  • Ravens' Justice Hill: Joined by No. 1 option in backfield

Hill will likely handle a secondary role in the Baltimore backfield in 2024 after Derrick Henry agreed to a two-year contract with the Ravens on Tuesday, Brian Wacker of the Baltimore Sun reports.

Though they allowed Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins (Achilles) to reach free agency, the Ravens moved quickly to add a true No. 1 running back in Henry, whose size and power will complement Lamar Jackson's elusiveness. After Dobbins went down with a season-ending injury Week 1, Hill stepped into an elevated role out of the backfield and finished with career highs in carries (84) and rushing yards (387) while scoring three times on the ground. The addition of Henry will make it tough for Hill to replicate that rushing workload, though his pass-catching skills should make him the Ravens' clear top option on passing downs, at least until Keaton Mitchell (knee) completes his recovery from the torn ACL he suffered in December.

  • Ravens' Justice Hill: Enjoys career year in 2023

Hill finished the 2023 regular season with career highs for carries (84), rushing yards (387), rushing touchdowns (three), catches (28), receiving yards (206) and receiving touchdowns (one).

Hill was Baltimore's running back of choice for obvious passing situations for most of the season, though rookie Keaton Mitchell (knee) took some of that work away from early November to mid-December before suffering an ACL tear. The fifth-year back also ended up with a larger-than-expected role in the rushing game, especially early in the season after J.K. Dobbins suffered a torn Achilles' tendon Week 1. The two-year, $4.5 million contract Hill signed in March ended up working out well for the Ravens, as he played nearly as many snaps on offense (436) as in his first four NFL seasons combined (554). Hill could play more on special teams and less on offense in 2024, though that's far from a certainty with both Dobbins and Gus Edwards scheduled for unrestricted free agency. Hill is due for a non-guaranteed $2 million base salary and $500,000 in per-game roster bonuses for the second and final season of his contract.

  • Ravens' Justice Hill: Strong performance in playoff win

Hill rushed the ball 13 times for 66 yards in Saturday's 34-10 win over the Texans. He also had two receptions on two targets for 11 yards.

Hill led the Ravens' backfield while matching his highest carry total of the season and recording his highest yardage total of the campaign. He was particularly effective running out the clock late in the game, as he accounted for 42 yards in the final quarter. Hill also remained involved as a pass catcher and has commanded multiple targets in five of his last six contests. He should split work with Gus Edwards once again in the AFC Championship Game while squaring off with either the Chiefs or Bills, though it's worth noting that newcomer Dalvin Cook saw eight carries Saturday. Also, Edwards appeared to leave the game due to some issue in the fourth quarter.

  • Ravens' Justice Hill: Paces team in targets

Hill caught three of 10 targets for 26 yards in Saturday's loss to the Steelers.

Hill did not factor into the carry rotation Saturday but did lead the team in targets in what was an anomalous game for the Ravens with Tyler Huntley at quarterback. In Weeks 16 and 17, Hill commanded a 22 percent rushing share in the wake of Keaton Mitchell's season-ending injury. Hill has been active in the passing game throughout the season and that should continue when the Ravens return to action in the divisional round, but his rushing usage has been sporadic all year as well. Gus Edwards projects to be first in line for carries during the postseason but Hill can still be a fantasy factor with a small rushing workload to go with his passing game role.

  • Ravens' Justice Hill: Stellar all-around day Sunday

Hill rushed three times for 48 yards and secured all five targets for 64 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens' 56-19 win over the Dolphins on Sunday. He also returned two kickoffs for 101 yards.

Hill was highly efficient overall while providing a 20-yard touchdown grab in the first quarter to erase an early 7-0 deficit and ignite the Ravens' offense on what would be a prolific afternoon. The versatile veteran was explosive as both a rusher and returner as well, but he could take a seat in Week 18 against the Steelers with the Ravens now in possession of the AFC's top seed.
