  • Marcell Ateman: Gets let go

Ateman was cut from the Bills' practice squad Tuesday. Ateman's exit corresponds with the addition of cornerback Herb Miller to the team's practice squad. With Christian Benford dealing with a shoulder injury and Tre'Davious White suffering a season-ending torn Achilles injury, corner depth became a priority for Buffalo. Ateman last played an NFL game in 2021 and caught his last pass in 2019 while with the Raiders.

  • Marcell Ateman: Rejoins Bills

The Bills signed Ateman to their practice squad Thursday, Alec White of the team's official site reports. Ateman signed with the Bills this offseason and spent training camp with the team. He was cut Tuesday but will now be back to provide depth to Buffalo's pass-catching corps. Ateman last recorded an NFL reception in 2019 as a member of the Raiders but put together a solid spring with the XFL's St. Louis Battlehawks.

  • Marcell Ateman: Gets let go

Ateman was cut by the Bills on Tuesday, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports. Ateman joined the Bills in June after spending the 2022 season on the sidelines. The Oklahoma State product had spent three years with the Raiders from 2018 through 2021, but he never played more than 11 games or secured more than 15 targets in a season.

  • Bills' Marcell Ateman: Signs with Bills

Ateman and the Bills agreed on a one-year contract Thursday. Ateman will join Buffalo after he spent the 2022 campaign as a free agent. The wide receiver last appeared in a game in 2021 with the Raiders, failing to garner a target in his only contest with the squad that year. Considering that his last reception came in 2019, Ateman will almost certainly be a practice squad player if he sticks with the Bills during the 2023 season.

  • Marcell Ateman: Cut by Arizona

The Cardinals waived Ateman on Monday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Ateman linked up with Arizona in early August after being released from the Raiders' practice squad in November. The 2018 seventh-round pick failed to register a catch over three total snaps during his lone game played with Las Vegas last year. Ateman will now look to join the third team of his professional career after moving to waivers Monday.

  • Marcell Ateman: Let go by Raiders

Ateman has been released from the Raiders' practice squad. In a corresponding move, the Raiders added Tyron Johnson to their practice squad. He'll provide the team with added wideout depth behind Bryan Edwards, Zay Jones, Hunter Renfrow, DeSean Jackson and Dillon Stoner.

  • Raiders' Marcell Ateman: Re-ups with Raiders

The Raiders signed Ateman to a reserve/future contract Wednesday. After making 18 appearances for the Raiders between the 2018 and 2019 seasons, Ateman spent the 2020 campaign exclusively on the organization's practice squad following his release at the conclusion of training camp. The big-bodied wideout will look to continue his development with Las Vegas this offseason.

  • Marcell Ateman: Back on practice squad

The Raiders signed Ateman to the practice squad Tuesday. Ateman was cut from the same practice squad last Thursday. He's a candidate to be elevated to the active roster for this Thursday's game against the Chargers because Henry Ruggs is on the reserve/COVID-19 list and won't play. Ateman hasn't played since 2019, when he posted a 5-116-0 line through 11 games with the Raiders.

  • Marcell Ateman: Cut from practice squad

The Raiders cut Ateman from the practice squad Thursday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports. Ateman didn't suit up for game action with the Raiders in 2020, but he appeared in 18 games for the team from 2018-19. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound wideout will likely look to catch on with a practice squad elsewhere in the league.

  • Marcell Ateman: Dealing with injury

Ateman (undisclosed) was placed on the practice squad injured list Saturday. Ateman didn't make the team's final roster following training camp, and now he won't be able to practice as he rehabs from an undisclosed injury. If the Raiders need another receiver on the active roster, Keelan Doss will likely be the first call.

  • Marcell Ateman: Joins Raiders' practice squad

The Raiders signed Ateman to the practice squad Sunday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. After recording 116 yards on five receptions in 2019, Ateman failed to make the 53-man roster this year after the additions of Henry Ruggs, Bryan Edwards and Nelson Agholor. He's joined by Keelan Doss as the team's practice squad receivers who could be called upon if an injury bug surfaces.

