Burns is signing with the Bears' practice squad Wednesday, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Burns was let go by Chicago on Tuesday but will rejoin the club via the practice squad. If Khari Blasingame is unavailable at some point this year, Burns will be a strong candidate to join the active roster.

Robert Burns: Doesn't make cut
Burns was waived by the Bears on Tuesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Burns joined the team as an undrafted free agent out of UConn in May and was working to unseat Khari Blasingame for the team's fullback duties. Ultimately though, the 24-year-old was unable to do so and now should be considered a candidate for a practice squad spot.

Bears' Robert Burns: Possibly set for practice squad
Burns may not be able to supplant Khari Blasingame for a spot on the active roster, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
Burns, an undrafted free agent, is battling Blasingame, who is a four-year veteran and key part of the Bears' blocking scheme. With Blasingame having a combination of experience and a good training camp, the veteran seems to have a firm lead on the job. However, there is a good chance that Burns sticks with the team as a member of the practice squad.
