  • Broncos' Adam Trautman: Reuniting with HC in Denver

Trautman was traded by the Saints along with a seventh-round draft pick to the Broncos on Saturday in exchange for a sixth-round selection, Field Yates of ESPN reports. The 2020 third-round pick reunites with former Saints head coach Sean Payton in Denver. Trautman never lived up to his draft status and couldn't really separate himself as the team's top option throughout his tenure in New Orleans, eventually ceding the starting role to Juwan Johnson in 2022. It remains to be seen if that will change much with promising second-year tight end Greg Dulcich (hamstring) atop the Broncos' depth chart and explosive athlete Albert Okwuegbunam also waiting in the wings, but the change in scenery could benefit Trautman if he's able to carve out steady snaps in his new locale.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: One catch Week 18

Trautman caught his only target for 18 yards during Sunday's 10-7 defeat against Carolina. This final stat line is an accurate representation of the 25-year-old's limited role this season. On 503 offensive snaps over 15 games, Trautman posted 18 catches on 22 targets for 207 yards and a touchdown. This was a marked step down from his role during the 2021 season, when he recorded 43 targets on 615 offensive plays in 13 games. The 2020 third-round pick also never saw more than three targets in any game during the 2022 campaign, as he was consistently overshadowed by Juwan Johnson. Trautman's lack of production, despite the Saints' injury woes at wide receiver, does not bode well for his fantasy relevance heading into the 2023 season.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: First catch in four weeks

Trautman caught his only target for 16 yards during Sunday's 20-10 victory versus Philadelphia. Trautman logged his first reception and just his second target since a Week 13 loss to Tampa Bay. The tight end finished as one of five Saints players to haul in their lone target behind the team's clear-cut top receiving trio of Rashid Shaheed, Chris Olave and Juwan Johnson. Trautman's primary role as a run blocker has only been reinforced by Johnson's continued production in the passing game over the second half of the season. Barring injuries or a plan to rest starters in Week 18 with the playoffs now out of reach, expect the Saints to continue feeding the ball to receivers other than Trautman.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: Gets questionable tag for Week 16

The Saints list Trautman (ankle) as questionable for Saturday's game at Cleveland, Terrin Waack of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Trautman was listed as a limited participant on practice reports issued Tuesday through Thursday, with his lack of full participation presumably standing in the way of him entering the weekend minus an injury designation. If he ends up active for the Week 16 contest, Trautman will be the Saints' No. 2 option at tight end behind Juwan Johnson, but there could be an uptick in targets headed in both players' direction while New Orleans is without two of its starting receivers in Chris Olave (hamstring) and Jarvis Landry (ankle).

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: Limited in practice

Trautman (ankle) was a limited practice participant Wednesday. Limited for a second straight day, Trautman should be able to play Saturday in Cleveland after playing through the same injury last week and handling 65 percent of the offensive snaps in a 21-18 win over the Falcons. He was targeted just once, which isn't unusual when fellow tight end Juwan Johnson is healthy.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: Serves blocking role Week 15

Trautman did not catch his lone target during Sunday's 21-18 victory over the Falcons. Trautman returned to his limited role as a receiver as Juwan Johnson led the Saints in targets (six), receptions (four) and receiving touchdowns (two) in his return from a one-game absence due to an ankle injury. While Trautman's 36 offensive snaps still topped Johnson's 28, it's clear that New Orleans prefers the latter in a pass-catching role. Barring injuries, expect Trautman to have little fantasy value in the Saints' mediocre passing offense over the final three weeks of the regular season.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: Playing in Week 15

Trautman (ankle) is listed as active Sunday versus the Falcons, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports. Trautman experienced a season-high 80 percent snap share Week 13 with fellow tight end Juwan Johnson (ankle) sidelined, but it didn't translate to the box score (two catches for 28 yards on three targets). Following the Saints' Week 14 bye, Trautman and Johnson had their practice reps capped Wednesday through Friday and entered the weekend as questionable due to respective ankle issues, but both will be available to the offense Sunday. Johnson's overall 31-349-5 line on 49 targets this season gives him a leg up in terms of fantasy, as Trautman himself has mustered a 16-173-1 tally on 19 targets.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: Limited with ankle issue

Trautman was a limited practice participant Wednesday due to an ankle injury, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Before the Saints went on bye Week 14, Trautman wasn't on the injury report leading up to Week 13, so he evidently picked up the ankle issue against Tampa Bay that week or at some point during Wednesday's practice. Trautman's chances to play against Atlanta in Week 15 will come into focus based on what he's able to do at practices Thursday and Friday, though he might see his target upside reduce if fellow tight end Juwan Johnson (ankle) can return after logging a limited practice Wednesday.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: Moderate outing despite No. 1 role

Trautman notched two receptions on three targets for 28 yards during Monday's 17-16 loss to the Buccaneers. Trautman played a season-high 80 percent of the Saints' offensive snaps with Juwan Johnson (ankle) ruled out. Practice squad tight end Lucas Krull only saw action on 11 of the team's 59 offensive snaps while Taysom Hill continued to slot into a multi-purpose role as a rusher, passer and receiver. However, Trautman did not see a corresponding increase in production. With the Saints heading into a Week 14 bye, Johnson will get extra time to recover and could be back atop the depth chart for the team's next game against Atlanta on Sunday, Dec. 18.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: Should serve as top TE on Monday

