  • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Unavailable for season finale

Tarasov (upper body) won't be in the lineup Tuesday against the Hurricanes, per Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site.

Tarasov will miss his sixth straight contest. He will finish the 2023-24 season with a record of 8-11-3, a 3.18 GAA and a .908 save percentage over 24 appearances. Jet Greaves will be backed up by Elvis Merzlikins (lower body) in Tuesday's home game against Carolina.

  • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Still being evaluated

Per Dave Maetzold of Bally Sports Columbus, Tarasov (upper body) is still undergoing testing Saturday, according to coach Pascal Vincent.

Tarasov was shaken up Thursday versus the Islanders and was forced to leave the game in the second period after absorbing a hit to his head. His status is unknown at this time, but the Blue Jackets recalled Malcolm Subban from the minors on Friday. Look for Jet Greaves and Subban to split the starts on Saturday and Sunday if Tarasov is unable to play.

  • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Suffers upper-body injury

Tarasov exited Thursday's tilt against the Islanders after sustaining an upper-body injury. He won't return to the contest.

Tarasov stopped 13 of 15 shots in 17:53 of ice time before departing the game. Jet Greaves took over between the pipes for Columbus. The Blue Jackets were already missing goaltender Elvis Merzlikins due to a lower-body injury. If Merzlikins and Tarasov are forced to miss additional time, then the Blue Jackets will likely lean on Greaves.

  • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Gets starting nod

Tarasov will patrol the home crease versus the Islanders on Thursday, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.

Tarasov was fantastic in his last start Monday against the Avalanche, stopping 45 of 46 shots en route to an impressive 4-1 victory. He'll try to secure his ninth win of the season in a home matchup with an Isles squad that's 16-17-5 on the road this year.

  • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Shines in victory

Tarasov stopped 45 of 46 shots in Monday's 4-1 home win over the Avalanche.

What a game for Tarasov. The 25-year-old netminder frustrated Colorado all game, kicking aside the first 34 shots sent his way until finally being beat for the only Avalanche goal partway through the third frame. Tarasov may not be producing many wins -- he had only three in the month of March -- but he has only had a save percentage under .900 once over eight games that same span. The Blue Jackets host the Islanders on Thursday.

  • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Facing Avalanche

Tarasov will guard the home goal versus Colorado on Monday, NHL.com's Jeff Svoboda reports.

Tarasov has played pretty well over his last two starts, posting a combined .916 save percentage versus the Golden Knights and the Penguins, but he went 0-2-0 over that stretch due to insufficient goal support from his teammates. He'll try to get back in the win column in a rough home matchup with a red-hot Avalanche team that's gone 8-1-1 over its last 10 games.

  • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Strong play not enough

Tarasov made 33 saves in a 3-2 loss to the Penguins on Thursday.

The Jackets netminder of the future played a strong game, but he was up against slim odds to win. The Blue Jackets are 0-10-5 in Pittsburgh since a 2-1 win Nov. 13, 2015. Yes, you read that right. Tarasov will be in the record books as the goalie who was in net when Evgeni Malkin hit the 20-goal mark for the 15th time in the NHL, and for being the twinetender in the game when Sidney Crosby reached 1,580 points which moved him into 11th in scoring in NHL history.

  • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: In blue paint Thursday

Tarasov will guard the cage for Thursday's road clash with Pittsburgh, Wes Crosby of NHL.com reports.

Tarasov has started three of the Jackets' last seven outings -- the team has decided to split the workload between the 25-year-old and Elvis Merzlikins. Looking ahead to next season, Tarasov could be in the mix for the No. 1 job, especially if the team honors Merzlikins' prior trade request. For now, Tarasov will likely get the nod in every other game down the stretch.

  • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Kept busy in loss

Tarasov stopped 43 of 47 shots in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Golden Knights.

The only reason Tarasov didn't face over 50 shots was that the Golden Knights started slow. They made up for it over the final 40 minutes, giving the Blue Jackets little room to work with. Tarasov has allowed 14 goals over his last six appearances, going 2-2-1 in that span. For the season, the 24-year-old is at 7-10-3 with a 3.24 GAA and a .904 save percentage through 21 appearances. The Blue Jackets' road trip continues Tuesday in Arizona.

