Engvall signed a seven-year, $21 million contract with the Islanders on Saturday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. Engvall accounted for 17 goals and 30 points in 76 games split between the Maple Leafs and the Islanders last season. Look for him to occupy a middle-six forward spot and see time on the power play in 2023-24.... See More ... See Less

Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Grabs two points in Game 5
Engvall tallied a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Hurricanes. Engvall opened the scoring in Game 5 with his first point of the postseason, grabbing a loose puck in front of the net before beating Antti Raanta to give the Islanders a first-period lead. Engvall would pick up a second point with an assist on Brock Nelson's tally early in the second period. The 26-year-old Engvall posted 17 goals and 30 points in 76 regular games, including nine points (five goals, four assists) in 18 contests with the Islanders following a deadline move from Toronto.... Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Sets new career high in goals
Engvall scored a goal in a 5-1 win over New Jersey on Monday. Engvall's marker was his 16th of the season, which surpasses his previous career high set during the 2021-22 campaign. However, with 27 points through 69 appearances this season, he's still well behind his personal best of 35 points. Engvall was held off the scoresheet in each of his previous three outings, but he recorded three goals and five points over four games from March 11-18.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Success continues with helper
Engvall logged a power-play assist and two PIM in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Sharks. Engvall helped out on Ryan Pulock's second-period tally. The assist gave Engvall a four-game point streak (three goals, two helpers). The 26-year-old winger has found a place on the second line alongside Brock Nelson and Kyle Palmieri. Engvall has 26 points, 111 shots, 41 hits and a plus-3 rating through 65 outings this season, but his recent play could make him a viable depth forward in fantasy.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Keeps rolling with two points
Engvall scored a goal on three shots, added an assist and went plus-4 in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Ducks. Engvall has scored in three straight games, and his helper was his first as an Islander. The 26-year-old winger looked good on the second line with Brock Nelson and Kyle Palmieri in this contest, but it's unclear if that trio will stick together. For the season, Engvall has 15 goals, 10 assists, 111 shots on net, 41 hits and a plus-3 rating through 64 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Goals in back-to-back games
Engvall scored a goal on four shots in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Kings. Engvall needed some time to adjust to the Islanders, going without a point in his first three games following a trade from the Maple Leafs. He's bounced back with a goal in each of his last two outings, giving him 14 tallies and 23 points through 63 contests overall. The 26-year-old's spot in the lineup is still fluid, but he should continue to play regularly in a middle-six role.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Ends seven-game scoring slump
Engvall provided a goal in a 5-1 loss to Washington on Saturday. Engvall opened the scoring early in the first period, but the Islanders were unable to build off that lead. He has 13 goals and 22 points in 61 contests this season. Engvall was held off the scoresheet over his previous seven outings.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Set for Islanders debut
Engvall will make his debut with the Islanders on Saturday versus Detroit, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. Engvall is slated to play on the top line with Bo Horvat and Anders Lee in the contest. He had 12 goals and 21 points in 58 games with the Maple Leafs prior to being acquired by New York.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Traded to Long Island
Engvall was flipped to the Islanders from the Leafs in exchange for a 2024 third-round pick Tuesday. Engvall is just the latest change to the Leafs' roster that has been in complete flux, starting with the additions of Jake McCabe and Sam Lafferty. With his new club, the 26-year-old Engvall should be in the mix for a third-line role at a minimum and could even push for a large role down the stretch.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' Pierre Engvall: Three goals in last six games
Engvall scored a goal and added an assist Saturday in a 5-1 win over Montreal. His second-period goal stood as the winner. Engvall skated out of the corner and wired it past Jake Allen from just inside the right face-off dot. He won't equal his 35-point career high water mark set last season, but he is warming up a bit. Engvall has three goals and an assist, along with 17 shots, in his last six games.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' Pierre Engvall: Nets goal Friday
