  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Steps back in third season

Deguara was targeted 15 times and caught 13 passes for 114 yards over 17 games in the 2022 campaign. Deguara appeared in every game for the first time in his three-year career, but he finished with roughly half the number of receptions and yards as he did in 2021, and he also failed to find the end zone after doing so twice in the previous season. He will almost certainly be back with Green Bay for a fourth go-around, but chances are he will remain in a complementary role.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Active in Week 18

Deguara (calf) is listed as active Sunday against the Lions, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports. After sitting out Thursday's practice due to a calf injury, Deguara returned to a limited session Friday and entered the weekend listed as questionable for Week 18 action. Now that his status is confirmed, he'll continue to play a key role as a blocking tight end for the Packers offense, which doesn't hold much sway in fantasy considering he has a 13-114-0 line on 15 targets in 16 games this season.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Tabbed as questionable for Sunday

The Packers list Deguara (calf) as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions. Heading into a win-or-go-home matchup with the Lions in the regular-season finale, the Packers will have all members of the 53-man roster available aside from potentially Deguara, who is tending to the calf injury. After failing to practice Thursday on account of the injury, Deguara at least managed to take a step forward Friday by practicing on a limited basis. When available, Deguara has handled a small role as a depth tight end, never playing more than 50 percent of the offensive snaps in a given week while drawing two or fewer targets in 15 of his 16 appearances on the season.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Dealing with injury

Deguara did not participate during the Packers' practice Thursday due to a calf injury. Deguara popped up on Green Bay's injury report with this issue for the first time Thursday. The 25-year-old was seen working on a stationary bike and stretching during Thursday's session, according to Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site, so it appears he may have picked up the injury at some point during practice Wednesday. Deguara has recorded 13 catches on 15 targets for 114 yards, and his biggest contributions have come as a blocker and core special-teamer. He'll have one opportunity to increase his practice activity Friday, or else he could be in jeopardy of missing his first game of the season during Sunday's crucial regular-season finale against the Lions.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Draws five targets in defeat

Deguara caught all five of his targets for 41 yards in Sunday's 15-9 loss to the Lions. The tight end entered Sunday's contest with just six receptions for 65 yards over eight games, but the Packers needed more from him Sunday after rookie wideouts Romeo Doubs (ankle) and Christian Watson (head) exited early, and Deguara nearly doubled his production on the season. The Packers may continue looking for ways to get him more involved due to the attrition at wide receiver, but he is sharing snaps at tight end with Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis and thus remains on the fringes of fantasy utility.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Notches reception in Week 8

Deguara recorded a nine-yard reception in Sunday's 27-17 loss to the Bills. Deguara played a season-high 28 snaps (44 percent share) in the Week 8 loss, surpassing Marcedes Lewis as the Packers' No. 2 tight end for the first time all season. It's unclear if that trend will continue moving forward or if it was more of a result of the Bills having the game in hand by the fourth quarter, but either way, Deguara and Lewis will both be firmly behind starter Robert Tonyan in the pecking order for snaps at tight end.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Opens in reserve role

Deguara was targeted twice and caught two passes for 28 yards in Sunday's loss to the Vikings. Both of Deguara's receptions led to first downs, but they also both came on the Packers' final drive with backup quarterback Jordan Love at the helm. Deguara had a chance to open the season in a more prominent role with fellow tight end Robert Tonyan recovering from a knee injury, but with Tonyan not only taking the field but starting Week 1, expect Deguara to continue working as a reserve.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Shut out Thursday night

Deguara was targeted once but did not catch a pass in Friday's exhibition matchup with the Chiefs. Deguara did not do much during the preseason, finishing with totals of six targets, three receptions and 23 yards. His versatility could help get him on the field when the regular season gets underway, but he may not get enough looks to make a fantasy impact, particularly with fellow tight end Robert Tonyan (knee) likely being ready to go early in the season, if not Week 1.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Fills several roles in scrimmage

Deguara led Packers tight ends in first-team reps during Green Bay's Family Night event Friday, according to Justis Mosqueda of acmepackingcompany.com. Deguara lined up as a tight end on only five plays Friday night, but be it in the backfield or in the slot, he was on the field for 10 others. When it was all said and done, only two Packers skill players -- and no one listed as a tight end -- racked up more snaps. Deguara started getting more involved later in his second season, and unless fellow tight end Robert Tonyan (knee) makes rapid progress in the weeks ahead, Deguara seems poised to be the Packers' top option at his position Week 1.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Finishes season as starter

Deguara was targeted 33 times and caught 25 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns over 16 appearances in the 2021 season. Deguara played a bit role early in the season, but he moved up the depth chart when fellow tight end Robert Tonyan suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 8 and finished the campaign as the Packers' top tight end. He did not do a whole lot outside of two long scores, but he was taken in the third round just two years ago, so he's going to get more opportunities in 2022. Just how many remains to be seen, as Tonyan will be a free agent this offseason.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Does little in third straight

