Mitchell was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list last December due to blood clots in his calf and lung, but it appears he's moved past the potentially career-ending issue and is healthy to start offseason workouts. The undrafted offensive tackle out of Louisiana should compete for a reserve role in 2023.

Jets' Max Mitchell: Illness revealed
Mitchell was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list Wednesday due to blood clots in his calf and lung, Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports.
Mitchell was ruled out for the remainder of the season on Wednesday due to what at the time was an unknown illness. Hughes notes that Mitchell is in good spirits and the blood clots are not expected to be a long-term or career-threatening issue. With his season officially over, Mitchell will focus on getting healthy and being ready to compete in 2023.

Mitchell (illness) was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Mitchell had just returned from IR on Nov. 27 after seven-week absence, and he'll now miss the remainder of the season. The specifics of Mitchell's illness are still unknown, but whatever it may be was enough that the team has decided to shut him down for the year. The Jets now currently have only one offensive tackle that does not have some kind of injury designation going into Sunday's game with the Bills.

The Jets placed Mitchell (knee) on injured reserve Saturday.
Mitchell was carted off the field during the team's Week 4 win over the Steelers due to a knee injury and will now be forced to miss at least four games after landing on injured reserve. The Jets are expected to get Duane Brown back from IR in Week 5, so he'll take over as the starting left tackle while Conor McDermott mans the right side moving forward.
