Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Not with team in Washington
Aho (upper body) didn't make the trip to Washington for Wednesday's matchup, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Aho will be unavailable for his fifth consecutive contest due to his lingering upper-body injury. Prior to getting hurt, the defenseman had registered points in four of his last seven contests, though he was stuck in a 10-game goal drought. Until Aho is cleared to play, Samuel Bolduc will continue to deputize in his stead on the blue line.

Islanders' Sebastian Aho: One goal in last 18 games
Aho has only lit the lamp once in his last 18 games.
On the season, Aho does have five goals, 17 points, and a rating of plus-6 in 59 games. Aho wasn't expected to play this many games this season, not without an injury. Still, when given the opportunity to get in the lineup early on this season, he proved to new head coach Lane Lambert that he could be more reliable in his own end than Robin Salo. Aho will next be looking to help the Islanders reach the players on Saturday when they play the Red Wings.

Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Third straight game with apple
Aho recorded an assist in Friday's 5-4 win over the Penguins.
Aho was the odd man out in a Feb. 9 contest against the Canucks, but he's responded appropriately by racking up an assist in three straight games since returning. The third-pairing blueliner continues to play a simple game and has four goals, 12 assists and a plus-6 rating on the season ledger.

Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Healthy scratch Thursday
Aho will be in the press box Thursday night versus the Canucks, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Aho has been a solid defender for the team this season, but someone had to sit with the return of Alexander Romanov. Some might argue that it's Romanov who should be the healthy scratch, but the Islanders spent a first-round pick to acquire him from the Montreal Canadiens on draft night, and he's going to get every chance to prove that he was worth that price. Aho will next get a chance to play Saturday in Montreal versus those same Canadiens.

Islanders' Sebastian Aho: One goal in last 21 games
Aho has gone seven games without a goal and has only one assist in his last 21 contests.
On the season, Aho has four goals, eight assists and a plus-one rating in 48 games. He's currently serving as the Islanders' sixth defenseman, but if the team adds a blueliner prior to the trade deadline, Aho could be in danger of losing playing time.

Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Could see time on the power play
Aho was working on the second power-play unit during practice Monday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Coach Lane Lambert has scrambled his power-play lines, as the team is a woeful 1-for-30 over the last 10 games on the power play. His options are limited somewhat with forwards Kyle Palmieri (upper body) and Oliver Wahlstrom (lower body), both of whom play on the power play, on injured reserve. Aho has worked with Pulock on the left side of the second power-play unit, but it's unknown which would play or if Lambert will continue to make changes in-game should the power-play continue to struggle.

Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Breaks scoreless streak
Aho registered an assist, his first point in nine games, in Tuesday's loss to the Bruins.
Aho has been a mainstay in the lineup for the majority of the season, and that won't change anytime soon due to the injury to Adam Pelech (head). When Pelech is ready to return, assuming there are no other injuries to the defensive corps, it's either Robin Salo or Aho who will likely head to the bench.

Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Scores in Friday's loss
Aho scored a goal on four shots and went plus-2 in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Coyotes.
The third pairing of Aho and Noah Dobson combined for two of the Islanders' four tallies in the contest. The goal was Aho's third of the season, and he's picked up points in each of the last two games after going nine straight outings without a point. The 26-year-old Swede has seven points, 36 shots on net, a plus-4 rating, 16 blocked shots and 12 hits through 27 games this season. While he's been a consistent presence in the Islanders' lineup, fantasy managers can likely find more production on the waiver wire.

Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Scoreless in four straight
Aho hasn't registered a point and has posted minus-2 rating over his last four games.
Aho has been a solid contributor for the Islanders this season. He has two goals, three assists, and a minus-1 rating in 21 games. It's fair to wonder, however, if the team will eventually want to play Robin Salo in Aho's spot. Salo only lost the job because he had options left and could be sent down. Salo has been a healthy scratch since being recalled, but it may only be a matter of time until Salo gets to play again, especially with the Isles struggling to score goals at the moment.

Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Scores goal
Aho notched his second goal of the season as the Islanders shut out the Oilers 3-0 on Wednesday.
Aho was supposed to be the extra defender for the Islanders this season, but a roster crunch that forced the team to send Robin Salo to the AHL gave Aho a chance to play, and he has taken advantage of it. Aho has two goals and three assists in 17 games this season, along with a rating of plus-1. Those numbers aren't eye-popping, but they are enough to keep Aho in the lineup over Salo for the time being.

Islanders' Sebastian Aho: In the lineup for 16 straight
Aho made his 16th appearance in the lineup in the victory over the Maple Leafs on Monday.
Aho was initially slated to be the emergency defender for the team this season. He was only going to play if there was an injury or if one of his fellow blueliners needed a rest. Aho got that chance once Robin Salo was sent down to the AHL due to roster issues. Salo is back with the team, but Aho has remained in the lineup. His numbers are unimpressive as he only has one goal, three assists, eight hits, seven blocked shots, and zero PIMs in those 16 games, but coach Lane Lambert must like what he has seen.
