Sharks' William Eklund: Should be good for camp
Eklund (shoulder) participated in captain's skate activities Wednesday and should be ready for training camp when it opens Sept. 21, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Eklund underwent shoulder surgery in March, and the expectation was always that he'd be good to go for camp. The 20-year-old, selected seventh overall in 2021, had 41 points in 54 AHL games and three points over eight contests with the Sharks last season. Now two years separated from his draft year, Eklund should be ready to contend for at least a middle-six job with the Sharks, and he should also see some power-play time this year.

Sharks' William Eklund: Undergoes shoulder surgery
Eklund, who was playing for AHL San Jose, underwent shoulder surgery on Thursday.
Eklund is out for the remainder of the campaign, but he's expected to be ready for training camp. He'll finish with 17 goals and 41 points in 54 AHL contests with the Barracuda in 2022-23. Eklund also played in eight games with the Sharks this season during which he recorded two goals and three points.

Sharks' William Eklund: Heads to AHL
Eklund was assigned to AHL San Jose on Sunday.
The Sharks brought up forward Andrew Agozzino in a corresponding move. Eklund, who had been skating alongside Logan Couture, has supplied two goals, one assist, 18 shots on net, six blocks and seven hits in eight NHL outings this season.

Sharks' William Eklund: Scores on penalty shot
Eklund converted on a penalty shot, fired three shots on goal, blocked three shots, added two hits and logged two PIM in Thursday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Kraken.
Eklund has scored in each of his last two games. He drew the penalty shot Thursday early in the third period on a slash from Kraken forward Ryan Donato. Eklund has three points, a minus-5 rating, 14 shots on net, seven hits and six PIM through seven appearances at the NHL level this season.

Sharks' William Eklund: Nets first career goal
Eklund scored a goal on two shots and went minus-2 in Tuesday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets.
Eklund's second-period tally was the first of his career, coming in his 15th game. He's picked up two points, 11 shots on net, five hits and a minus-6 rating through six outings this season. While there's a bit of a learning curve for the 20-year-old, he should continue to get top-six minutes alongside Tomas Hertl. Eklund remains more attractive in dynasty formats.

Sharks' William Eklund: Back in bigs
Eklund was recalled from AHL San Jose on Friday.
Eklund is highly regarded, as he was drafted seventh overall in 2021. He played nine games last season as an 18-year-old with the Sharks, picking up four assists. The winger has 17 goals and 41 points in 52 AHL games with the Barracuda this season and is expected to make his season debut for the Sharks on Saturday at home versus the Capitals.

Sharks' William Eklund: Returned to AHL
Eklund was sent back to the AHL Friday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Eklund was recalled Thursday, but it was just a paper move for salary cap reasons, as he was returned to AHL San Jose on Friday. Eklund travelled with the Sharks to Europe at the start of the season but was a healthy scratch in both games against the Predators.

Sharks' William Eklund: Rises to NHL
Eklund was promoted from AHL San Jose on Thursday, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.
Eklund was sent down after the Sharks' two NHL Global Series games in Prague, but he'll rejoin the active roster less than a week later. The 20-year-old could be in line to immediately join the lineup if Alexander Barabanov (lower body) and Timo Meier (upper body) both remain out for Friday's game versus the Hurricanes and/or Saturday's game against the Blackhawks.

Sharks' William Eklund: Heading back to Sweden
Eklund will be reassigned to Djurgarden of the SHL, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.
Eklund played pretty well during his nine-game audition with the Sharks, picking up four helpers while averaging 14:20 of ice time per contest over that span, but San Jose has opted to sent the 19-year-old winger back to his native Sweden for the remainder of the season to avoid burning a year off his entry-level contract. Although Eklund's likely seen his last NHL action in 2021-22, he'll almost certainly be ready to take on a prominent full-time role with the Sharks next campaign.

Sharks' William Eklund: Sends assist Tuesday
Eklund notched an assist in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Sabres.
Eklund helped out on a Jonathan Dahlen goal in the first period -- that scoring play is likely a welcome sight for Sharks fans. Through eight contests, Eklund has racked up four assists, seven shots on net and a minus-2 rating. The 19-year-old isn't dominating, but he's shown he belongs at the NHL level in a middle-six role.

Eklund produced a power-play assist, two PIM and a minus-2 rating in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Jets.
Eklund helped out on Tomas Hertl's go-ahead goal in the third period. The 19-year-old Eklund didn't have to wait long for his first NHL point, although his debut didn't come without some bumps along the way. The uber-talented winger begins the year in a second-line role, and as long as he can be an effective playmaker, it seems unlikely he'll drop down the lineup often.
