  • Texans' Grayland Arnold: Stepping in as nickel corner

Coach Demeco Ryans said Wednesday that Arnold is ready to play nickel corner in place of Tavierre Thomas (hand), Brooks Kubena of the Houston Chronicle reports.

It's a new role for Arnold, who prior to 2023 had played just three defensive snaps over two seasons with Houston. It's not clear how long Thomas will have to sit out, but at least to start, it looks like Arnold will serve as his replacement.

  • Texans' Grayland Arnold: Returning from IR

Houston activated Arnold (quadriceps) from its injured reserve list Friday ahead of Saturday's game at Tennessee.

After missing the Texans' last seven games recovering from a quadriceps injury he sustained in Week 8 versus the Titans, Arnold appears poised to return for the rematch in Week 16. The 25-year-old safety has played exclusively on special teams up to this point in 2022.

  • Texans' Grayland Arnold: Designated to return from IR

Arnold (quadriceps) was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The Texans will now have a 21-day window to either activate Arnold or leave him on IR for the remainder of the season. Arnold has been out since Week 9 after he suffered a quadriceps injury in the team's loss to the Titans and could be a special-teams option down the stretch if activated. On the year, he's logged one tackle while playing 96 special-teams snaps in five contests.

  • Texans' Grayland Arnold: Heads to IR

Arnold (quadriceps) was placed on the Texans' injured reserve Thursday.

Arnold suffered a quad injury in Sunday's loss to the Titans and was ruled out ahead of Thursday's game against the Eagles. Now, the 25-year-old will be forced to sit out until at least Week 13 while on Houston's IR. Arnold logged one tackle while exclusively playing on special teams over five games this season, so his absence won't affect the team's defense moving forward.

  • Texans' Grayland Arnold: Out for TNF

Arnold (quadriceps) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Eagles.

Arnold picked up a quad injury during Sunday's matchup against the Titans, and he won't be able to take the field Thursday after getting only a few days to recover. His absence shouldn't be a huge factor for the Texans, as he's primarily served on special teams through the first eight weeks of the campaign.

  • Texans' Grayland Arnold: Exits early

Arnold (ankle) is questionable to return Sunday against the 49ers.

Arnold was promoted from the Texans' practice squad before Week 14 and has contributed on special teams since. His absence shouldn't impact the Texans' defense, if he is unable to return.

  • Texans' Grayland Arnold: Added to active roster

Arnold was promoted to Houston's active roster ahead of Week 14 against the Seahawks, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The Texans have a couple of injuries in the secondary with A.J. Moore (hip) and Jimmy Moreland (foot) questionable, so Arnold moves up from the practice squad to provide insurance. He has yet to appear in a regular season game this season.

  • Eagles' Grayland Arnold: No limitations from hamstring issue

Arnold (hamstring) was a full participant during the Eagles' practice session Wednesday.

Based on his level of participation at midweek, chances are looking strong that the Baylor product will be available for a Week 16 road trip to Cowboys Stadium. If Arnold suits up for the intradivisional matchup against Dallas, his involvement will likely be limited to special-teams duties.
