Norris (shoulder) is looking to start skating next month, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports. Norris was plagued by shoulder issues all season, and he finally decided on surgery in late January after playing only eight games. Norris said that his shoulder is feeling good. He managed only two goals and an assist in 2022-23, after scoring 35 times and adding 20 helpers in 66 games during the 2021-22 campaign.... See More ... See Less

Senators' Josh Norris: Successful surgery
Norris had successful surgery on his shoulder a few weeks ago and will be ready for the start of training camp, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports. Norris managed to play only eight games this season, opening the season with five games and then he tried to return in mid-January, where he played three more games before he was shut down for the season. Norris ended the season with two goals and an assist after an outstanding sophomore season in 2021-22, when he had 35 goals and 20 assists in 66 games. He is expected to be fully recovered by next season.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Josh Norris: Done for season
Norris will miss the rest of the 2022-23 season after undergoing shoulder surgery in the near future. He was placed on injured reserve Monday. Norris played in just three games after sitting out 38 contests due to a shoulder injury. His season will come to an end after re-injuring it. Norris was limited to only eight appearances this campaign. He posted two goals, one assist, 15 shots on goal, six blocks and seven hits. Shane Pinto should see an increased role for the remainder of the year. The Senators also brought up Ridly Greig from AHL Belleville on Monday.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Josh Norris: Taken off IR
Norris (shoulder) was removed from injured reserve Tuesday, per the NHL media site. Norris' activation, along with the team's decision to place Jake Lucchini on waivers, all point to the 23-year-old Norris making his return to the lineup against the Penguins on Wednesday. The 2017 first-round pick has been on the shelf for the last 38 contests due to his shoulder issue. Given his lengthy absence, Norris may be eased back into action but should be filling a first or second-line role before long.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Josh Norris: Getting very close
Coach D.J. Smith said Sunday that Norris (shoulder) is getting very close to being ready to return, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports. Norris, who has been out since Oct. 22, won't be available for Monday's contest against St. Louis. He has one goal, one assist, eight shots on net, three blocks and six hits in five appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Josh Norris: Participating in practice
Norris (shoulder) is fully involved in practices but is not yet ready to return, per TSN 1200 Ottawa. Norris has been out since Oct. 22, and it's possible he'll need a handful of practice sessions before he is cleared to return. When he gets back in the lineup, he should be expected to take a top-six role with a large share of power-play time.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Josh Norris: Return not imminent
Norris (shoulder) is not expected to return anytime soon, Claire Hanna of TSN reports. Norris visited with a shoulder specialist recently and isn't fully healed yet despite making progress. The Senators hoped that he could return at the end of January but coach D.J. Smith said Tuesday that the team is "not going to put him on a timeline." Norris, who hasn't played since Oct. 22, won't be rushed back into game action.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Josh Norris: On trip with team
Norris (shoulder) will travel with the Senators for the team's current two-game road trip, but he won't play in either contest, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports. Although Norris won't be available for either of Ottawa's next two games, this is still an encouraging development, as it suggests he's ramping up his activity with the team in preparation to return to action. Norris picked up two points through the first five games of the season before suffering his long-term shoulder injury.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Josh Norris: Practicing in regular jersey
Norris (shoulder) is practicing in a regular jersey Friday, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports. Norris started practice in a non-contact jersey but went to the bench and put on a regular jersey. He is practicing on the fifth line, so his return is not imminent, but it is a great sign for the Senators as Norris had 35 goals and 55 points in 66 games last season. He has not played since Oct. 22, but could return sooner than the original prognosis of January or later.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Josh Norris: Skating at practice Thursday
Norris (shoulder) was skating at practice Thursday, according to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun. Norris was not participating in any contact as he is rehabbing his shoulder. He has been out since Oct. 22 and will not require surgery, but will continue to strengthen his shoulder for another month before being re-evaluated. Norris has a goal and an assist in five games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Josh Norris: Won't require surgery
