  • Rams' Cam Akers: Ends on three-game 100-yard streak

Akers rushed 21 times for 104 yards and caught all three of his targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 19-16 overtime loss to Seattle. Akers had a falling out with the Rams earlier in the season, but he and the team got back on the same page as the 2020 second-round pick finished the campaign with three consecutive 100-yard performances on the ground. Akers rushed 188 times for 786 yards and seven touchdowns overall, and he could open the 2023 season as the Rams' lead back.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: RBs to Start

Akers is on fire and should stay hot for one more week against the Seahawks in Week 18. He has either 100 total yards or a touchdown in five games in a row, and this streak started against Seattle in Week 13 when he had 17 carries for 60 yards and two touchdowns, along with one catch for no yards on one target. In his past two games against Denver and the Chargers, Akers has combined for 241 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 42 carries. The Seahawks have allowed nine total touchdowns to running backs in their past six games and six running backs to score at least 12 PPR points over that span.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: Contrarian DFS Play

Expect a third consecutive game over 100 yards for Cam Akers in Week 18. He's working his way into the Round 3 conversation in 2023 if the Rams don't make a significant acquisition at running back.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: Eclipses century mark in loss

Akers rushed 19 times for 123 yards and brought in one of two targets for 10 yards in the Rams' 31-10 loss to the Chargers on Sunday. Akers saw backfield mate Malcolm Brown vulture the Rams' only touchdown, but he otherwise continued a highly encouraging stretch of play that's boosting his fantasy stock for 2023. The third-year back now has back-to-back 100-yard performances for the first time in his career, and although his passing game involvement took a slight hit after multi-reception efforts in Weeks 15 and 16, Akers still delivered nicely for fantasy managers riding his late-season surge. The 2020 second-round pick will have a solid opportunity to head into the offseason with some momentum against the Seahawks' inconsistent run defense on the road in Week 18.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: RBs to Start

Despite the Rams falling apart this season, one bright spot has been Akers turning into a star down the stretch. Let's hope he can stay hot for one more week. He comes into Week 17 with either 100 total yards or a touchdown in four games in a row. He just destroyed the Broncos in Week 16 with 23 carries for 118 yards and three touchdowns and two catches for 29 yards on two targets, and he has five catches on five targets in his past two games with Baker Mayfield. The Chargers are No. 8 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs this season, and three running backs in their past five games have scored at least 20 PPR points. Akers has top-15 upside in all leagues in Week 17.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: Goes off for three scores

Akers rushed 23 times for 118 yards and three touchdowns while catching both of his targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 51-14 win over Denver. Akers appeared to be in the holiday spirit after gifting his fantasy managers three scores on Christmas Day. This was easily the 23-year-old's best performance of his career, which is especially impressive considering it came against one of the league's top defenses. Akers started the year in head coach Sean McVay's doghouse, but he has come on strong in recent weeks to rescue a Rams rushing attack that was on life support. The 2020 second-round pick is averaging 71.3 rushing yards with six total touchdowns in four games since taking over as the team's lead back. Akers can safely be viewed as an RB2 heading into a matchup against the Chargers on Jan. 1.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: RBs to Sit

Akers has been a bright spot for the Rams of late, scoring at least 12 PPR points in two of his past three games, with three total touchdowns over that span. And I like that he had three catches for 35 yards on three targets in his first start with Baker Mayfield in Week 15 at Green Bay. But his three quality outings have come against the Seahawks, Raiders and Packers, and the Broncos run defense has been tougher than those teams this season. Denver has allowed one rushing touchdown to a running back since Week 8, and Akers could be in trouble if he doesn't score in this matchup. I would only use him as a flex option in Week 16 in the majority of leagues.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: Finishes with 90 total yards Monday

Akers rushed 12 times for 65 yards and brought in all three targets for 35 yards in the Rams' 24-12 loss to the Packers on Monday night. Akers was about the only bright spot for the Rams' mostly moribund offense, with the third-year back making an impact from his team's very first play. Akers ripped off a 15-yard gain on that initial carry, and he was also responsible for 23 total yards on Los Angeles' third possession, which culminated in the team's first points of the game, a 33-yard Matt Gay field goal. Akers ultimately finished with team highs in both rushing and receiving yards in a game where he saw multiple targets for only the second time all season, and he'll head into a Week 16 home matchup against the Broncos on Christmas Day with a trio of tallies of at least 60 rushing yards in the last five contests.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: Sleeper RBs

Akers has scored three touchdowns in his past two games, and he could become a reliable option in non- and 0.5-PPR leagues. He only has four catches for 19 yards on the season, so he's not going to help you much in PPR, especially if he doesn't score, but can be a flex option moving forward, especially in Week 15 at Green Bay. The Packers have allowed six touchdowns to running backs in their past four games, which should bode well for Akers this week.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: Finds end zone again in win

Akers rushed 12 times for 42 yards and a touchdown while bringing in his only target for one yard in the Rams' 17-16 win over the Raiders on Thursday night. He also lost a fumble. Akers once again served as the clear-cut lead back over rookie backfield mate Kyren Williams, but he ultimately logged a fairly modest workload overall. Nevertheless, the third-year pro crossed the goal line for the third time in the last two games on a one-yard touchdown run with 3:19 remaining, a score that proved critical in the comeback. While the Rams' injury-hampered offensive line isn't likely to open up many running lanes for Akers, he at least appears to have a secure role, despite his second lost fumble of the season, going into a Week 15 road matchup versus the Packers on Monday night, Dec. 19.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

