Four of Calcaterra's five catches came when he was elevated for the second tight end role while Dallas Goedert missed time with a shoulder injury. The fact that Calcaterra still averaged less than a catch per game during those contests means it's difficult to see him having much fantasy relevance next season.

Calcaterra is expected to slide down to third on the depth chart at tight end in Saturday's game at Dallas after Philadelphia reinstated Dallas Goedert (shoulder) from injured reserve Tuesday, ESPN.com reports.
After missing the Eagles' last five games, Goedert is expected to step back in as the team's starting tight end, while Jack Stoll handles the No. 2 role. During Goedert's five-game absence, Calcaterra recorded four receptions for 41 yards on eight targets while playing at least 28 percent of the Eagles' offensive snaps in each contest. In his other seven appearances this season when Goedert was available, Calcaterra played less than a quarter of the snaps each time while totaling just one reception.

It was a busy day by Calcaterra's standards, as he'd only been targeted three times all year heading into the week. He was involved right from the start, catching a 13-yard pass on the Eagles' first play of the game. He got his team into the red zone with an 11-yard catch later on the same drive, but he failed to add to his tally the rest of the way.

Dallas Goedert (shoulder) missed his second consecutive game, but the Eagles have adjusted to his absence by hardly looking to their tight ends at all. In Week 11, it was Jack Stoll who provided the unit's lone target and lone reception, and it was Calcaterra who got that honor Week 12. Nothing in the Eagles' game plan suggests that any of the team's tight ends will have fantasy relevance until Goedert returns.

The Eagles selected Calcaterra in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 198th overall.
Calcaterra had an interesting route to the NFL. He nearly ended his career after sustaining concussions at Oklahoma and was out of football in 2020. Calcaterra returned to the gridiron at SMU in 2021 and built on the potential he showed when he was in Norman. He caught 38 of 63 targets for 465 yards and four touchdowns in an explosive SMU passing game. Calcaterra (6-foot-4, 241 pounds) ran a 4.62 in the 40-yard dash at the combine, which projects well for his ability to attack the seam in Philadelphia's offense. He's a worthwhile late-round gamble for the Eagles.
