  • Chargers' J.C. Jackson: Inactive Sunday

Jackson is inactive for Sunday's game against the Vikings.

The cornerback is out for this Week 3 contest despite not having a listed injury. Jackson played 44 snaps in a Week 1 loss to the Dolphins and 41 in a Week 2 defeat to Tennessee. The sixth-year pro and Second Team All-Pro in 2021 missed a majority of the 2022 season after rupturing his patellar tendon.

  • Chargers' J.C. Jackson: Bad outing in loss

Jackson did not record a tackle, but he did register three pass breakups and an interception in Sunday's 36-34 loss to the Dolphins.

Jackson only played 44 defensive snaps, fewest among the Chargers' starting trio of corners. Daniel Popper of The Athletic reported Jackson had been removed from the game late in the fourth quarter and the assumption was that it was due to some sort of injury. Instead, it seems as if Jackson was effectively benched for Ja'Sir Taylor, although Wednesday's injury report could be telling. Jackson ruptured his patellar tendon back in Week 7 of 2022, and his performance in Week 1 certainly seemed like a player still working himself back into game shape. While he did record an interception, the veteran made a boneheaded play taking it out of the end zone, costing the Chargers nearly 20 yards in field position. Jackson also inexplicably caused a pass interference on the final play of the first half, needlessly giving away a free field goal on a ball that had zero chance of making it to the end zone. Jackson's massive contract will likely afford him more opportunities, but Week 1 was a difficult look for the former Pro Bowler.

  • Chargers' J.C. Jackson: Available for Week 1

Jackson wasn't listed on the Chargers' injury report Wednesday.

Jackson was managing knee soreness during training camp as he was in the final stages of rehabbing from a ruptured patellar tendon suffered in Week 7 last season. He's seemingly past that injury and will start at corner opposite Asante Samuel for Week 1 against the Dolphins.

  • Chargers' J.C. Jackson: Practicing again

Jackson (knee) returned to practice Monday, Elliot Teaford of the Orange County Register reports.

Jackson sat out practices Saturday and Sunday, but the Maryland product is good to go now. According to head coach Brandon Staley, the team is "phasing him back in with the recommendations from the medical staff," as Jackson continues his path to a full recovery after rupturing his patellar tendon last October.

  • Chargers' J.C. Jackson: Dealing with knee soreness

Jackson exited practice early on Friday due to knee soreness, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.

Jackson is returning from a ruptured patellar tendon suffered in Week 7 last season. According to Thiry, Jackson has gradually been working into drills at camp despite not opening training camp on the PUP list. Jackson is entering the second year of a five-year, $82.5 million contract.

  • Chargers' J.C. Jackson: Begins camp healthy

Jackson avoided the PUP list to start Chargers camp, Eric Smith of the team's official site reports.

After being sidelined for Los Angeles' final 13 games last season with a kneecap injury, the veteran corner seems to be healthy again. Jackson was off to a rocky start in his first season with the Chargers, giving up an 149.3 passer rating when targeted through five games. Los Angeles is hopeful that the star veteran can return to his 2021 form, when he finished second in the NFL in interceptions and receiving second-team All-Pro honors.
