Player Outlook
In just two years, Chase has proven to be among the elite wide receivers in Fantasy Football. But should he be the first receiver drafted? While he ranks among the top 12 in basic and high-level receiving stats over the past two years, including targets per game (9.03) and end-zone targets (27), he is behind Justin Jefferson in nearly every one. About the only way Chase could catch Jefferson is with a higher target rate, which would mean he'd have to dominate in Cincinnati while Jefferson loses serious volume in Minnesota. That's an unlikely combination. Still, Chase should finish as the second-best receiver in Fantasy, just as he did last season among WRs who played 10-plus games. Expect the Bengal to be taken within the first three picks in all non-Superflex/two-QB PPR format drafts this summer (maybe the first six picks in a non-PPR).

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Breaks out with 12 catches on MNF

Chase hauled in 12 of his 15 targets for 141 receiving yards in Monday's 19-16 win over the Rams. Chase busted out of his early-season slump in a big way with a career best 12-catch game in a primetime matchup. The only thing missing from the superstar's receiving line was a trip to the end zone, which has eluded the wideout through three games this season. Joe Burrow (calf) was limited by injury for the third consecutive week, but he finally was able to get his top weapon involved after the duo combined for just 70 total yards in Cincinnati's first two contests. Chase's production is tied heavily to Burrow's health, and the QB told Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic in a post-game interview that his calf made it through Monday's win without a setback. With his first big game of the season out of the way, Chase will look for his first trip to the end zone in 2023 when the Bengals visit the Titans on Sunday.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Another quiet week

Chase had five catches for 31 yards on eight targets in the Bengals' Week 2 loss to the Ravens. The Bengals struggled to unlock Chase, with almost all of his targets coming on shorter routes. Teammate Joe Burrow appeared to tweak his calf injury very late in the game, which could continue to drag down Chase's production next week against the Rams.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Top DFS Play

Chase and the Bengals offense was a big-time bust in Week 1. With Tyreek Hill and Justin Jefferson both off the main slate, I am going right back to Chase. He doesn't often have two bad games in a row and he has had his way with the Ravens in the past. Chase has topped 19 Fantasy points in four of five games against the Ravens, including the playoffs.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Quiet in Week 1 loss

Chase caught five of nine targets for 39 yards and rushed once for two yards in Sunday's 24-3 loss to the Browns. Chase accounted for more than half of Joe Burrow's first-half passing yardage, but that was unfortunately just 19 of 36 yards as the Bengals trailed 10-0 at halftime. The star receiver drew an 18-yard pass interference penalty to set up a field goal for the Bengals' first points on their first possession after halftime, but it was more of the same from there, as Burrow finished with a meager 82 passing yards. Fellow wide receiver Tee Higgins failed to catch any of his eight targets, so at least Chase still managed to salvage something from this disastrous road performance out of the Bengals' offense. Chase and his teammates will look to bounce back at home in Week 2 against the Ravens.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Practices with Burrow on Wednesday

Chase took the field Wednesday alongside quarterback Joe Burrow (calf), who was a full practice participant for the first time since late July. Re-establishing chemistry shouldn't be an issue since the receiver and quarterback already have four years of experience together dating back to their college days at LSU, but the fact that Burrow is set to put in a full week of practice should at least ease any concerns fantasy managers might have had about Chase's outlook heading into Sunday's season opener at Cleveland. Compared to his rookie season, Chase took a big step back in terms of efficiency in Year 2 (11.4 yards per target to 7.7), but he saw a major spike in opportunities (7.5 targets per game to 11.3). A healthier Tee Higgins could result in Chase's targets per game taking a slight hit in 2023, but the latter should still have a legitimate chance at emerging as the No. 1 overall receiver in fantasy football while he remains the top playmaker in what shapes up as one of the NFL's most potent offenses.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Top DFS Play

Chase is WR1 this week and he's worth the pay-up in DFS. He's averaged 20.6 FPPG over his last 17 games and he's at 23.98 in his last seven. Chase is still just 23 years old. His quarterback has only started 42 regular season games. This is an ascendant duo. Stack them before the pricing reflects that.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Preaching patience to Burrow

Speaking to NFL Network on Friday, Chase encouraged teammate Joe Burrow to fully recover from his calf injury, even if it means missing Week 1, Jay Morrison of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Chase elaborated: "I 100 percent mean that. I just want him to be 100 percent healthy to play. I don't want him rushing nothing. I don't want people in his ear telling him to play at a certain time. I just want him to be healthy." Chase has his own experience recovering from an injury and taking the extra week after being technically cleared to play. He took one extra week to rest when the Bengals played the Titans (and they won anyway) in Week 12 last season in order to allow him to be 100 percent down the stretch.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Six catches not enough in loss

Chase caught six of eight targets for 75 yards in Sunday's 23-20 AFC Championship Game loss to the Chiefs. Chase finished three targets and eight receiving yards shy of Tee Higgins' team-leading totals, and the former also was held out of the end zone for the first time this postseason while Higgins scored his first touchdown of the playoffs. The fifth overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft again was brilliant in his second NFL campaign, needing only 12 games to rack up 1,046 yards and nine TDs in the regular season before adding 220 yards and two more scores in three playoff games.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Scores in big win

