  • Eagles' Trey Sermon: Expected to make team debut Sunday

With Boston Scott (ribs) unlikely to play, Sermon is expected to make his Eagles debut Sunday against the Jaguars, Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com reports.

Sermon joined the Eagles following the initial 53-man roster deadline, but the second-year running back has been a healthy scratch for each of the first three games with his new squad. As a rookie with San Francisco last year, the 2021 third-round pick rushed 41 times for 167 yards and one score across nine appearances. It's unclear what his role with be during his debut, but Sermon will have a tough time garnering many touches behind Miles Sanders and Kenneth Gainwell.

  • Eagles' Boston Scott: Unlikely to play Sunday

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said Friday that Scott (ribs) isn't expected to play Sunday against the Jaguars, Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com reports.

Scott didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday due to a rib issue that he presumably picked up in the team's Week 3 win over Washington and probably won't be available for Week 4. In his likely absence, Trey Sermon is expected to make his Eagles debut as the third-string RB behind Miles Sanders and Kenneth Gainwell.

  • Eagles' Darius Slay: Logs full session Thursday

Slay (back) was a full participant during Thursday's practice.

Slay failed to practice Wednesday due to an apparent back issue, but his ability to partake as a full participant during Thursday's session indicates he'll be ready to go Sunday against Jacksonville. Through the team's first three games, the veteran cornerback has recorded eight tackles, two interceptions and five passes defensed.

  • Eagles' Boston Scott: Another DNP on Thursday

Scott (rib) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice.

Scott is a distant third in terms of offensive snaps (36) behind Miles Sanders (112) and Kenneth Gainwell (60) through three games. While Scott has nearly matched Gainwell in touches, 11-13, the former now is in danger of sitting out Week 4 entirely. Scott at least has Friday's practice to make his presence felt, but if he's inactive Sunday against the Jaguars, Trey Sermon likely will be available as the Eagles' third running back.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Full practice Thursday

Smith (back) practiced in full Thursday.

After a limited session Wednesday due to a back issue, Smith handled every practice rep one day later, setting him up to serve as one of the Eagles' starting wide receivers alongside A.J. Brown on Sunday versus the Jaguars. While Smith was blanked on four targets in the season opener, he's since gathered in 15 of 19 targets for 249 yards and one touchdown over the last two games.

  • Eagles' Miles Sanders: Gets back to full participation

    Sanders (hip) practiced fully Thursday.

One day removed from being a limited practice participant due to a hip issue, Sanders logged every rep Thursday, implying Wednesday's cap on his reps was for maintenance-related reasons. He's thus clear to lead the Eagles backfield Sunday against the Jaguars, which so far has equated to 51 touches for 235 yards from scrimmage and one rushing TD in three games this season.

  • Eagles' Darius Slay: Dealing with back issue

    Slay (back) didn't practice Wednesday.

Slay was limited to just 80 percent of the team's defensive snaps for a second straight game in Week 3, but it's unclear if his reduced playing time was due to his current back issue. The severity of the injury remains unclear, but he'll have two more opportunities to practice before the team has to make a decision on his status for Week 4.

  • Eagles' Boston Scott: No practice Wednesday

    Scott (ribs) didn't practice Wednesday.

Scott played a season-low seven snaps during the team's Week 3 win over Washington, and he presumably picked up a rib injury as well. The extent of the issue remains unclear, but his potential absence wouldn't make too much of an impact, as Kenneth Gainwell has solidified himself as the top backup behind Miles Sanders.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Dealing with back issue

Smith was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice due to a back injury.

Smith may just be enduring some bumps and bruises from his breakout 8-169-1 receiving performance on 12 targets during the Eagles' Week 3 win at Washington. Still, his status should be watched as the week continues to learn whether or not his availability is in question for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.

  • Eagles' Miles Sanders: Logs limited practice Wednesday

Sanders was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice due to a hip injury.

Sanders has tended to various injuries in three-plus seasons in the NFL, but a hip issue hasn't been one of them. Still, he managed some reps to begin prep for a Week 4 matchup with the Jaguars, and he'll have two more opportunities to get back to full activity before the Eagles potentially hand him a designation for that contest. On the season, Sanders has easily paced the Eagles backfield, earning 51 touches to Kenneth Gainwell's 13 and Boston Scott's (rib) 11 through three games.
