  • Chiefs' Willie Gay: Status in question for Super Bowl

Gay (shoulder) is listed as questionable after the first week of preparation ahead of Super Bowl LVII against the Eagles on Sunday, Feb. 12.

Gay was listed as limited on Wednesday's estimated injury report before operating under practice restrictions Thursday and Friday, the result of a shoulder issue. Still, he has one week to go to show he's healthy enough to remain a regular in the Chiefs' linebacking corps for the Super Bowl.

  • Chiefs' Mecole Hardman: Doubtful for Super Bowl

Hardman (pelvis) is listed as doubtful after the first week of preparation ahead of Super Bowl LVII versus the Eagles on Sunday, Feb. 12.

Making his first appearance since Week 9 during this past Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Bengals, Hardman aggravated his pelvic injury in the second half and now appears to be trending toward an absence from the upcoming Super Bowl, as coach Andy Reid intimated Thursday to Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com. Still, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported Thursday that the Chiefs are seeking additional opinions on Hardman to see if he may have a chance to suit up Feb. 12. Hardman's activity level next Wednesday through Friday likely will be the determining factor in that regard.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Questionable for Super Bowl

Toney (ankle/hamstring) is listed as questionable after the first week of preparation ahead of Super Bowl LVII against the Eagles on Sunday, Feb. 12.

Toney picked up ankle and hamstring injuries in this past Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Bengals, which contained him to just four snaps on offense. Both Toney and JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) have questionable designations after this week, while Mecole Hardman (pelvis) is doubtful and already has been deemed unlikely to play in the Super Bowl by coach Andy Reid. If this latter point comes to pass, the statuses of Toney and Smith-Schuster become of greater import to see if one or both will be available to quarterback Patrick Mahomes (ankle).

  • Chiefs' JuJu Smith-Schuster: Status in question for Super Bowl

Smith-Schuster (knee) is listed as questionable after the first week of preparation ahead of Super Bowl LVII versus the Eagles on Sunday, Feb. 12.

Smith-Schuster is dealing with some residual swelling in his left knee following this past Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Bengals, from which he was forced out early. Both Smith-Schuster and Kadarius Toney (ankle/hamstring) have questionable designations after this week, while Mecole Hardman (pelvis) is doubtful and already has been deemed unlikely to play in the Super Bowl by coach Andy Reid. If this latter point comes to pass, the statuses of Smith-Schuster and Toney become of greater import to see if one or both will be available to quarterback Patrick Mahomes (ankle).

  • Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: In good standing for Super Bowl

Mahomes (ankle) doesn't have a designation after the first week of preparation ahead of Super Bowl LVII against the Eagles on Sunday, Feb. 12.

Super Bowl participants are required to file two full weeks of injury reports, and Mahomes remains in good standing to be the Chiefs' starting quarterback in the upcoming contest. Still, he continues to be listed on reports due to the high right-ankle sprain that he sustained in the divisional round against the Jaguars and played through in the AFC Championship Game versus the Bengals. Despite being somewhat hindered this past Sunday and also losing a good portion of Kansas City's receiving corps due to injury, Mahomes still put up a normal stat line (326 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions on 67 percent passing). Assuming he gets through next week unscathed, he'll have a much tougher test on his hands against the Eagles' top-ranked pass defense from the regular season (179.8 yards per game).

  • Chiefs' L'Jarius Sneed: Not practicing Friday

Sneed (concussion) didn't have a helmet at Friday's practice and watched from the side while his teammates warmed up, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports.

While he hasn't returned to practice, Sneed's presence on the sideline shows he's made progress through the concussion protocol since exiting the AFC Championship Game with a brain injury. His status will be crucial for Super Bowl matchups, as the Chiefs don't have great CB depth behind Sneed and Trent McDuffie to deal with Philadelphia's pair of 1,000-yard wideouts (A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith).

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Not practicing yet

Toney (ankle) didn't have a helmet at Friday's practice and was throwing a ball around with JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) while the rest of the team warmed up, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports.

Coach Andy Reid suggested Thursday that both Toney and Smith-Schuster have a chance to be ready for the Super Bowl, whereas Mecole Hardman (pelvis) is going for a second medical opinion and has already been deemed unlikely to play. Toney presumably needs to return for at least one practice next week to be active for the Super Bowl against Philadelphia.

  • Chiefs' JuJu Smith-Schuster: Not seen practicing

Smith-Schuster (knee) didn't appear to practice Friday, as he was playing catch with Kadarius Toney (ankle/hamstring) while the Chiefs' healthy players were warming up, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports.

Smith-Schuster and Toney at least appear in better shape than Mecole Hardman, who was completely absent from practice after reinjuring his pelvis in the AFC Championship Game. Smith-Schuster and Toney also were forced out early and failed to return, but coach Andy Reid suggested Thursday that both wideouts have a chance to be ready for the Super Bowl on Feb. 12. Hardman, on the other hand, has already been deemed unlikely to play by his head coach.