Tarasov is 7-9-3 with a 3.20 GAA and a .903 save percentage, as he has taken over the reins as the No. 1 netminder in Columbus. The Golden Knights are averaging 3.16 goals, 14th in the NHL.

  • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Tough OT loss in Detroit

Tarasov turned aside 23 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Red Wings.

Columbus jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and were still leading 3-2 late in the third, but Lucas Raymond banged home a rebound with 13 seconds left in regulation to tie things up. Patrick Kane then snuck one short side on Tarasov early in OT. The 24-year-old Tarasov is still enjoying a strong start to March, going 3-1-1 in six outings with a 2.21 GAA and .937 save percentage -- a sharp contrast to Elvis Merzlikins' 4.10 GAA and .865 save percentage in four March appearances.

The 24-year-old netminder has earned the starting job over Elvis Merzlikins in Columbus, as he's appeared in four of the Jackets' last five games. Overall, Tarasov improves to 7-9-2 with a .906 save percentage and a 3.16 GAA this season. Merzlikins should get the start Sunday in the second leg of a back-to-back, lining up Tarasov for a road matchup with the Red Wings on Tuesday.

Overall, the 24-year-old netminder is 6-9-2 with a 3.23 GAA and a .903 save percentage in 18 appearances this season. • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Perfect in relief Tuesday

Tarasov stopped all 19 shots he faced after replacing Elvis Merzlikins early in the first period of Tuesday's 3-0 loss to the Canadiens. Merzlikins was credited with the defeat.

Columbus looked like they'd stayed on the plane, coming out completely flat and hanging Merzlikins out to dry to begin the game. The Jackets' defensive effort picked up after Tarasov took over, but their offense never solved Cayden Primeau. The 24-year-old Tarasov appears to have taken a firm hold of the top job for the Blue Jackets, allowing three goals or less in seven straight outings while posting a 2.09 GAA and .941 save percentage.

  • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Tough loss Saturday

Tarasov stopped 47 shots in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Predators.

The 47 saves tied Tarasov's career high, but they weren't enough to get the Blue Jackets a win as Kevin Lankinen was also playing lights out in the other crease. The Columbus goaltender has given up three goals or less in six straight starts, going 3-3-0 over that stretch with a .935 save percentage. With nothing to play for but lottery positioning, the Blue Jackets may elect to see if the 24-year-old can handle the rigors of a starting workload down the stretch.

  • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Starting Saturday

Tarasov will defend the home crease versus Nashville on Saturday, according to Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers.

Tarasov will make his second straight start following a 29-save performance in Thursday's 4-2 win over Edmonton. The red-hot Predators have gone 9-0-1 in 10 games going into Saturday's matchup, so Tarasov has another challenging opponent to face. He has a 6-8-2 record with a 3.48 GAA and an .894 save percentage this season.

  • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Earns big win over Oilers

Tarasov set aside 29 of 31 shots on the way to a 4-2 win over the Oilers on Thursday.

Tarasov was sharp after getting staked to an early 3-0 lead. The 24-year-old backstop certainly can be forgiven for permitting a high-slot one-timer to Zach Hyman in the second period and a power-play tally by veteran Corey Perry in the third. Tarasov has a pedestrian 6-8-2 record, 3.48 GAA and .894 save percentage through 16 games on the season, but he may be turning things around -- over his last five starts, he's posted a 2.49 GAA and a .929 save percentage during a stretch that's seen him face the Oilers, Golden Knights and Hurricanes.

Tarasov has been sharing the net with Elvis Merzlikins of late. Tarasov is 5-8-2 with a 3.58 GAA and an .891 save percentage in 15 appearances this season. He has a tough matchup against Connor McDavid and the Oilers, who have scored 214 goals in 60 games, sixth in the NHL.

  • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Bounces back against Golden Knights

Tarasov allowed three goals on 40 shots in Monday's 6-3 win against Vegas.

Tarasov allowed a two-goal lead to dwindle away late in the first period, but he ultimately outplayed Adin Hill for the remainder of the game. Vegas fired a barrage of shots at him, including 16 in the third period alone, but Tarasov stood his ground for the win. This is only his fourth win in 11 outings since the start of January. Unless he demonstrates sustained improvement and the Blue Jackets find their defensive footing, he remains a risky option for most fantasy managers.