Deguara was targeted three times and caught two passes for 11 yards in Sunday's 37-10 victory over the Vikings. Deguara would have had a much better night had he hauled in an Aaron Rodgers pass into the end zone on the Packers' first drive, but alas, he failed to hit even the 20-yard mark for the third straight game. Deguara remains the most appealing fantasy option among Green Bay's tight ends, but with him producing minimally and the Packers having already sewn up the top seed in the NFC, there are likely better options to go with Week 18.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Operating as top tight end

Deguara was targeted three times and caught two passes for five yards in the Packers' 24-22 victory over the Browns in Week 16. Deguara played at least 55 percent of the snaps for a third week in a row, and for the first time in his career was the only Packers tight end to spend more than half the offensive plays on the field. While those numbers seemingly point to him being the team's top option at the position, they have not translated into any meaningful production, as he has recorded just eight receptions for 65 yards in three games since the Week 13 bye. Deguara should again spend ample time on the field in the Packers' Week 17 matchup with the Vikings, and although his recent numbers don't inspire much confidence, he should have a chance to find paydirt against an opponent that allowed tight ends to rack up five scores over its last six games.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Little impact in win

Deguara was targeted five times and caught three passes for 16 yards in Sunday's 31-30 victory over the Ravens. While the five targets were a career high for Deguara, he was unable to do much with them, and he finished with no more than 16 yards for the fourth time in the six games the Packers have played since losing starting tight end Robert Tonyan (knee). Deguara did play more than 50 percent of the snaps for the second week in a row, and he will have the matchup in his favor in Week 16 against the Browns. However, his game log suggests he will be tough to trust in that contest.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Sets career highs in two categories

Deguara was targeted three times and caught three passes for 44 yards in Sunday's 45-30 victory over the Bears. The 44 yards were a career best for Deguara, as were the 37 snaps he played in Sunday's contest. He has not stamped himself as the Packers' top tight end, as teammate Marcedes Lewis racked up more yards and receptions Week 14 and played just one fewer snap. However, Deguara at least has done enough to put himself on the radar for Weeks 15 and 16, when the Packers will take on Ravens and Browns defenses that have been below average this season against opposing tight ends.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Two receptions in fifth straight

Deguara was targeted four times and caught two passes for 13 yards in Sunday's 36-28 victory over the Rams. The Packers activated four tight ends for Sunday's contest, and although Deguara was not one of the two credited with a start, he still wound up leading all of them in snaps, targets and receiving yards, catching exactly two passes for the fifth straight game. Deguara has established himself as the top fantasy option among Green Bay's tight ends, but he also averaged just a 44 percent snap share over the past two weeks. As such, fantasy players should not feel obligated to hang onto him through the Packers' Week 13 bye.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Plays season-high 25 snaps

Deguara was targeted three times and caught two passes for nine yards in Sunday's 17-0 victory over the Seahawks. Deguara didn't provide much help for anyone that threw a dart at him in fantasy contests, but he did play a season-high 25 snaps in Sunday's contest. His role has expanded some since Robert Tonyan (knee) was lost for the season, and he now has two receptions in three straight games after catching just two passes all season prior to that. It could be tough for him to do much more than that Week 11, as he'll remain behind Marcedes Lewis on the depth chart and face a Vikings defense that has allowed tight ends to average a measly 2.8 receptions and 30.5 yards over its last six games.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Hauls in two passes

Deguara was targeted twice and caught two passes for 16 yards in Sunday's 13-7 loss to the Chiefs. Deguara matched the career-high two receptions he recorded Week 8, but he didn't do much for fantasy players who were hoping he would step up in the absence of fellow tight end Robert Tonyan (knee). Deguara will have more opportunities to contribute with Tonyan done for the season, but he played the third-most snaps among Packers tight ends Week 9, so his role wasn't markedly different than it was in previous weeks. Of course, his prospects could improve some once starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers (illness) returns.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Career-high two catches Thursday

Deguara hauled in both targets for 20 yards in Thursday's 24-21 win at Arizona. Deguara doubled his catch count on the campaign in the process, and he's likely to earn more work moving forward after Robert Tonyan suffered a torn ACL in the contest. Per Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site, coach Mike LaFleur expects to take a "by-committee" approach at tight end moving forward, and because of the team's TE-heavy scheme Deguara may begin to realize the investment made in him as a third-round pick in the 2020 draft. Aside from Deguara, Green Bay trots out Marcedes Lewis, Dominique Dafney and Tyler Davis at the position.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Second reception this season

Deguara was targeted once and caught one pass for four yards in Sunday's 24-14 victory over the Bears. Deguara has caught only two passes all season, but that's one more than he caught last year during his rookie campaign, when a torn ACL limited him to just two appearances. Deguara has played at least 20 percent of the snaps in four straight games, but he is operating as the Packers' third tight end behind Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis.

  • Packers' Josiah Deguara: Returns from bout with concussion

Deguara (concussion) is active for Sunday's game at San Francisco, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports. Deguara completed the concussion protocol late in the week, while the Packers placed fellow tight end Dominique Dafney (hip) on injured reserve Saturday. With Dafney out for at least three contests, Deguara will join Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis as the team's top three TEs for the foreseeable future. In three career appearances, Deguara has earned just 36 offensive snaps en route to one catch (on two targets) for 12 yards.
