  • Broncos' Lloyd Cushenberry: Back on the field

Cushenberry has returned to the field after recovering from a groin injury, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.

Cushenberry was placed on injured reserve back in November but has now returned to action for the start of OTAs. The 25-year-old started eight games for Denver last season and should have the same role during the upcoming campaign.

  • Broncos' Lloyd Cushenberry: Lands on iR

Cushenberry (groin) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Cushenberry suffered the injury in the team's Week 8 win over the Jaguars, and it was initially reported that he could miss a couple of weeks. However, after a bye week it appears the third-year guard has made little progress in his recovery, and he'll now miss at least the next four weeks with his move to IR. Graham Glasgow will likely fill in at center for the Broncos while Cushenberry is out.

  • Broncos' Lloyd Cushenberry: Could miss time

Cushenberry (groin) will miss "a couple weeks" according to head coach Nathanial Hackett, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.

Cushenberry suffered a groin injury during Sundays' win over the Jaguars, which will put him on the shelf for now. With the Broncos currently on a bye week, it's possible he could return in Week 10 against the Titans. If not, Graham Glasgow would likely handle the center spot.

  • Broncos' Lloyd Cushenberry: Tests positive for COVID-19

Cushenberry (illness) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.

The center is vaccinated and therefore will have an opportunity to test negative twice before Sunday and play in the Week 16 contest against the Raiders, though it seems unlikely he'll be able to do that. With Cushenberry likely inactive, Austin Schlottmann appears to be in line to make his first start of the season.

  • Broncos' Lloyd Cushenberry: Gets nod from coach

Said coach Vic Fangio of Cushenberry's 2020 rookie season, "He was a guy that constantly got better inch by inch... He just kept getting better in small increments and by the end of the season was playing his best football," Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.

Initially entering the fold as a third-round draft choice from LSU, Cushenberry started all 16 games for the Broncos in 2020. The 23-year-old went without a missed offensive snap, committing three penalties and conceding four sacks on the season. He's got his head coach firmly in his corner as Denver prepares for free agency and the 2021 NFL Draft. Barring an unexpected development, Cushenberry will have a strong chance at defending his starting role in training camp, as new general manager George Paton has more pressing areas to address on the current roster.
