  • Giants' Jihad Ward: Logs limited session Thursday

Ward (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

It's a step in the right direction for Ward, who returned to practice in a limited fashion Thursday, after he missed Wednesday's session while tending to a knee issue. The 287-pounder's activity during Friday's practice should provide more clarity regarding his Week 4 availability, but for now it looks like rookie Kayvon Thibodeaux is in line to receive more snaps at linebacker for New York now that he's healthy.

  • Giants' Leonard Williams: Fails to practice Thursday

Williams (knee) didn't practice Thursday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports

Williams has now logged back-to-back DNPs to open the week, after he suffered a right MCL sprain in Week 2 against the Panthers. The 302-pound defensive lineman will likely need to practice in some capacity Friday if he wants a shot at returning Sunday against the Bears. If Williams is indeed ruled out again, Nick Williams and Justin Ellis would be slated for an increased workload.

  • Giants' Cor'Dale Flott: Still not practicing

Flott (calf) was a non-participant in practice Thursday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Flott also missed practice Wednesday, and Duggan notes in his tweet that Flott is likely to miss a few weeks, as he's getting around using a walking scooter. The Giants secondary continues to deal with injuries, as Aaron Robinson (appendix), Justin Layne (concussion) and Nick McCloud (hamstring) are all listed questionable for Sunday against the Bears.

  • Giants' Kadarius Toney: Sits out Thursday

Toney (hamstring) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Toney played through a sore hamstring Week 2 against the Panthers, catching two of three targets for no yards. He hasn't practiced in the meantime, like fellow wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson (knee), but both players were seen sprinting on a side field with team trainers Thursday. If Toney and Robinson are sidelined again Sunday against the Bears, the Giants' receiving corps will be down to Richie James, David Sills, Kenny Golladay and Darius Slayton after Sterling Shepard (knee) tore his ACL in Week 3.

  • Giants' Wan'Dale Robinson: Still not practicing

Robinson (knee) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Robinson hasn't practiced since injuring his right knee in the season opener, but he was seen running sprints on a side field with team trainers Thursday. Kadarius Toney (hamstring) also didn't mix into drills, so with Sterling Shepard (knee) now on injured reserve due to a torn ACL, the Giants current healthy options at wide receiver are Richie James, David Sills, Kenny Golladay and Darius Slayton.

  • Giants' Sterling Shepard: Moved to IR

Shepard (knee) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Shepard made a full recovery from the Achilles tear he suffered last December and was the most reliable target for quarterback Daniel Jones early this season, but the veteran suffered an ACL tear late in the Giants' Week 3 loss to Dallas. He'll now spend the rest of the season and perhaps a small portion of next season recovery from knee surgery. Shepard is set to turn 30 years old in February and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent during the offseason.

  • Giants' Fabian Moreau: Signed off practice squad

The Giants signed Moreau to the active roster from their practice squad Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Moreau was elevated to the active roster for Monday night's loss to the Cowboys and played 61 percent of the team's defensive snaps, second most among the Giants' defensive backs. New York currently has a plethora of cornerbacks dealing with injuries, so Moreau figures to continue garnering a sizable role until the Giants are able to return to full strength.

  • Giants' Jihad Ward: Doesn't practice Wednesday

Ward (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Ward played a season-low 66 percent of the team's defensive snaps during Monday's loss to the Cowboys and presumably tweaked his ankle as well. The severity of the issue remains unclear, but he'll have two more opportunities to practice before the team has to make a decision on his status for Week 4.

  • Giants' Leonard Williams: Doesn't practice Wednesday

Williams (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Williams suffered an MCL sprain during the team's Week 2 win over the Panthers and was ultimately sidelined for Week 3 after missing three straight practices. Until he gets back on the practice field, the defensive end's availability for Week 4 will remain up in the air.

  • Giants' Aaron Robinson: Limited Wednesday

Robinson (appendix) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Robinson underwent an appendectomy before Week 2 and has missed back-to-back games. His return to practice is certainly encouraging, but he likely still has quite a few hurdles to clear before he's ready for game action. Robinson's practice statues for Thursday and Friday should provide further clarity on his availability for Week 4.

  • Giants' Wan'Dale Robinson: Not practicing

Robinson (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Head coach Brian Daboll wasn't optimistic Tuesday when discussing Robinson and Kadarius Toney (hamstring), who also missed Wednesday's practice. The Giants likely will start Richie James and David Sills this Sunday against the Bears, with Kenny Golladay and Darius Slayton the other healthy options after Sterling Shepard (knee) suffered an ACL tear this past Monday.

  • Giants' Kadarius Toney: No practice to start week

Toney (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Wan'Dale Robinson (knee) also sat out practice, while Sterling Shepard (knee) is out for the season with a torn ACL. The Giants may be left with Richie James as their No. 1 receiver, and that could be the case even if Toney shows enough improvement to gain clearance for Sunday's game against the Bears.

  • Giants' Xavier McKinney: Consistent production to start year

McKinney recorded six tackles (five solo) and one pass defense during Monday's 23-16 loss to the Cowboys.

McKinney has recorded at least five tackles in each of the first three games this season, giving him 16 total. Last year, the 2020 second-round pick broke out with 93 tackles and five interceptions, including one pick-six. He's yet to replicate that type of playmaking in 2022, but his consistent production to start the year has given him a solid fantasy floor moving forward.
