  • Khalfani Muhammad: Cut by Cardinals

Muhammad was let go by the Cardinals on Saturday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports. Muhammad landed a reserve/futures contract with Arizona in January after he spent time on the Vikings' practice squad, but he was unable to remain on the roster ahead of the preseason opener. The 2017 seventh-rounder still hasn't appeared in an NFL game.

The Vikings signed Muhammad to the practice squad Monday. The Titans selected Muhammad in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft, but he has yet to play in an NFL game. He's the only running back on the team's practice squad, so he'll likely be called up if there are any injuries in the active roster's backfield.

Muhammad signed to the Cardinals' practice squad Wednesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports. The 26-year-old was waived by the Broncos over the summer but will now provide backfield depth for the Cardinals with Kenyan Drake (ankle) sidelined. Muhammad has spent time on Tennessee's and Denver's practice squads over the last few years and is still looking to make his NFL debut.

  • Khalfani Muhammad: Waived by Broncos

The Broncos waived Muhammad on Monday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports. Despite spending the 2019 season on the Broncos' practice squad, Muhammad wasn't able to stick with the team for 2020. The 2017 seventh-round pick still hasn't made his NFL debut since initially being selected by the Titans.

  • Khalfani Muhammad: Let go by Broncos

Muhammad was waived by the Broncos on Saturday, Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post reports. Muhammad was going to have to make an impact at training camp in order to jump the depth ahead of him, but he was ultimately unable to do so. The 24-year-old has been a practice-squad regular throughout his first two seasons in the league and appears on track to do so again.

  • Broncos' Khalfani Muhammad: Team-high rushing tally

Muhammad rushed 11 times for 70 yards and brought in one of three targets for six yards in the Broncos' 20-7 preseason win over the Cardinals on Thursday. He also fumbled once, but it was recovered by the offense. Muhammad's final line appeared significantly more efficient than the one he'd generated during last Saturday's loss to the Rams, as a game-long 47-yard scamper significantly boosted his numbers. The 2017 seventh-round pick is battling Devontae Jackson for a possible No. 4 running back role, and with the latter also having performed well Thursday, it will be interesting to see which of the two garners a final roster spot.

  • Broncos' Khalfani Muhammad: Garners 45 total yards in loss

Muhammad (undisclosed) rushed 10 times for 30 yards and brought in both of his targets for 15 yards in the Broncos' 10-6 preseason loss to the Rams on Saturday. Muhammad is battling for a reserve running back role with veteran Theo Riddick (shoulder) projected to miss the first several weeks of the regular season. He made a decent case for himself Saturday, with primary competition Devontae Jackson logging just four carries for 11 yards and two receptions for three yards. The fact Muhammad paced the Broncos backfield in carries was a good sign, although his inefficiency with those opportunities was a blemish on his night. Muhammad will have one more chance to make his case when the Broncos close out the preseason against the Cardinals next Thursday.

  • Broncos' Khalfani Muhammad: Not practicing

Muhammad (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Saturday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports. It's unclear whether Muhammad will be available for the team's third preseason game Monday against the 49ers, but more information regarding his status should arrive closer to the contest.

  • Broncos' Khalfani Muhammad: Takes step back in Seattle

Muhammad lost four yards on three carries, gained 10 yards on two catches, and had a 24-yard kick return during Thursday's 22-14 loss to Seattle. After being one of the stars of the Hall of Fame Game, Muhammad struggled to find room against Seattle. The Broncos' top three backs seem to be Phillip Lindsay, Royce Freeman and Theo Riddick. It's possible that the team keeps a fourth -- mostly for special teams purposes. If that proves to be the case, Muhammad has less experience than Devontae Booker, but Muhammad has looked better in the preseason, with two returns for 48 yards as compared to Booker's single return for 12 yards.

  • Broncos' Khalfani Muhammad: Shines with 98 all-purpose yards

Muhammad rushed seven times for 50 yards and a touchdown, brought in four of five targets for 24 yards and added one kickoff return for 24 yards in the Broncos' 14-10 preseason win over the Falcons on Thursday. Muhammad has reportedly been making a strong impression in camp, so his ability to immediately transfer that over to preseason is certainly a notable feat for the 2017 seventh-round pick. Muhammad ended up leading the Broncos in both rushing and receiving yards, while also pacing the squad in receptions. Muhammad's ability to play special teams naturally ups his chances of securing a roster spot, but he still faces a formidable challenge, especially after the signing of veteran Theo Riddick on Thursday.
