapport from scratch. Even then, Chicago figures to be a run-first offense. It will be very important to monitor how fast Fields and Moore get on the same page in camp. If they can develop chemistry early, Moore could emerge as a high-end WR2 and pay off in Rounds 4-5.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Scores TD in garbage time

Moore had three receptions on six targets for 41 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 41-10 loss to Kansas City. Moore cashed in his first touchdown with the Bears on the team's final offensive drive of an ugly loss Sunday. Garbage-time scores count all the same in fantasy, giving the wideout his second consecutive quality line after going for 104 yards last week. He did leave a chunk of yards on the table on a deep pass attempt from Justin Fields that was dropped by the normally sure-handed receiver. Moore will draw a tough matchup against shutdown corner Patrick Surtain when the Bears face the Broncos next Sunday.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Quiet Bears debut

Moore finished with two catches on two targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Packers. Moore was held in check in his Bears debut, with five teammates garnering more looks than him in the passing game. To his credit, Moore hauled in the only pair of throws his way, but he nonetheless failed to make a meaningful impact in his first game with quarterback Justin Fields. Chicago's top offseason addition will strive to make a bigger splash in Week 2 while facing a Tampa Bay secondary he knows well from his time in Carolina.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Makes another big play

Moore caught one of two targets for 40 yards in Saturday's preseason game against Buffalo. Moore had his second long catch-and-run of the preseason, following a 62-yard TD on a screen pass a couple weeks prior. QB Justin Fields also has familiar teammates WR Darnell Mooney and TE Cole Kmet as receiving weapons, but there's no doubt about Moore being the top option heading into a tricky Week 1 matchup with a Green Bay defense that has the option of using CB Jaire Alexander (groin/foot) in shadow coverage.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Scores in Chicago preseason debut

Moore caught his only target for a 62-yard touchdown in Saturday's preseason game against Tennessee. Moore was an after-the-catch monster both at Carolina in the NFL and at Maryland in college, so the skills he demonstrated on his 62-yard screen pass touchdown were nothing new. It certainly is something new for the Chicago offense, however, and provides a direct example of how the Bears offense could be significantly improved in 2023. Plays like that are a reminder of why Moore will likely be Chicago's lead target in 2023, and with considerable distance between himself and whichever second-leading pass catcher emerges.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Chemistry with Fields improving

Bears QB Justin Fields said Thursday that his chemistry with Moore has "come on quickly" in recent weeks, ESPN's Courtney Cronin reports. Moore called the connection "a work in progress" at the start of OTAs in May, two months after the Bears traded for him as part of a deal that sent Carolina the No. 1 overall pick. It sounds like he and Fields have made progress this spring, with the QB mentioning Thursday that he's been impressed by Moore's ability to recognize different coverages. The 26-year-old wideout joins an offense that was last in the league for pass attempts and passing yardage last year, but there's hope for a big step forward with Fields entering his third pro season after the Bears added Moore and rookie OT Darnell Wright (10th overall pick) this spring.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Bound for Chicago

The Bears agreed Friday to acquire Moore and four draft picks from the Panthers in exchange for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Along with Moore, the Bears will receive the Nos. 9 and 61 overall picks in this year's draft, a 2024 first-round pick and a 2025 second-round selection. Moore, who caught 63 passes for 888 yards and seven touchdowns in 17 games for the Panthers in 2022, should serve as Chicago's top wideout this coming season, while Carolina is now in position to take a quarterback first overall next month.

  • Panthers' DJ Moore: Quiet in finale

Moore caught one of three targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 10-7 win over the Saints. Moore closed with another underwhelming output due to Carolina's poor quarterback play, as Sam Darnold completed merely five passes for 43 yards while throwing a pair of picks. After three straight 1,000-yard campaigns, Moore finishes this season with just 888 yards in 17 games. While his 63 catches and 117 targets both marked lows since his rookie year as well, Moore at least compensated by scoring a personal-best seven times. Although it's unclear who will be throwing him passes next season, Moore figures to remain atop the Panthers' wide-receiver depth chart, giving him a solid floor despite dealing with Carolina's quarterback carousel the past couple campaigns.

  • Panthers' D.J. Moore: WRs to Start

Imagine what could have been for Moore if he just had Sam Darnold at quarterback all year. That sounds funny, but Moore has been awesome with Darnold, scoring at least 18 PPR points in four of five starts. Moore is coming off his best game with Darnold in Week 17 at Tampa Bay when he had six catches for 117 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets, and the Saints have allowed five receivers in their past four games to score at least 13 PPR points.

  • Panthers' DJ Moore: Eclipses century mark in loss

Moore brought in six of 10 targets for 117 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers' 30-24 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday. Moore paced the Panthers in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the afternoon while recording a touchdown for his third straight game. The fourth-year pro's 24-yard scoring grab midway through the second quarter gave Carolina a 14-0 lead at the time and pushed his career-high tally to seven, while the 100-yard effort was his fourth of the campaign. Moore's late-season rapport with Sam Darnold is certainly encouraging, and he'll aim to put a strong cap to the season in Week 18 against the Saints on the road.

