Texans' Roy Lopez: Off of first injury report
Lopez (undisclosed) was not listed on the Texans' injury report Wednesday.
It was anticipated that Lopez would be available heading into Week 1 despite him picking up a soft-tissue injury a couple of weeks ago. The 2021 sixth-round pick notched 31 tackles including one sack over 16 games as a rookie, and he should play alongside Maliek Collins as Houston's starting defensive tackles against the Colts on Sunday.

Texans' Roy Lopez: Expects to be available for Week 1
Lopez (undisclosed) is dealing with a soft-tissue injury but is expected to be available for Week 1, Drew Dougherty of the Texans' official site reports.
Since joining the Texans as a rookie last season, the defensive lineman has seen a big role and hasn't missed any time excluding a brief absence with COVID-19. Lopez figures to see a starting spot in the middle of Houston's defensive line all season, assuming he's able to get healthy in time for Week 1.

Texans' Roy Lopez: Tests positive for COVID-19
Lopez tested positive for the coronavirus Thursday and will be placed on the Texans' reserve/COVID-19 list, Brooks Kubena of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Lopez, cornerback Lonnie Johnson, safety Eric Murray and defensive end Jordan Jenkins are among the Texans who tested positive Thursday, bringing the organization's total number of players on the reserve/COVID-19 list or practice squad/COVID-19 list up to 22. Per Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston, Lopez is dealing with minor symptoms of the virus, so if he's vaccinated and makes a swift recovery, he'll still have an outside chance at coming off the list ahead of Sunday's game against the Chargers.

Texans' Roy Lopez: Works into rotation
Lopez has worked himself into the defensive-line rotation, Aaron Reiss of The Athletic reports.
Lopez, Houston's sixth-round pick in 2021, has been rotating with players that appear to be roster locks. He had sacks in each of the first two preseason games. "He's jumped into a group of guys as a rookie with some veteran guys that know how to practice and know how to play, and he has fell right in there," Houston head coach David Culley said. With the switch to a 4-3 defense, there are more opportunities for interior linemen.