Trautman is likely to serve as the Saints' starting tight end in Monday's game at Tampa Bay with Juwan Johnson (ankle) listed as out for the contest. New Orleans could elevate one or both of J.P. Holtz or Lucas Krull from the practice squad before Monday, but at the moment, Trautman and Taysom Hill are the only healthy tight ends on the active roster. Considering that the jack-of-all-trades Hill has lined up as a receiver or in-line tight end on just 91 of his 195 snaps on offense this season, Trautman looks like the better bet to step into Johnson's role as the Saints' top pass-catching tight end. Trautman hasn't logged more than three targets in any game this season and would still represent little more than a dart throw at the position for fantasy managers who are lacking appealing alternatives.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: One catch in loss

Trautman reeled in his only target for 17 yards during Sunday's 13-0 loss versus San Francisco. Trautman made the most of his limited receiving role with 13 yards after the catch on his lone target Week 12. The 25-year-old also played more offensive snaps (35) than fellow tight end Juwan Johnson (27) for the second game in a row, though the two ultimately combined for just three targets from struggling quarterback Andy Dalton. With the Saints' receiving corps near full health after being banged up for much of the season, Trautman's production should remain capped by his short-receiving and blocking roles.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: Logs three catches in win

Trautman gathered in all three targets for 12 yards during Sunday's 27-20 victory over the Rams. Trautman once again served as a short-yardage, checkdown option for quarterback Andy Dalton. The 6-foot-5 tight end also saw his largest snap share of the season after the Saints waived J.P. Holtz and Nick Vannett on Saturday. While Trautman's 40 offensive snaps outpaced No. 1 tight end Juwan Johnson (36), he still logged one fewer target. Trautman's production should continue to be limited by his lack of involvement in the downfield passing game.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: Catches two passes in loss

Trautman hauled in two of three targets for 22 yards during Sunday's 20-10 loss to the Steelers. Trautman tied his season high in targets despite playing fewer than 20 offensive snaps for the second game in a row. The 25-year-old has also caught a pass in each of his last six games, hauling in all but two of his 12 targets over this span. While Trautman has been a consistent short-yardage receiver in the Saints' limited passing offense, his overall production will remain capped while playing behind top tight end Juwan Johnson.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: Limited again Friday

Trautman (ankle) was a limited participant during Friday's practice. Trautman, who's missed the past two games with an ankle injury, has logged back-to-back limited practices to start Week 9 prep. He'll have one more opportunity to log a full practice before the Saints need to make a decision on his status for Monday's matchup against the Ravens.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: Back in limited capacity

Trautman (ankle) was a limited practice participant Thursday, John Hendrix of SI.com reports. Since injuring his ankle Week 6, Trautman hadn't mixed into drills until Thursday's session, so he may be drawing close to a return to action. Even if he's able to suit up Monday versus the Ravens, though, he'd likely play second fiddle to fellow tight end Juwan Johnson as a receiving threat in the Saints offense.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: Not playing Sunday

Trautman (ankle) is listed as inactive Sunday against the Raiders. Trautman thus is missing a second straight game as he tends to a left ankle injury. Meanwhile, Juwan Johnson (hamstring) is available, setting the stage for him to be the Saints' primary receiving tight end Sunday. Trautman's next chance to play will arrive Monday, Nov. 7 versus the Ravens.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: Idle for practice

Trautman (ankle) didn't practice Thursday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Trautman has yet to resume practicing since suffering a left ankle injury in the Saints' Week 6 loss to the Bengals, and unless he's able to get back on the field in some capacity Friday, he'll likely be ruled out for a second straight game this weekend against the Raiders. While Trautman was sidelined in the Saints' Week 7 loss to the Cardinals, Juwan Johnson stepped in as the team's top tight end and recorded five receptions for 32 yards and two touchdowns.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: Ruled out for Thursday

Trautman (ankle) has been ruled out for Thursday's contest against Arizona, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports. Trautman suffered the ankle injury in the team's Week 6 loss to the Bengals and was unable to practice during the short week ahead of Thursday's matchup. The tight end will turn his sights on preparing for Week 8, while Juwan Johnson will likely see increased snaps Week 7 as the Saints' No. 1 tight end.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: Not practicing Tuesday

Trautman (ankle) isn't taking part in Tuesday's practice and is expected to be listed as a non-participant on the Saints' second official Week 7 injury report, John Hendrix of SI.com reports. Trautman's absence from practice comes as little surprise after he departed Sunday's loss to the Bengals with a left ankle injury that will most likely keep him sidelined Thursday night, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com. Unless Trautman shows significant improvement and gets back on the field in some capacity Wednesday to put himself in position to play this week, Juwan Johnson should have a clear path to a big snap share at tight end.

  • Saints' Adam Trautman: Suffers foot injury Sunday

Trautman exited Sunday's game against the Bengals due to a foot injury, John Hendrix of SI.com reports. Trautman was rolled up on in the second quarter and needed assistance to get to the sideline. After visiting the blue medical tent, he emerged without a shoe on his left foot and was carted to the locker room. It's unclear if Trautman will be able to return, but if he doesn't he'll end Week 6 with one catch (on one target) for eight yards.