Engvall provided a goal in Toronto's 3-0 victory over Columbus on Friday. Engvall scored at 7:49 of the third period to boost the Maple Leafs' edge to 2-0. It was his 11th marker and 19th point in 51 games in 2022-23. Engvall entered the contest getting 13:03 of ice time per game this season, but he averaged 15:52 over his previous two outings and logged 16:55 on Friday. As long as the 26-year-old is playing a bigger role with Toronto, he's worth keeping an eye on.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' Pierre Engvall: Scores goal in rout
Engvall scored a goal on two shots in Sunday's 5-1 dismantling of the Capitals. Prior to Sunday's tilt, Engvall had failed to score a goal in six straight games and was pointless in his previous four outings. If the Swede can snag six more goals during the back half of the season, he could set a new personal best after putting up 15 during the 2021-22 campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' Pierre Engvall: Extends point streak to five games
Engvall scored a goal in a 6-2 win against Colorado on Saturday. Engvall's marker came at 9:27 of the first period and put Toronto up 2-0. It was his seventh goal and 14th point in 35 contests this season. The 26-year-old is on a five-game point streak.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' Pierre Engvall: Finishes serving suspension
Engvall has finished serving his one-game suspension for high-sticking Los Angeles defender Sean Durzi on Thursday. Engvall was not able to play in Saturday's contest against Calgary as a result of the one-game ban. However, he will be eligible to return Tuesday versus Anaheim. Engvall could slot back on Toronto's third line with David Kampf and Alex Kerfoot. If that happens, Joey Anderson could be bumped to the fourth line and Wayne Simmonds could be relegated to the press box. Engvall has four goals, seven points, 44 shots on net and 28 hits in 27 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' Pierre Engvall: Suspended one game
Engvall received a one-game suspension for high-sticking Kings defenseman Sean Durzi. Engvall will miss Saturday's game against Calgary and he'll be eligible to return Tuesday against the Ducks. The 26-year-old winger has seven points in 27 games this season, including a goal during Thursday's win over Los Angeles. Joey Anderson was promoted from AHL Toronto on Friday and could suit up Saturday.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' Pierre Engvall: Facing NHL discipline
Engvall could be suspended for high-sticking the Kings' Sean Durzi on Thursday, Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet reports. Engvall will meet with the NHL Disciplinary Committee via phone Friday as he was given a match penalty for his misdeed early in the third period. Durzi finished the game without missing a shift, but Engvall could be suspended for one or two games. Engvall has opened the scoring with his fourth goal of the season in a 5-0 Maple Leafs victory.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' Pierre Engvall: Converts game-winning marker
Engvall scored a third-period goal and added two shots during Wednesday's 3-1 win over the visiting Sharks. Engvall, who scored his first goal in nine outings Wednesday, will be needed at some point to provide consistent scoring. The Maple Leafs, who have won five straight, haven't needed much from the bottom two lines this season, but the top-six can't expect to carry the club all season. The 26-year-old left winger notched his first tally during his eighth appearance. Goal No. 2 came seven outings later.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' Pierre Engvall: Pockets helper Sunday
Engvall produced an assist and two shots on goal in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Hurricanes. Engvall set up Calle Jarnkrok's game-tying goal in the second period. The assist was just the second point of the season for Engvall, who has struggled to generate offense in a bottom-six role. He had 35 points in 78 contests last year, so the early struggles suggest he's going through a bit of regression. He's added 17 shots on net, 13 hits and an even plus-minus rating in 12 appearances, but it's unlikely he goes on an extended run of scoring any time soon.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' Pierre Engvall: First goal of season
Engvall scored his first goal of the season Saturday in a 4-2 loss to Los Angeles. Engvall's first point of the season (eight games) came late in the second period to draw the Leafs to within one at 3-2. The Leafs need secondary scoring and have been waiting for Engvall's game to wake up. He won't offer much in fantasy, but he will be useful on the ice if he can replicate or better his 35 points from last season.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' Pierre Engvall: Back in lineup
Engvall, who was a healthy scratch Saturday, will be back in the lineup Monday, reports The Star. The foot injury he suffered before training camp seems to have put him a little behind his teammates in terms of readiness, and he is yet to register a point. Engvall has seven shots and eight hits, but has been mostly invisible.... See More ... See Less
