Necas picked up a power-play assist, five shots on goal, three blocked shots and two PIM in Thursday's 3-2 quadruple-overtime loss to the Panthers in Game 1. Necas' helped out on Stefan Noesen's game-tying goal in the third period. This was Necas' first assist since Game 1 of the first round versus the Islanders. Necas scored both the tying and game-winning goals in Friday's 5-4 overtime victory over the Sharks. Carolina trailed 4-2 with less than two minutes left in the third period, but after Sebastian Aho gave the Hurricanes a glimmer of hope with 97 seconds remaining, Necas got to work. He pounced on a loose puck and roofed it over James Reimer with only 12 seconds on the clock to force OT, then finished a 2-on-1 with Andrei Svechnikov inside the first minute of the extra frame with a blistering shot that caromed into the net off Reimer's shoulder. Necas has potted overtime winners in back-to-back games and has four game-winning goals in 48 games this season, giving him 16 for his career as he adds to his clutch reputation. After going three games without getting onto the scoresheet, Necas roared back to life, It's the first time this season the 24-year-old has recorded multiple power-play points in the same game, and his 41 points through 45 games ties the career high he set in 2020-21, albeit in eight fewer contests.
