Commanders' Kamren Curl: Good to go
Curl (illness) will be available for Sunday's game against the Bills.
Curl originally drew a questionable designation due to an illness, but he has seemingly put that behind him. Barring any setbacks, he is in line to take on his usual role at safety alongside Darrick Forrest. Curl, a 2020 seventh-round pick, has yet to miss a defensive snap through two games.

Commanders' Curtis Samuel: Good to go for Sunday
Samuel (illness) was removed from the injury report Saturday and will play Sunday against the Bills.
Samuel didn't practice Friday due to an illness, but the 27-year-old appears to be fine entering Sunday's contest against the Bills. The veteran didn't get as much work in the Week 2 win over the Broncos (three catches, 19 yards), but he's been a reliable option for quarterback Sam Howell and does pose a speed threat that the Commanders sorely need. Expect Samuel to play around his customary 40-45 snaps in what could be a high-scoring affair.

Commanders' Jartavius Martin: Looks ready for Sunday
Martin (concussion) was a full participant at practice Friday and does not carry an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game versus Buffalo.
As appeared to be the case after he practiced in full Thursday, Martin should be good to go for Week 3. He'll continue to play mostly on special teams, barring injuries.

Commanders' Daron Payne: Ready to go vs. Buffalo
Payne (ankle) was a full participant at practice Friday and does not carry an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game versus the Bills.
Payne progressed from not practicing Wednesday to logging a limited practice Thursday, then took the next step Friday to be able to play in Week 3. He'll resume a starting role on the interior of the defensive line next to Jonathan Allen.

Commanders' Kamren Curl: Questionable for Week 3
Curl (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's Week 3 game against the Bills, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
Coach Ron Rivera suggested Curl will play, saying he's more probable than questionable. The 2020 seventh-round pick has played all 128 defensive snaps through two games, registering 19 tackles and one pass breakup.

Commanders' Curtis Samuel: Dealing with illness at end of week
Samuel missed Friday's practice because of an illness and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Buffalo, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
The same goes for safety Kam Curl, who is arguably more important to Washington's defense than Samuel is to the offense. His role as the No. 3 receiver and occasional ballcarrier does have value, of course, though perhaps more so for real life than fantasy. Samuel has eight targets, two carries and 92 total yards through two weeks, playing 63 percent of snaps in Washington offense that has nine players with at least three targets and none with more than 12. An absence this Sunday for Samuel likely would mean more snaps for No. 4 receiver Dyami Brown, especially with TE Logan Thomas (concussion) already ruled out. It might also free up more slot work for Jahan Dotson and Terry McLaurin, a duo that's surprisingly accounted for only 35 percent of the team target total so far.

Commanders' Logan Thomas: Won't play this week
Thomas (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Buffalo, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
Thomas didn't practice this week after an early exit from last Sunday's 35-33 win over Denver. He's seen 11 targets in six quarters of action this season, but there's no guarantee of similar involvement for the backup tight ends with both John Bates and Cole Turner likely to play a lot.

Commanders' Jartavius Martin: Logs full practice Thursday
Martin (concussion) was a full participant at practice Thursday.
It's still not clear whether Martin has passed through all five phases of the concussion protocol, but he appears to be headed in the right direction for Week 3. He still has two full days to clear protocol before Sunday's game versus Buffalo if he hasn't already.

Commanders' Daron Payne: Back practicing in limited capacity
Payne (ankle) was a limited participant at practice Thursday.
It's a step in the right direction towards being available to play in Week 3 after Payne sustained a minor ankle injury during Sunday's 35-33 win at Denver. He'll still probably need to log a full practice Friday in order to avoid carrying an injury designation into the weekend.

Commanders' Logan Thomas: Officially DNP on Thursday
Thomas (concussion) officially didn't practice Thursday.
This comes as no surprise after Thomas wasn't seen during the media-access portion of the session. He'll thus have just one more chance to show that he's progressing through the concussion protocol, which he's currently in due to a helmet-to-helmet hit that he took from Broncos safety Kareem Jackson this past Sunday. If Thomas is unable to suit up Week 3 against the Bills, John Bates and Cole Turner will be the Commanders' primary tight ends this Sunday.

Commanders' Logan Thomas: Not seen at practice Thursday
Thomas (concussion) wasn't spotted during the open part of Thursday's practice, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Assuming he goes down as a non-participant for a second consecutive session, Thomas seemingly doesn't have enough time to make his way through the concussion protocol and be able to suit up Sunday against the Bills. If that comes to pass, the Commanders will turn to John Bates and Cole Turner at tight end for as long as Thomas is sidelined.