  • Raiders' Marcell Ateman: Season-high seven targets in finale

Ateman caught three of seven targets for 46 yards in the Raiders' Week 17 loss to the Broncos, finishing his 2019 campaign with five receptions on 10 targets for 116 yards in 11 games. Ateman's role in the Raiders' aerial attack was severely limited throughout his second year in the league until finally logging a season-high 52 offensive snaps and seven targets in Week 17. He'll look to compete for a roster spot again in 2020 alongside fellow reserves Rico Gafford and Keelan Doss behind current starters Tyrell Williams (foot), Hunter Renfrow and Zay Jones.

  • Raiders' Marcell Ateman: Active in Week 15

Ateman (ribs) is active for Sunday's Week 15 tilt against the Jaguars. Ateman will overcome his questionable designation to suit up Sunday but he still has an uphill battle to fantasy relevance. Even with fellow wideout Hunter Renfrow (ribs) out of action, Ateman remains no better than No. 5 in the receiver pecking order.

  • Raiders' Marcell Ateman: Managing rib injury

Ateman is questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars with a rib injury, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports. Ateman was added to the injury report Thursday as a limited practice participant and his status for Sunday remains in doubt. The 25-year-old hasn't played double-digit snaps over the past six games, so his availability is unlikely to significantly impact Oakland's offensive gameplan.

  • Raiders' Marcell Ateman: Catches only target in win

Ateman caught his lone target for a 34-yard gain in Sunday's 31-24 win over Detroit. Ateman played just four snaps but made his one touch count, hauling in a deep ball over the middle to set up the Raiders inside the 10 for an eventual touchdown. The 25-year-old has appeared in just three games and made just two catches this year, but they've both been for gains of more than 30 yards. He'll still be buried on the depth chart as the Raiders host the Chargers in Week 10.

  • Raiders' Marcell Ateman: Notches 36-yard reception Sunday

Ateman caught his lone target for 36 receiving yards in Sunday's 42-24 loss to the Packers. Ateman logged 23-plus offensive snaps for the second straight game with fellow receivers Tyrell Williams (foot), Dwayne Harris (ankle) and Zay Jones (coach's decision) all sidelined, but Ateman has recorded just one total reception during this span of increased opportunity. Williams' plantar fasciitis may keep him out in Week 8 against the Texans as well, which could lend Ateman additional chances to prove his worthiness of a roster spot in Oakland moving forward.

  • Raiders' Marcell Ateman: Serving as No. 4 option

Ateman will step up as the Raiders' No. 4 wide receiver against the Packers on Sunday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports. Ateman is facing a notable opportunity with Tyrell Williams (foot), Zay Jones (coach's decision) and Dwayne Harris (ankle) all inactive. The big-bodied wideout is a candidate to see key looks in Oakland's aerial attack Sunday, though he may not have a consistent role once the team's other weapons get healthy.

  • Raiders' Marcell Ateman: Posts 49 yards in preseason loss

Ateman caught five of seven targets for 49 yards in Thursday's 17-15 preseason loss to Seattle. Ateman had a solid showing in his final opportunity to earn a roster spot this preseason. Fellow fringe wideout Keelan Doss had more receptions and yards, but he also received a team-high 12 targets. There is likely only room for one -- if either -- of the lanky wideouts on the 53-man roster, so we will see who head coach Jon Gruden decides to roll with when roster cuts are due Saturday.

  • Raiders' Marcell Ateman: Long gainer as home team wins

Ateman was targeted once and turned that opportunity into a 19-yard gain during Oakland's 14-3 win against the Rams on Saturday. Entering the league as a seventh-round draft choice out of Oklahoma State, Ateman was cut last September before rejoining the Raiders in November, and proceeding to average three receptions for 32 yards over his first four appearances. In his final three games, however, Ateman managed just three total receptions for 27 yards. Barring a bombardment of injuries, Ateman isn't expected to get the requisite amount of playing time to produce a lucrative fantasy campaign.

  • Raiders' Marcell Ateman: Sticking with Oakland

The Raiders signed Ateman, an exclusive rights free agent, on Monday. Ateman has been nudged down the depth chart throughout the offseason due to the trade for Antonio Brown and signings of Tyrell Williams, J.J. Nelson and Ryan Grant (toe). Still, Ateman may get in the act as an X receiver in 2019, considering GM Mike Mayock called him the projected starter at the spot before all the additions. In a seven-game cameo to conclude last season, Ateman hauled in 15 of his 31 targets for 154 yards and one touchdown.
