The Steelers signed Huntley to a reserve/future contract Tuesday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.

The third-year running back then spent time on and off the Steelers' practice squad before finishing the season on this practice squad. In six career games, Huntley has recorded 18 carries for 70 yards, and he'll now look to carve out a role on the active roster heading into the 2023 campaign.

Eagles' Jason Huntley: Set for heavy workload
With Boston Scott (concussion) and Kenneth Gainwell (hip) out, Huntley is expected to garner a heavy workload during Friday's preseason opener against the Jets, Bo Wulf of The Athletic reports.
Miles Sanders may play a series or two, but Huntley will likely see the large majority of snaps at running back Friday. Wulf also notes that undrafted rookie Kennedy Brooks will get mixed in too, but Huntley has the higher upside. The 2020 fifth-round pick appeared in one game for the Eagles last season, totaling 51 rushing yards on 13 attempts.

Eagles' Jason Huntley: One appearance during 2021 campaign
Huntley totaled 13 carries for 51 yards and failed to haul in his only target during his only appearances during the 2021 campaign. He also added 84 kick return yards.
With Miles Sanders (hand), Boston Scott (illness) and Jordan Howard (illness) all unavailable for Week 18, Huntley was elevated to the active roster and shared backfield duties with Kenneth Gainwell. Huntley drew one more rushing attempt than Gainwell during the contest, but the latter had 27 more rushing yards and was the only running back involved in the passing game. Huntley also returned three kickoffs for 84 yards. He was drafted by the Lions in 2020, but he was waived before the start of his rookie season and claimed off waivers by the Eagles. He'll be a likely candidate to be a member of Philadelphia's practice squad again during the 2022 season.

Eagles' Jason Huntley: Promoted from practice squad
Huntley was promoted to the Eagles' active roster from the practice squad Monday.
The 23-year-old was a gameday elevation from the practice squad for Saturday's loss to the Cowboys, and he had 13 carries for 51 yards with Miles Sanders (hand), Boston Scott (illness) and Jordan Howard (unavailable). Scott and Howard are now back on the active roster, so Huntley should fill a depth role for Philadelphia's playoff run. If active for this weekend's wild-card game in Tampa Bay, Huntley will likely see most of his snaps on special teams as the Eagles' kickoff return man.
