McGowan has seemingly recovered from an undisclosed injury suffered in August that led to him being waived from Washington's injured reserve. The 23-year-old was one of three receivers the Giants worked out Monday alongside Damiere Byrd and Jalen Camp, as the team looks to improve an offense that's gone three straight weeks without scoring a touchdown.

McGowan (undisclosed) reached an injury settlement with the Commanders on Thursday, per the NFL's transaction log.
McGowan reverted to Washington's injured reserve after going unclaimed off waivers. He was in danger of missing the entire 2023 campaign before the injury settlement was reached. The nature of his injury remains unclear, but he will be able to play again once his health is back up to par.

McGowan reverted to the Commanders' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
McGowan was promoted to the active roster for the first time Sunday after joining Washington's practice squad in early September. However, the rookie wideout played just one offensive snap and did not record any statistics against the Packers. McGowan will now be eligible for two more elevations with the Commanders this season.

The Commanders waived McGowan on Tuesday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
McGowan signed with the Commanders in May as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia Tech, where he caught 37 passes for 467 yards and seven touchdowns during his final collegiate campaign. McCowan caught one of six targets for 27 yards during the team's first two exhibition games but didn't suit up for the preseason finale and now finds himself among a wave of cuts ahead of Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline.