Norris (shoulder) won't require surgery after consulting with five doctors and two specialists, Claire Hanna of TSN reports. Norris, who has been sidelined since Oct. 22, will continue to rehab and strengthen his injured shoulder until January. The Senators will re-evaluate his timetable once the calendar flips to 2023. Norris started the season with one goal and one assist in five games.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Josh Norris: Facing long-term absence
Norris (shoulder) is expected to be shelved long term and could be in danger of missing the rest of the season, Ian Mendes of TSN 1200 Ottawa reports. The fact that surgery for Norris remains an option certainly doesn't bode well for the center. Coming off a 35-goal campaign last year, expectations were high for the Michigan native heading into the season. Without Norris in the lineup, Derick Brassard will get the first crack at a second-line role, though Shane Pinto could also push for more opportunities.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Josh Norris: Out for at least two weeks
Norris (shoulder) will be sidelined for at least two weeks, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports. Ottawa is still waiting on MRI results and could know more about Norris' timetable in the next couple of days. He has been moved to injured reserve, per the NHL media site. The 23-year-old center was injured this past Saturday in a game against Arizona. Norris has one goal and one assist in five appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Josh Norris: Waiting on MRI
Norris (undisclosed) will undergo an MRI to determine the extent of his injury, reports Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada. The injury appears to be to his wrist. Norris dropped to the ice after a draw during Saturday's game and immediately held his wrist. He left the ice frustrated and was seen pitching his stick down the tunnel as he went to the dressing room. There is already significant swelling, so Ottawa is waiting for that to go down before the MRI can be done.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Josh Norris: Leaves Saturday's contest
Head coach D.J. Smith had no update on Norris (undisclosed) after Saturday's win against Arizona, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports. Norris appeared to suffer an injury during the third period as he left the ice in frustration while favoring his left side. The 23-year-old forward scored a goal while logging 14:32 of ice time prior to leaving the game. Ottawa's next game is Monday against the Stars.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Josh Norris: At practice Saturday
Norris is practicing Saturday after getting five stitches on his mouth Friday, according to Dean Brown of the Senators Radio Network. Norris also chipped a tooth during a faceoff in a 6-3 loss to the Maple Leafs. The talented center had 35 goals and 55 points in 66 games last season, and with the Senators adding to their top-six forward group in the offseason, Norris could be even more productive in 2022-23.... Senators' Josh Norris: Commits to Ottawa
Norris signed an eight-year, $63.6 million contract with the Senators on Thursday. Norris will take a cap hit of $7.95 million to remain with the Senators for the remainder of the decade. The 23-year-old has already flashed top-line potential, posting 55 points in 66 contests last season, his second full NHL campaign. With the Senators transitioning from asset acquisition to competitiveness, Norris is set to be at the front of a forward group that also boasts Brady Tkachuk, Alex DeBrincat and Tim Stutzle. Norris should have strong mid-round appeal in fantasy drafts this fall.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Josh Norris: Garners assist as Sens prevail
Norris produced a secondary assist in Friday's 2-1 shootout win over the Blue Jackets. Norris is having a stellar month with seven goals and six assists through 12 games. The Senators are ranked seventh within the Atlantic Division, and that poor standing is probably taking some attention away from Norris in fantasy leagues, but he's generated a whopping 33 goals and 52 points in just his second season as a full-time NHLer.... Senators' Josh Norris: Stays hot with two points
Norris scored a goal on four shots and added a power-play assist in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Jets. Norris opened the scoring just 1:48 into the game, but the Senators couldn't maintain the lead. He also helped out on the latter of Brady Tkachuk's two goals in the third period. Norris has been rolling lately with 13 goals and eight assists in his last 17 outings. The center is up to 48 points (21 on the power play), 150 shots on net, 70 hits and a minus-8 rating in 56 appearances, a noticeable step up from the 35-point campaign he had in the same number of games last year.... Senators' Josh Norris: First career hat trick
Norris scored three goals in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Red Wings. It was the first career hat trick for the 22-year-old, who also reached 30 goals on the season with the performance. Norris has a five-game point streak going, but he's been dialed-in for longer than that, piling up 11 goals and 16 points over the last 13 games.... See More ... See Less