  • Panthers' D.J. Moore: WRs to Start

Moore might have actually had a good season in 2022 if Sam Darnold was his quarterback, and the two have played well together over the past four games. Moore has three games with at least 18 PPR points over that span, and he has consecutive outings with at least six targets, five catches, 73 yards and a touchdown against the Steelers and Lions. In Week 7 against Tampa Bay, Moore had seven catches for 69 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets from P.J. Walker, and you should trust Moore again in the rematch in Week 17 on the road thanks to Darnold. The Buccaneers have also allowed six receivers to score at least 13 PPR points in their past three games against San Francisco, Cincinnati and Arizona.

  • Panthers' DJ Moore: Finds end zone in win

Moore secured five of seven targets for 83 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers' 37-23 win over the Lions on Saturday. Moore led the Panthers in receptions, receiving yards and targets during the momentous win, making his biggest impact with a five-yard touchdown grab early in the third quarter that was immediately preceded by his 47-yard grab. Moore now has back-to-back five-grab, one-touchdown efforts and should once again play a pivotal role in a critical Week 17 road battle versus the Buccaneers on Sunday, Jan. 1.

  • Panthers' D.J. Moore: WRs to Start

We haven't been fond of Moore often this season since he's been a bust for the majority of the year, but he is worth using as a No. 2 Fantasy receiver this week in the majority of leagues. The Lions are No. 2 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers, and 11 receivers have scored at least 13 PPR points against Detroit in the past five games alone. Moore has scored at least 18 PPR points in two of three games with Sam Darnold at quarterback, and Moore should have another productive outing in this matchup at home.

  • Panthers' D.J. Moore: Flex Starter (Lineup Decisions)

If you start Moore, you're banking on his target share remaining at a dominant level, and you're banking on his matchup against a very bad Lions pass defense. Tack on that weather doesn't figure to be an issue, and you've got a flex receiver with a little more upside this week than Mike Evans, Diontae Johnson, Amari Cooper and Chris Olave.

  • Panthers' DJ Moore: Likely to play Sunday

Moore (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Steelers, is expected to play, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Per Fowler, Moore had a productive week of practice and is thus trending toward suiting up versus Pittsburgh, though the wideout's status is nonetheless worth confirming. Fortunately for those inclined to use Moore in Week 15 fantasy lineups, the Panthers kick off among the early wave of Sunday games at 1 p.m. ET.

  • Panthers' D.J. Moore: WRs to Sit

Moore (ankle) practiced in full Wednesday and should be fine for Week 15 against the Steelers, but I would only start him in three-receiver leagues. He played 96 percent of the snaps in Week 14 at Seattle before getting hurt but managed no catches on three targets, and he's now scored six PPR points or less in four of his past five games. We'll see if the Panthers have to be more aggressive throwing the ball this week after Sam Darnold attempted just 24 passes at Seattle, but this should be a low-scoring affair with plenty of running. Pittsburgh also has allowed just two touchdowns to opposing receivers since T.J. Watt returned from his pectoral injury in Week 10.

  • Panthers' D.J. Moore: Sit Him (Lineup Decisions)

If you start Moore, you're hoping he connects on a deep target or two and scores. He was close last week, but his recent track record is troubling. This is an offense that doesn't mind running the ball a lot, and they could end up having their way against the Steelers. I don't feel good about starting Moore and would rather go with volume-driven receivers in pass-favorable matchups like Darius Slayton, D.J. Chark and Donovan Peoples-Jones.

  • Panthers' DJ Moore: Questionable after limited practice

Moore (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh after downgrading to limited practice participation Friday, David Newton of ESPN.com reports. Reports following last week's win over Seattle suggested Moore suffered a minor knee sprain late in the game, but he was then listed on the practice reports with an ankle injury and managed full participation Wednesday and Thursday. The end-of-week downgrade suggests a real concern, with coach Steve Wilks acknowledging Friday that Moore is a game-time decision as the team prepares for a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, per Augusta Stone of the Panthers' official site. Wilks did say he hoped to know more Saturday -- perhaps a hint that reports on Moore's availability will come before Sunday morning.

  • Panthers' DJ Moore: No limitations in practice

Moore (ankle) was a full practice participant Wednesday. Moore reportedly suffered a minor knee sprain during Sunday's loss to Seattle, and he finished the game without a catch despite playing 96 percent of snaps on offense. Starting the week with a full practice suggests the injury might not bother him this Sunday against Pittsburgh, though interim head coach Steve Wilks said the Panthers want to see how Moore feels Thursday before deciding on his status, per Joe Person of The Athletic.

  • Panthers' DJ Moore: Dressed for practice

Moore (knee) is on the field for practice Wednesday, David Newton of ESPN.com reports. Moore seemingly received good news from the MRI he underwent Monday and may be dealing with a minor knee sprain. He played 96 percent of Carolina's offensive snaps in Sunday's win over Seattle, finishing without a catch on three targets. Moore's presence at practice Wednesday gives him a chance to play this Sunday against Pittsburgh.

  • Panthers' DJ Moore: Blanked in victory

Moore didn't catch any of his three targets and rushed twice for just six yards in Sunday's 30-24 win over the Seahawks. Moore was a non-factor as quarterback Sam Darnold managed just 120 passing yards. While the team tried incorporating Moore by giving him two of its 46 total rushing attempts, the wideout gained minimal yardage. Although Carolina's victory should help Moore reconcile with Sunday's dud individual outing, he'll no doubt be eager for a vastly improved performance in Week 15 versus Pittsburgh.
