Red Wings' Alex Lyon: Signs two-year deal with Detroit
Lyon signed a two-year, $1.8 million contract with the Red Wings on Saturday, per PuckPedia
Lyon posted a 9-4-2 record with a 2.89 GAA and a .912 save percentage in 15 appearances with Florida last season. Detroit also signed netminder James Reimer on Saturday, so Lyon will have some competition for the backup role behind Ville Husso going into the 2023-24 campaign.

Panthers' Alex Lyon: Allows three goals in relief
Lyon turned aside 12 of 15 shots in relief in a 7-2 loss to Vegas in Game 2 on Monday.
Lyon entered the contest at 7:10 of the second period after Sergei Bobrovsky surrendered four goals on 13 shots. Lyon held the fort for the remainder of the frame, but then was beaten three times on 10 shots in the third period, stifling any hope of a comeback. Still, the 30-year-old wasn't charged with the loss, so his playoff record remains at 1-2 this year. He also has a 3.63 GAA and an .888 save percentage in four postseason outings.

Panthers' Alex Lyon: First off Tuesday
Lyon was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate ahead of Tuesday night's Game 1 versus Toronto, TSN's Chris Johnston reports.
The fact that Lyon was the first goalie off the ice at morning practice would generally suggest he's on track to start between the pipes Tuesday, but that'd be a bit of a surprising move for coach Paul Maurice after Sergei Bobrovsky secured three straight wins to close out the first round against the Bruins, helping propel the Panthers to the second round. Which netminder will ultimately get the nod for Game 1 against the Maple Leafs likely won't be confirmed until Florida takes the ice for pregame warmups.

Panthers' Alex Lyon: Gets hook in Friday's loss
Lyon stopped 23 of 26 shots before being replaced by Sergei Bobrovsky midway through the third period Friday in a 4-2 loss to the Bruins during Game 3 of the Panthers' first-round series.
Florida likely wouldn't even be in the playoffs were it not for Lyon's somewhat miraculous late-season run, but the magic could be wearing off for the 30-year-old netminder. Lyon allowed a power-play goal to David Pastrnak in the first period and two more tallies in the second as the Panthers dropped the series opener 3-1. Lyon surprisingly took over the starting job from Sergei Bobrovsky late in the season, going 6-1-1 with a .943 save percentage over his final eight starts. The 30-year-old Lyon will likely get the start again Wednesday in Game 2 as the Panthers look to even the series, though it may not take long for head coach Paul Maurice to give Bobrovsky a chance to reclaim the crease.

The game had a wild finish -- with Lyon pulled for an extra attacker with over three minutes left in the third period, Carolina scored one empty-net goal only for Florida to answer back with two tallies of their own, before Sebastian Aho put the contest out of reach with a second empty-netter. The loss left the Panthers with the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference, and a first-round matchup with the juggernaut Bruins. Lyon still performed admirably in place of Sergei Bobrovsky while making eight straight starts to close out the schedule, going 6-1-1 with a 1.87 GAA and .943 save percentage. Look for Bobrovsky to be between the pipes when the playoffs begin, however.
