  • Commanders' Logan Thomas: Cleared to play

Thomas (concussion) will be available to play Sunday against the Eagles, Matthew Paras of The Washington Times reports.

After missing a week of practice and one game, Thomas returned to limited practice participation Wednesday before upgrading to full activity Thursday. He now heads into Sunday without an injury designation, pushing fellow Washington tight ends Cole Turner and John Bates back to complementary roles. Thomas surprisingly had a team-high 11 targets through his six quarters of play this season before exiting early with the concussion Week 2, though in the long run, he probably won't get as many looks as wideouts Terry McLaurin or Jahan Dotson. Challenging slot man Curtis Samuel to be third on the team in targets is a more reasonable goal for the 32-year-old tight end.

  • Commanders' Chris Rodriguez: Ruled out for Week 4

Rodriguez (illness) has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 4 game against the Eagles, Matthew Paras of The Washington Times reports.

Rodriguez was downgraded to DNP Thursday after being limited Wednesday. With Rodriguez on the shelf, Derrick Gore looks like a prime candidate to be promoted from the practice squad to fill RB3 duties behind Brian Robinson and Antonio Gibson.

  • Commanders' Chris Rodriguez: Takes step backward

Rodriguez (illness) did not practice Thursday.

Rodriguez logged a limited practice Wednesday while dealing with an illness but suffered a downturn Thursday. This seems to be a move in the wrong direction for the Kentucky product ahead of the team's Week 4 game against the Eagles. However, the 23-year-old still has a couple more days to recover and is still considered questionable for the divisional matchup.

  • Commanders' Logan Thomas: Gets back to full participation

    Thomas (concussion) practiced fully Thursday.

It's unclear if Thomas has made his way through the five phases of the concussion protocol, but he told Sam Fortier of The Washington Post after Wednesday's limited session that he expects to return to action Sunday at Philadelphia. The Commanders may clear up Thomas' status for Week 4 upon the release of Friday's injury report, but he appears on pace to make his first appearance since Week 2 this weekend.

  • Commanders' Chris Rodriguez: Limited by illness Wednesday

Rodriguez (illness) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Selected 193rd overall in this year's NFL Draft, Rodriguez has played six offensive snaps through his first three games, seeing another 54 snaps on special teams. He's rushed three times for seven scoreless yards. Derrick Gore is on the Commanders' practice squad should Rodriguez not be able to play in Week 4.

  • Commanders' Logan Thomas: Expects to play this week

Thomas (concussion) was a limited practice participant Wednesday and said afterward that he expects to play in Sunday's game against Philadelphia, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports.

Thomas missed last Sunday's 37-3 loss to Buffalo, leaving Cole Turner and John Bates in a timeshare at tight end. Bates should still have a role as a blocker if Thomas is back for Week 4, while Turner's usefulness would be minimized with the return of a more experienced receiving-minded tight end. Thomas drew 11 targets through the first six quarters of play this season before suffering a concussion Week 2.
