Luukkonen made 39 saves in a 6-3 win over Philadelphia on Saturday. Lukkonen has won two consecutive games with seven goals allowed in that span. With the win, the Sabres remained four points behind the Panthers, who moved into the second wild-card spot after a win Saturday. UPL is likely to see a load of play over the next week, even with a three-headed goalie monster in the city of fires. Devon Levi could get another game and Craig Anderson might get one start to say goodbye. Or not, especially if the Sabres stay in postseason hunt.... See More ... See Less

Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Starting in Philadelphia
Luukkonen will guard the road net Saturday against Philadelphia, Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News reports. Luukkonen is coming off a 27-save performance in a 5-4 win over New Jersey on March 24. He has a 16-11-4 record this season with a 3.63 GAA and an .890 save percentage in 32 appearances. Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Back in win column
Luukkonen made 27 saves in Friday's 5-4 win over the Devils. The netminder picked up his 16th win of the season after going 0-3-2 over his last six appearances, but Luukkonen nearly let it slip through his fingers as he gave up two third-periods tallies to Jack Hughes to make things close. Luukkonen has a rough .869 save percentage since the All-Star break, but Buffalo doesn't seem to have any better options in net right now as they try to stay alive in the Eastern Conference playoff race.... Luukkonen will be between the home pipes versus New Jersey on Friday, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports. Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Makes six saves in relief
Luukkonen stopped the six shots he faced in relief in Tuesday's 7-3 loss to Nashville. Luukkonen entered the contest in the second period after Craig Anderson surrendered six goals on 20 shots. The Sabres were down 6-1 when Luukkonen entered the game, so he ultimately wasn't charged with the loss. Nashville's final goal was scored on an empty net. The 24-year-old has a 15-11-4 record, 3.59 GAA and .891 save percentage in 31 appearances this season. If nothing else, Tuesday's stint in net was a way for the goaltender to put some distance between him and his disastrous 7-0 loss to Boston on Sunday in which he made just 18 saves.... See More ... Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Can't hold lead late
Luukkonen made 35 saves on 39 shots in Wednesday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Capitals. Luukkonen couldn't quite hold on late in regulation, as Tom Wilson tied the game with 1:08 remaining in the third period. Both Capitals shooters scored in the shootout and neither of Buffalo's did, limiting the Sabres to a single point in the standings when a valuable second point was there for the taking. UPL's record moves to 15-10-4 overall, and Luukkonen remains winless in March (0-2-2).... See More ... See Less -

Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Tough loss to Blueshirts
Luukkonen stopped 24 shots in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Rangers. The 24-year-old netminder played well, but Patrick Kane got lucky and banked an attempted centering pass off Owen Power's skate into the back of the net in the second period, and when Luukkonen couldn't corral an Adam Fox point shot in OT and the puck bounced to Artemi Panarin, that was that. Luukkonen has only two wins since the beginning of February, going 2-5-1 with a 4.34 GAA and .877 save percentage, but with Eric Comrie (lower body) now sidelined, he will split the workload in net with 41-year-old Craig Anderson down the stretch.... Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Buried by Bruins
Luukkonen stopped 35 of 40 shots in Thursday's 7-1 loss to the Bruins. Boston scored twice into an empty net to round out the rout. Luukkonen has given up at least four goals in three straight starts and five of six since the beginning of February, going 2-4-0 over that stretch with a brutal 5.04 GAA and .862 save percentage. The 23-year-old had some surprising value earlier in the season, but his current form makes him fantasy poison in many formats.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Starting in Boston
Luukkonen will defend the visiting crease in Boston on Thursday, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports. Luukkonen stopped 26 shots in his last start, a 7-4 victory over Washington on Sunday. He is 15-8-2 with a 3.57 GAA and .892 save percentage. He has benefitted from the Sabres' offensive prowess, as they are second in NHL scoring, averaging 3.76 goals per game. Unfortunately for Luukkonen, the Sabres host the league-leading Bruins, who are third in NHL scoring, averaging 3.73 goals per game. The Bruins are also No. 1 in defending, allowing a microscopic 2.10 goals against per contest.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Picks up 15th win
Luukkonen made 26 saves in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Capitals. He gave up two goals in the first and second periods, but the Sabres gave Luukkonen more than enough offensive support. The 23-year-old improved his record to 15-8-2, but he owes most of that success to Buffalo's snipers, as his 3.53 GAA and .893 save percentage are pretty poor. UPL hasn't allowed less than two goals in any appearance this season.... See More ... See Less -
