Colts' Eric Johnson: Active at training camp
Johnson was removed from the active/non-football injury list and returned to the active roster Thursday.
After tweaking his back while training this summer, Johnson opened training camp on the NFI list, but he will now return to practice Thursday. The rookie is expected to operate as a top reserve option at defensive tackle this season behind the likes of DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart.

Johnson was selected by the Colts in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, but the start of his pro career will be delayed. The extent of his injury remains unclear, but he'll likely need to return to training camp practices soon if he hopes to make the initial roster.

Colts' Eric Johnson: Indianapolis selects in Round 5
The Colts selected Johnson in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 159th overall.
Johnson was not a combine invite and played at a low level of competition (Missouri State), but he's a toolsy one-gap sort of defensive tackle with a 4.87-second pro day 40 at 6-foot-4, 299 pounds. Wheels like that should make him an off-the-bench pass-rushing specialist at the least.
