Lions' Jake Funk: Staying with Detroit
Funk signed a reserve/future contract with the Lions on Tuesday, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports.
Funk signed with Detroit's practice squad last week and will now have an opportunity to stick around in the organization heading into the 2024 season. The 26-year-old was most recently a member of Baltimore's practice squad before he was cut loose earlier this month when the Ravens added Dalvin Cook. Prior to his stint in Baltimore, Funk's lone NFL appearances this season came as a member of the Colts, with whom he appeared in four games and carried two times for 10 yards to go with a 12-yard reception.

Jake Funk: Gets look from Detroit
The Lions signed Funk to their practice squad Wednesday.
Funk was most recently a member of Baltimore's practice squad before he was cut loose earlier this month when the Ravens added Dalvin Cook. The Maryland product originally joined the NFL as a seventh-round selection of the Rams in 2021 and has also seen regular-season action with the Colts. Funk will join Detroit's practice unit as a replacement for fellow running back Jermar Jefferson (undisclosed), who was placed on the practice squad injured list.

Funk was added to Baltimore's practice squad Dec. 19, when Keaton Mitchell was placed on injured reserve after suffering a ruptured ACL. However, after the addition of fellow running back Dalvin Cook, the Maryland product was chosen as the odd man out, and his time with the Ravens will come to an end.

The Ravens signed Funk to their practice squad Tuesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
With rookie Keaton Mitchell now out for the rest of the season with a ruptured ACL, Baltimore felt it necessary to add some depth at running back ahead of Week 16. Gus Edwards and Justice Hill are currently the only healthy halfbacks on the Ravens' active roster, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Funk get elevated from the practice squad as soon as Monday.

The Dolphins cut Funk from the practice squad Saturday.
Funk spent a little over a month in Miami after he was cut by the Colts earlier in the season. The 2021 seventh-round pick of the Rams is no longer needed with the Dolphins' backfield returning to full health. Funk has four career carries for 15 yards.

Funk, who was cut by the Colts on Saturday and cleared waivers Monday, now gets a chance to operate as an emergency reserve option for a Dolphins squad that may be without rookie sensation De'Von Achane (knee) for multiple weeks. Funk was waived by the Colts on Saturday.
The big news in the NFL on Saturday was Indianapolis signing Jonathan Taylor (ankle) to an extension and activating him from the reserve/PUP list, which necessitated a corresponding move to open a roster spot. Funk was the player the Colts chose to part ways with after the four-year vet was limited to special-teams work each of the past three weeks. Funk did get 12 offensive snaps against Jacksonville in Week 1, and he rushed twice for 10 yards while making one reception for 12 yards. He could end up on Indianapolis' practice squad if he clears waivers.

Funk did not have a carry or target in Sunday's win at Houston. He didn't play a snap on offense and was limited to five snaps on special teams.
Funk had two carries and a reception in Week 1, but he moved to a deep reserve role with the return of Zack Moss from a broken arm. Funk may permanently move to the practice squad if Jonathan Taylor (ankle) returns from the PUP list in Week 5.

The move comes in correspondence with placing fifth-round rookie Evan Hull (knee) on the injured reserve list. Presumed starter Zack Moss is dealing with a forearm injury, and change-of-pace man Deon Jackson has demonstrated a tendency to fumble the ball away, so Funk could very well be involved as early as Week 2.

Funk could have a larger role in Week 2 against the Texans if Zack Moss (arm) remains sidelined, Hull can't return and Jackson's role is reduced due to his poor outing.
