Gillespie is now in line to play for his third different team in three NFL seasons. Across the last pair of campaigns, the 2021 fourth-round draft pick has primarily operated as a special-teams contributor over his 15 combined appearances as a member of the Raiders and Jaguars.

Gillespie recorded eight tackles while almost exclusively on special teams over 11 games as a rookie with Las Vegas. The 2021 fourth-round pick was then traded to Tennessee in mid-August, but he was let go as part of the team's final roster cuts later that month. With Gillepsie now on IR, the Raiders elevated Patrick Onwuasor to their active roster, while they signed P.J. Johnson to their practice squad.
