Cade Johnson: Lands on practice squad
Johnson joined the Seahawks' practice squad Wednesday, John Boyle of the team's official website reports.
Johnson failed to earn a spot on the Seahawks' 53-man roster as depth receiver and special teams contributor, but he will stick around in Seattle nonetheless. He had a scary incident in the team's first preseason game that resulted in him being stretchered off the field and ultimately receiving a concussion diagnosis. Fortunately, he was eventually able to return and will now look to impress at practice.

Cade Johnson: Cut by Seattle
The Seahawks waived Johnson on Tuesday, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Johnson sustained a concussion early in the preseason but returned to the field for the team's exhibition finale. He was unable to land a spot on the team's 53-man roster and will now seek out other opportunities.

Seahawks' Cade Johnson: Released from hospital
Johnson (concussion) was released from the hospital Friday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Johnson was taken to the hospital after taking a big hit during Thursday's preseason game against the Vikings. Tests at the hospital revealed no additional injuries beyond the concussion, and it's encouraging that Johnson has been released the next day. Nonetheless, he will have to clear the league's five-step concussion protocol before returning to the football field.

Seahawks' Cade Johnson: Tests reveal concussion
Tests at Seattle's Harborview Medical Center revealed a concussion but no additional injuries for Johnson, who was transported to the hospital after exiting Thursday's preseason game against the Vikings, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
Johnson was wobbly after getting tackled on a kickoff return in the second quarter. He remained in the blue medical tent until halftime and was then transported to the hospital. It's encouraging that the extent of Johnson's injury was limited to the concussion, but it's too early to determine his recovery timeline at this point, and the receiver will have to clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol before he can return to the field.

Seahawks' Cade Johnson: Makes visit to hospital
Johnson (head/neck) was transferred from Lumen Field to a Seattle area hospital during Thursday's preseason game against the Vikings, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.
It's unclear when Johnson sustained the injury, but he spent some time in the sideline tent before being removed from the field on a stretcher while his head and neck were immobilized. The Seahawks announced that Johnson is in stable condition, so the team appears to be taking the utmost caution with the third-year wide receiver.

Seahawks' Cade Johnson: Stretchered off field Thursday
Johnson needed a stretcher to get off the field during halftime of Thursday's preseason contest versus the Vikings, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
An unknown Seahawk was in the blue medical tent for about 20 minutes before halftime, at which point Johnson was immobilized and placed on a stretcher, per Henderson. The nature of Johnson's injury is unknown, but the 2021 undrafted free agent was in the running for one of the final spots at wide receiver for Seattle.

Seahawks' Cade Johnson: Sticks in Seattle after 2022 season
Johnson signed a reserve/future contract with the Seahawks on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Johnson was elevated from the practice squad for the fourth time this season ahead of Saturday's loss to San Francisco in the wild-card round. The 24-year-old, who stepped up as Seattle's de-facto No. 3 wideout over the final three games with Marquise Godwin (shoulder) out, snagged all three of his targets for a season-high 39 yards during this playoff tilt. He then reverted to the practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log, and he'll now ink his second reserve/future contract with the Seahawks in as many seasons. This productive showing to end the year should give Johnson a solid base to build on heading into the 2023 campaign.

Seahawks' Cade Johnson: Three grabs in wild-card loss
Johnson caught all three of his targets for 39 yards in Saturday's 41-23 wild-card loss to the 49ers.
The undrafted rookie out of South Dakota State emerged as Seattle's No. 3 wideout late in the regular season after Marquise Goodwin (shoulder) got hurt, and Johnson wound up posting the best numbers of his career in his playoff debut, even if his production was modest. The Seahawks have some questions to answer in the offseason regarding their offense, starting with whether to bring back Geno Smith at quarterback, but no matter who's under center there won't likely be much volume available in the passing game behind the top duo of DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

Johnson has been elevated for a third straight week. Over his previous two appearances, he totaled two receptions on four targets for 21 yards across 54 offensive snaps. He figures to garner a similar role during the playoff matchup against San Francisco.

Johnson was elevated from the practice squad for the second week in a row ahead of Sunday's regular-season finale win against the Rams. The 5-foot-10 receiver wound up playing the most significant role of his young career, as his 29 offensive snaps ranked third on the team behind DK Metcalf (58) and Tyler Lockett (55) but ahead of Dareke Young (17) and Laquon Treadwell (five). Johnson also finished with Seattle's fourth-most receiving yards (21) while hauling both of his targets Week 18, so he may have earned himself an active roster spot heading into Saturday's wild-card tilt against the 49ers.

This was Johnson's third game of the season, and he managed to work as the No. 3 receiver behind DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, logging a 41 percent snap share and hauling in his first passes of the year. It's unclear if he'll be used the same way during the playoffs, but Marquise Goodwin (shoulder) will miss at least two more games. The Seahawks elevated Johnson from the practice squad Saturday for Sunday's regular-season finale versus the Rams, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.
Johnson will be elevated from the practice for the third time this season and the second game in a row. The 24-year-old wideout did not haul in either of his two targets while playing 25 offensive snaps against the Jets in Week 17, though it's possible he could once again see some significant playing time with Tyler Lockett nursing a shin injury heading into the regular-season finale. Should Lockett be ruled inactive 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 4:25 pm E.T. kickoff, then Johnson should compete with Laquon Treadwell, Dareke Young and Penny Hart for targets behind No. 1 wideout DK Metcalf.

Johnson was previously elevated ahead of the Week 8 win over the Giants, but he saw only one offensive snap in that contest. His elevation comes on the same day Marquise Goodwin (shoulder) was placed on IR, so it's likely Johnson will be active next week as well. That said, Tyler Lockett (hand) has indicated that he expects to play against the Jets on Sunday, which would decrease the likelihood of Johnson seeing significant snaps on offense.
