After reverting to the Titans' injured reserve, Tennessee waived Thompson with an injury settlement Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Thompson spent the first half of training camp on the active/non-football illness list. After returning, he began competing for a depth safety role with the club. Now that he has reached an injury settlement, the 24-year-old will be free to play again this season.

The Titans signed Thompson to their active roster from Jacksonville's practice squad Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Thompson has yet to make his regular-season NFL debut, but he has the speed (4.40-second 40) to at least make a splash as a special-teams gunner. It could still be a while before the youngster sees the field on defense, though.
