Panthers' Spencer Brown: Staying in Carolina
The Panthers signed Brown to a reserve/future contract Monday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.
Brown spent most of the 2022 season on Carolina's practice squad, aside from being called up to the active roster for Weeks 8 and 9. In those contests, Brown handled nine carries for 43 yards while also securing two catches on three targets for 10 yards. He'll compete for a roster spot heading into the 2023 campaign.

Panthers' Spencer Brown: Heads back to practice squad
Brown reverted to Carolina's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Brown was called up to the Panthers' active roster for both Weeks 8 and 9, and he totaled nine carries for 43 yards while also nabbing two catches on three targets for 10 yards over the two contests. With Chuba Hubbard (ankle) unavailable, the 23-year-old ranked third among Carolina ball carriers with 13 offensive snaps in Sunday's Week 9 loss to the Bengals. Should Hubbard be unable to play again Thursday versus the Falcons, Brown would be a likely candidate to be elevated for a third straight week.

Panthers' Spencer Brown: Gets five touches
Brown rushed three times for 16 yards and caught two of three targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 42-21 loss to the Bengals.
Brown and Raheem Blackshear featured behind starting tailback D'Onta Foreman. Of the trio, it was the rookie Blackshear who was most productive, totaling 53 yards and a touchdown on nine touches. With a quick turnaround in Week 10 to face the Falcons on Thursday night, Carolina may remain without Chuba Hubbard (ankle), potentially opening opportunities for Brown and Blackshear once again.

Brown was elevated from the Panthers' practice squad to the active roster ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Bengals, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
With Chuba Hubbard (ankle) set for his second consecutive absence, Brown was elevated to the active roster to provide depth to the running back corps. He was also active in Week 8, when he tallied six rushes for 27 yards while working behind D'Onta Foreman.