Can you trust someone from the Rams? It might be tough, but this is a good matchup to use Akers as at least a flex against the Raiders. There have been seven running backs to score at least 12 PPR points against Las Vegas in the past five games, and Akers just had his best game of the season in Week 13 against Seattle with 17 carries for 60 yards and two touchdowns, along with one catch for no yards on one target. He played 71 percent of the snaps ahead of Kyren Williams, and Akers can be considered a solid flex play in all leagues, with his value slightly higher in non- and 0.5-PPR formats.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: Start Him in non-PPR (Lineup Decisions)

Trusting any Rams player isn't easy, but as low-end No. 2 RBs go, Akers should fit into lineups with some confidence, especially because of the matchup at home on a short week. I'd start him in any format over Devin Singletary and any Ravens RB, and he's palatable in non-PPR, but I would not get cute and start him over D'Onta Foreman, Dameon Pierce or Jeff Wilson.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: Week 14 Waiver Priority List

Akers had his best game of the season in Week 13 against Seattle with 17 carries for 60 yards and two touchdowns, along with one catch for no yards on one target. He played 71 percent of the snaps ahead of Kyren Williams, and Akers could have the chance for another quality outing in Week 14 against the Raiders. There have been seven running backs to score at least 12 PPR points against Las Vegas in the past five games, and Akers should be considered a flex option for Thursday's game. He's worth adding for up to 10 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: Scores two TDs against Seattle

Akers carried the ball 17 times for 60 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 27-23 loss to the Seahawks. He also caught his only target for zero yards. Rookie Kyren Williams appeared to be on the verge of taking over the lead role in the Rams' backfield last week, but Akers roared back Sunday with a one-yard TD plunge in the first quarter and a six-yard score with just under three minutes left in the fourth that seemed like it might give his team a 23-20 win before Geno Smith answered back for Seattle. The Los Angeles offense has a limited ceiling with Matthew Stafford (neck), Cooper Kupp (ankle) and Allen Robinson (foot) all on IR and potentially done for the season, but Akers could still have some fantasy value in Week 14 against the Raiders if he continues to fend off Williams.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: Overcomes illness

Akers (illness) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Seattle, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports. Akers was a full practice participant Friday after missing the previous two days. He and Kyren Williams figure to continue splitting work in the backfield, though it's possible the rookie's share continues to grow with the Rams out of the playoff hunt and perhaps not viewing Akers as part of their future beyond 2022. For now, he should get some carries, but within the context of an injury-riddled offense full of backup linemen and now led by backup quarterback John Wolford.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: Still not practicing

Akers (illness) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports. Akers has yet to mix into drills during Week 13 prep as he contends with an illness. His status at Friday's session thus will be something to watch for, as another DNP could put him in danger of sitting out Sunday against the Seahawks. If he's able to suit up this weekend, Akers likely would be the Rams' No. 2 running back after he handled a 30 percent share of snaps to Kyren Williams' 70 percent this past Sunday at Kansas City.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: Comes down with illness

Akers was held out of Wednesday's practice due to an illness, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports. In the wake of the Rams waiving Darrell Henderson last week, Akers ended up playing second fiddle to rookie Kyren Williams out of the team's backfield during this past Sunday's loss at Kansas City. While Akers' snap share (30 percent) paled in comparison to Williams' (70 percent), the former had more rushing yards (37 to 35) while the latter notched more touches (14 to 8) and yards from scrimmage (60 to 37). Akers is beginning Week 13 prep with an absence from his practice, so his status will be one to monitor in advance of Sunday's game against the Seahawks.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: Little volume in loss

Akers carried the ball eight times for 37 yards in Sunday's 26-10 loss to Kansas City. While he led the Rams' running backs in rushing yards, quarterback Bryce Perkins out-gained Akers on the ground, and rookie Kyren Williams wound up with more scrimmage yards. With the Los Angeles offense in complete disarray, neither RB figures to have much fantasy appeal in Week 13 against the Seahawks -- even against a defense that just coughed up over 300 combined yards to Josh Jacobs.

  • Rams' Cam Akers: Likely taking over as lead back

Akers appears set to take over as the top option in the Los Angeles backfield after the team waived Darrell Henderson on Tuesday, Cameron DaSilva of USA Today reports. The shocking release of Henderson, who was the Rams' leading rusher with a paltry 283 yards, leaves Akers and rookie Kyren Williams as the only two running backs on the 53-man roster. Ronnie Rivers will likely be summoned from the practice squad to provide another body at the position for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, but look for both Akers and Williams to outpace him in work. Akers has averaged a miserable 3.1 yards per carry this season, but he's at least coming off a solid showing in the Rams' 27-20 loss to the Saints in Week 11, when he gained 61 yards on 14 attempts. With Henderson set to be a free agent at season's end, the Rams have chosen to see what they have in the two backs that will still be on the roster next season, with Williams now likely serving as a third-down specialist while Akers takes hold of lead-back duties. The Rams' new-look running back room faces a tough task in Week 12, taking on a Chiefs squad that has allowed just 100.6 rushing yards per game this season.
