  • Rams' Ronnie Rivers: Healthy scratch for TNF

Rivers (coach's decision) has been ruled inactive for Thursday's game against the Raiders. The 23-year-old rookie was signed from the practice squad ahead of the Rams' Week 13 loss to Kansas City, slotting in as the third-string running back behind Cam Akers and Kyren Williams. However, Rivers exclusively played on special teams over the last two games, and he'll be replaced by Malcolm Brown, who was elevated from the practice squad for Thursday's game. Rivers' next opportunity to suit up will come against the Packers on Monday, Dec. 19.

  • Rams' Ronnie Rivers: Signed to active roster

The Rams signed Rivers to their active roster Saturday. Rivers has gone back and forth between the practice squad and the active roster this season, and he's suited up in three games with the Rams, tallying nine carries for 21 yards and five catches for 29 yards. His signing to the active roster comes four days after Los Angeles waived former lead back Darrell Henderson. Rivers will likely work as the Rams' No. 3 ball carrier behind Cam Akers and Kyren Williams on Sunday against Kansas City.

  • Ronnie Rivers: Returns to practice squad

Rivers reverted to the Rams' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Rivers was elevated from the practice squad for the third game in a row ahead of Sunday's 16-13 loss to Tampa Bay. However, the rookie running back did not record a rush for the first time during this span, as played just four special-teams snaps Week 9. Rivers has totaled nine rushes for 21 yards and five receptions (on five targets) for 29 yards in 2022, and he'll now require a full spot on the active roster in order to suit up for the Rams moving forward this season.

  • Rams' Ronnie Rivers: Rejoins active roster

Rivers was elevated from the Rams' practice squad Saturday. Perhaps more crucially, rookie running back Kyren Williams (ankle) was not activated off injured reserve, meaning Rivers and Darrell Henderson are expected to operate as the top options out of the backfield come Sunday. Head coach Sean McVay didn't rule out the possibility of Cam Akers making his return after a two-game absence due to personal reasons, but even if Akers were to be active, it seems entirely possible the combo of Rivers and Henderson will continue to operate at the top of the depth chart given the former's public spats with the team. Rivers carried the ball eight times for 21 yards and operated as the backfield's top pass catcher (4-15) in last week's loss to the 49ers.

  • Rams' Ronnie Rivers: Reverts to practice squad

Rivers reverted to the Rams' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. With Cam Akers (personal) out and Darrell Henderson dealing with an illness, Rivers was elevated to the active roster and played a sizable role against the 49ers. Rivers was barely out-snapped by Henderson, 24-21, but the former led the team in rushing attempts (eight) and rushing yards (21) while securing all four of his targets for 15 yards. Given the Rams opted to use the undrafted rookie out of Fresno State ahead of Malcolm Brown in Week 8, it seems likely that Rivers will get another elevation in Week 9, regardless of Henderson's and Akers' statuses.

  • Rams' Ronnie Rivers: Suiting up vs. San Francisco

The Rams activated Rivers from their practice squad to the active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game versus the 49ers. It will be the second game this season Rivers is active for the Rams. After Week 8, the rookie UDFA out of Fresno State will only be eligible for one more elevation from the practice squad before he would need to be signed to the team's 53-man roster in order to play.

  • Ronnie Rivers: Shifts back to practice squad

Rivers reverted to the Rams' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Rivers was called up on game day for the first time since joining the Rams' practice squad Sept. 15, as running back Cam Akers (personal) was ruled inactive ahead of Sunday's win over Carolina. While the undrafted rookie played just three of the team's 65 offensive snaps, he still recorded one carry for no gain to go along with one catch (on one target) for 14 yards. Rivers could stand to see another elevation from the practice squad if Akers remains out for Los Angeles' next game against San Francisco on Sunday, Oct. 30.

  • Rams' Ronnie Rivers: Plays just three snaps

Rivers caught his lone target for 14 yards and rushed once for no gain in Sunday's 24-10 win versus the Panthers. Rivers was called on to provide depth for Darrell Henderson and Malcolm Brown with Cam Akers (personal) out, and while he only saw the field for three snaps on offense in his NFL debut, he was able to net a pair of touches. The catch was particularly a relevant play for the Rams, as the rookie was able to break off a 14-yard gain in the red zone before Matt Gay tapped in a 21-yard field goal to tie the game. The Rams may use the bye week to address the running back position with outside help, but if they choose to stand pat, Rivers may see more work as a depth piece in future weeks.

  • Rams' Ronnie Rivers: Suiting up vs. Carolina

The Rams elevated Rivers from the practice squad to their active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game versus the Panthers. Rivers will make his NFL debut in Week 6 with regular starting running back Cam Akers (personal) out. The rookie is small (5-foot-9, 195 pounds) and slow (4.60-second 40) by NFL standards, but he showed some ability as a pass catcher at Fresno State.

  • Ronnie Rivers: Signs with practice squad

Rivers was signed to the Rams' practice squad Thursday. Rivers went undrafted out of Fresno State in 2022 and has since spent time with the Cardinals and Seahawks. He now finds another opportunity with the Rams. In a corresponding move, fellow practice squad member Trey Ragas (undisclosed) was placed on the injured list.

  • Seahawks' Ronnie Rivers: Signs with Seahawks

Rivers signed a contract with the Seahawks on Wednesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports. The 23-year-old running back is slated to add depth for Seattle, after the team placed linebacker Jon Rhattigan on the reserve/physically unable to perform list Wednesday. Rivers signed with the Cardinals back in May but was waived earlier this month. With just days before the Seahawks kick off their preseason finale Friday against the Cowboys, there's uncertainty if the rookie will suit up given the short turnaround. Among Rivers' competition for a roster spot in the team's backfield is Josh Johnson and Darwin Thompson.

  • Ronnie Rivers: Parts ways with Arizona

Rivers was waived by the Cardinals on Sunday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. Rivers signed with Arizona as an undrafted free agent at the beginning of May, and he played just three offensive snaps during Friday's preseason opener against the Bengals. He spent five collegiate seasons at Fresno State, and it's not yet clear whether he'll land a role with another professional team.
