Kareem suffered an injury to his ribs in the Colts' 24-17 preseason victory over the Bears, George Bremer of The Anderson Herald Bulletin reports.
Kareem was able to return to the game, but his status moving forward is worth monitoring. Based on the fact that he is competing for a final roster spot, he'll likely push to play again Thursday versus the Eagles if possible.

Colts' Khalid Kareem: Inks new contract
The Colts re-signed Kareem on Monday.
Kareem is now slated to remain with the Colts for at least the 2023 campaign after he signed a new deal with the team. The 24-year-old joined Indianapolis from the Bengals back in November and served as both a rotational defensive lineman as well as a special-teams contributor across the final four weeks of this past season.

Khalid Kareem: Waived by Bengals
Kareem was waived by the Bengals on Tuesday, one day after he was activated from the IR, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
This comes as a bit of a surprise, as Kareem was expected to be part of the Bengals' defensive line rotation. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2020 Draft, but he has dealt with a number of injury issues this season.

Bengals' Khalid Kareem: Ditches IR
Cincinnati added Kareem (hamstring) from its injured reserve list to its active roster Monday, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
Kareem had to miss the first five games of the season as he tended to a hamstring injury, but it now appears he could return as soon as Week 6 at New Orleans. As long as Sam Hubbard and Trey Hendrickson remain healthy though, Kareem will be relegated to a rotational role.

Kareem (hamstring) was designated to return from injured reserve and practiced Wednesday.
Kareem was forced to miss the first four games of the season after starting the campaign on IR due to a hamstring injury he suffered during the team's second preseason contest. He'll have a 21-day period to be added to the active roster, but if he isn't, he'll revert back to IR for the remainder of the campaign.

Bengals' Khalid Kareem: Cleared to practice Sunday
Kareem (undisclosed) was activated off the active/PUP list Sunday and is cleared to practice, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Kareem started training camp on the PUP list due to an undisclosed injury, but he appears to have moved past the issue and is ready to contribute during training camp. The 2020 fifth-round pick appeared in only seven games last season after playing in all 16 as a rookie. In his lone healthy campaign, Kareem totaled 19 tackles and one sack across 259 defensive snaps.

Kareem can be reinstated from this list and practice at any point before the regular season, but he will first need to receive a corresponding medical clearance. Kareem missed time due to a shoulder injury last season while also needing a stint in the concussion protocol, but he finished the campaign on the active roster. It's not currently known why Kareem wasn't a full practice participant, but once he is healthy he projects to provide depth along the Bengals defensive line.
