Senators' Shane Pinto: Pots 13th goal
Pinto scored a goal in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to Chicago.
The 22-year-old opened the scoring for Ottawa midway through the second period by tipping home a Derick Brassard shot from the blue line. Pinto is still getting his feet wet in the NHL, but he's put together a respectable 13 goals and 23 points through 54 games. The 2019 second-round pick has talent, and with Josh Norris (shoulder) out for the rest of the season, Pinto could potentially work his way into the No. 2 center role behind Tim Stutzle down the stretch.

Pinto's future looks bright, as the rookie's shown well offensively -- he's banked 12 goals and eight assists over 48 games -- and the 22-year-old pivot is trusted on the No. 2 power-play unit. The Senators boast a 26.2 power-play percentage, which is fourth best in the league, so fantasy managers should take that into account if Pinto is ever needed as a stop-gap option off the waiver wire.

Pinto finally put an end to his 15-game goal drought that also coincided with an eight-game pointless streak. After a blazing start to the year in which he scored six times in the opening eight contests, the young center has managed just five goals in his last 36 outings. At this point, Pinto may be hard-pressed to reach the 20-goal threshold despite already having 11 tallies in his account.

Consider charting Pinto's development closely, as he's starting to settle into a top-six role.

Pinto snapped his four-game point drought, bringing him up to 10 goals and 13 points in 27 contests this season. The 22-year-old had a strong run at the beginning of the season with six goals and seven points in eight contests, but Pinto hasn't been able to even get on the scoresheet in back-to-back games since then. He'll have an opportunity to change that Monday versus Anaheim.

Pinto scored a goal in Ottawa's 3-1 loss to the Rangers on Wednesday.
Pinto has nine goals and 11 points in 22 games this season. He started the campaign with an incredible run of six goals in eight contests, but Pinto has gone cold since then and entered Wednesday's contest on an eight-game goal scoring drought. He did log 18:12 of ice time versus the Rangers though, which is up from his season average of 14:57 going into Wednesday's contest. If Ottawa decides to keep using him like that, then the 22-year-old forward will be worth keeping an eye on.

Pinto was considered a game-time decision but it doesn't appear he'll miss any game action after picking up a minor injury. The rookie forward has eight goals through 17 games this season but just two of those have come during his last nine appearances.

They were his first goals in five games. The first goal came in the opening frame when Pinto tipped a Claude Giroux left point shot at 12:15. His second was a sharp wrister from the high slot that knotted the game 3-3 in the third period. Pinto is tied with Matty Beniers and Matias Maccelli for the NHL rookie scoring lead with nine points (eight goals, one assist). His eight goals lead all rookies.

He took a centering pass from Tyler Motte in the slot and wired a wrister under Darcy Kuemper's right arm. Pinto's shot is lightning fast and the puck was off his stick so fast it impressed even his teammates. "It's unreal," Drake Batherson said of Pinto's release.
