Pesce has managed between 25 and 29 points in three of the past four seasons, but he has only four points through 21 games and will need a hot streak to have any chance of posting similar numbers this year. He's still seeing significant minutes with an average TOI of 22:23, including 1:43 on the second power-play unit, so don't count him out just yet.

Pesce was held off the scoresheet for the seventh consecutive game in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Avalanche, giving him just three points in 15 games to start the season.
Despite averaging 22:10 of ice time (including 1:41 on the power play), Pesce has not been an offensive contributor for the Canes this season. Fantasy managers can usually count on the 27-year-old rearguard for 20-25 points in an average season, but it will take a major course correction at this point to get him trending back to those levels. Keep Pesce out of your fantasy lineups until he starts to show signs of life.

Pesce has yet to score a goal this season, but it isn't due to a lack of effort. For example, in Friday's contest, he tied allied defenseman Brent Burns with a game-high five shots. With a bit more puck luck and perseverance, Pesce's offensive numbers should start to level toward the mean; he entered the 2022-23 campaign having posted 21 assists in each of the prior two seasons, and last year he tied a career high with seven goals.