Chase caught five of eight targets for 61 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Bills in the AFC divisional round. He also rushed once for three yards. Chase started the scoring with a 28-yard touchdown to cap Cincinnati's opening drive. The wideout had another touchdown grab overturned later in the game, but Chase still led the Bengals in receiving. Thanks to Sunday's win, he'll now prepare for next weekend's showdown with the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. Chase returned from injury to face Kansas City in Week 13 of the regular season and finished with seven catches for 97 yards in a 27-24 victory.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Finds end zone in playoff win

Chase caught nine of 12 targets for 84 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-17 wild-card round win over the Ravens. Chase was unstoppable early on, catching all six of his targets for 52 yards across Cincinnati's first two drives, the latter of which he capped with a seven-yard touchdown to take a 9-0 lead. The Ravens controlled time of possession thereafter and did a better job of containing Chase, but the star receiver's early contributions proved vital in the nail-biting win. Chase and the Bengals will travel to Buffalo in the AFC divisional round.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Dominates opportunity in Week 18

Chase recorded eight receptions on 13 targets for 86 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-16 win over Baltimore. Chase earned double-digit targets for the fourth consecutive game, and he nearly doubled up Tyler Boyd, who finished second on the team with seven looks. Chase displayed some big-play ability, highlighted by a 26-yard touchdown catch as well as big gains of 20 and 17 yards. He also served as a check-down option for Joe Burrow, tallying short gains of 10 and nine yards. Despite having his season cut short by four games due to a hip injury, Chase surpassed 1,000 receiving yards and managed nine touchdowns. He'll be a key to the Bengals' postseason run.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Mixed results

Chase had eight catches for 79 yards in Sunday's win over the Patriots, but he also lost a critical fumble in the second half and was the target on an interception by Marcus Jones that was returned for a touchdown. The pick-six was a result of a cross-up between Chase and Joe Burrow, as Chase continued a go-route while Burrow threw a back-shoulder play. Chas has posted at least seven catches and 60 yards in all four games since returning from a hip injury.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Grabs eighth touchdown in win

Chase had seven receptions (13 targets) for 60 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-23 win over the Buccaneers. Chase was bottled up for the majority of this contest before Joe Burrow found his favorite target for a short score in fourth quarter. It wasn't the most efficient use of 13 targets from the star wideout, but the touchdown put a bow on a solid point total for managers in the thick of the fantasy playoffs. Chase draws a tough matchup against the Patriots in Week 16, as Bill Belichick's defenses are notorious for keying in on the opposition's top offensive weapon. New England held Las Vegas' Davante Adams to a 4/28/0 receiving line in Week 15, so the Bengals will have to get creative in getting Chase open Saturday.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Top DFS Play

With both Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd injured, Week 15 could be an epic explosion from Chase. In his last three games with double-digit targets, Chase has 25 catches for 381 yards and five touchdowns. Double-digit targets is all but a guarantee if the Bengals don't get healthier.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Keys Bengals win

Chase had 10 catches for 119 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Browns. He also had one carry for six yards. Chase was operating without Tee Higgins (hamstring) and Tyler Boyd (finger) essentially for the entire game, after Boyd got hurt on the first pass attempt in the first quarter. Nevertheless, the Browns couldn't find a way to stop Chase. He was sacked once on an attempted trick play, losing nine yards - make sure to watch how your stat provider handles that play in terms of your fantasy scoring.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Nearly 100 yards in return

Chase caught seven passes for 97 yards in the Bengals' 27-24 win over the Chiefs on Sunday. Chase didn't get in the end zone, but he wrought plenty of damage on the Chiefs' secondary, and when he wasn't targeted he drew away coverage to leave others open. He had an additional catch overturned by an offensive pass interference call.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Returns to action Sunday

Chase (hip) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports. Chase, who returned to a full practice Friday, is thus slated to return to game action for the first time since Week 7, with the wideout having suffered a hip injury in Cincinnati's Week 6 win over the Saints. In his return to action Sunday, it remains to be seen if Chase will log his pre-injury allotment of snaps, though Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network suggests that the talented pass catcher isn't expected to face playing-time limitations versus Kansas City. In that context, Chase possesses Week 13 lineup value in the absence of any in-game setbacks. In seven games to date, the 2021 first-rounder has compiled a fantasy-friendly 47/605/6 stat line on 74 targets.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Likely to return against Chiefs

Chase (hip), who is officially listed as questionable, is likely to play Sunday against the Chiefs, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Chase has missed Cincinnati's last four games with the injury but has practiced for the last two weeks. He turned in a full session Friday, a good indication that he may be able to return. That said, Chase's status won't be officially confirmed until Cincinnati releases its inactive list 90 minutes before Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Practices fully, listed as questionable

Chase (hip) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs after practicing fully Friday, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports. At this stage, Chase is trending toward a return to action this weekend following a four-game absence due to a hip injury. "He did everything we needed to see," coach Zac Taylor noted Friday of the wideout's running and cutting. "I hate to use the words 'for sure,' but I'm optimistic. He's on track." Added context regarding Chase's Week 13 status should arrive late Saturday or early Sunday, but either way it will still be worth confirming his status when the Bengals' inactives are posted ahead of the team's 4:25 ET kickoff.

  • Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Expected to return Week 13

Chase (hip) is expected to return from his four-game absence versus Kansas City in Week 13, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The Bengals reportedly considered having Chase retake the field for Sunday's win over Tennessee, but the team ultimately opted to play it safe with the star wideout and give him a bit more time to fully recover. The expectation is that Chase will be available alongside Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd for Sunday's potentially high-scoring affair.
