Colton agreed to a four-year, $16 million contract with Colorado on Monday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. Colton and the Avalanche had an arbitration hearing scheduled for July 27, but now that won't be necessary. Colton produced 16 goals, 32 points, 153 shots on net and 188 hits in 81 games with Tampa Bay last season. Colorado acquired Colton from the Lightning on June 28 in exchange for the No. 37 pick, which was used on Ethan Gauthier, in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.... See More ... See Less

Avalanche's Ross Colton: Acquired from Lightning
Colton was traded to Colorado from Tampa Bay on Wednesday in exchange for the No. 37 overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft. Colton recorded 16 goals, 32 points, 50 PIM and 188 hits in 81 outings with Tampa Bay last season. He's coming off a two-year, $2.25 million contract and is eligible to become a restricted free agent with arbitration rights Saturday, so the Avalanche will need to re-sign him. Colton will likely start the 2023-24 campaign in a third-line role.... See More ... See Less -
Lightning's Ross Colton: Multi-point night in Game 1
Colton had a goal and a power-play assist in Tuesday's 7-3 Game 1 win over Toronto. Colton set up Corey Perry's power-play marker in the second period, then put the Lightning ahead 7-2 in the third. The goal was Colton's 10th in 47 career playoff games.... See More ... See Less -
Lightning's Ross Colton: Rare multi-point effort
Colton picked up two assists in Thursday's 5-0 win over Detroit. He also fired three shots and delivered two hits in 14:02 of ice time. Colton has just five points (one goal, four assists) in his last 18 games. Overall, he took a bit of a step backward this season after scoring 22 goals and 39 points in 79 games last year.... Lightning's Ross Colton: Right place, right time for goal
Colton scored a goal in Saturday's 4-3 shootout win over New Jersey. Colton opened the scoring at 1:09 of the first when he was in the right place at the right time. He was in front of the net and a Mikhail Sergachev shot hit him and deflected off his knee and past Akira Schmidt. Colton's fantasy contributions are limited -- he has three points, all goals, in his last 12 games.... See More ... See Less -
Lightning's Ross Colton: Two-point effort Tuesday
Colton scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Tuesday's 6-1 win over the Ducks. Both points came in the second period as the Lightning scored four unanswered goals to blow open the game. Colton had just one point, a goal, through seven games to begin February, and while he does have a spot on the second power-play unit, his overall production in a checking-line role is inconsistent at best. Through 55 games this season, the 26-year-old winger has 12 goals and 24 points.... See More ... See Less -
Lightning's Ross Colton: Scores in OT loss
Colton scored a goal on two shots in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Sharks. Colton opened the scoring 2:10 into the first period Tuesday, corralling a loose puck with space in front of the net before sliding it past Kaapo Kahkonen. With the goal Tuesday, Colton has four points (two goals, two assists) in his last five games. He's up to 11 goals, 11 assists and 117 hits while playing primarily in a bottom-six role for Tampa Bay.... See More ... See Less -
Lightning's Ross Colton: Two helpers against Wild
Colton notched two assists, one on the power play, in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Wild. Both points came in the second period as the 26-year-old got helpers on two pucks Corey Perry was able to tip home. It's Colton's first multi-point performance since Dec. 21, and he'd managed only one goal and three points in his prior 13 games coming into Tuesday, so he'll need to show a little more to get back on the fantasy radar in most formats.... Lightning's Ross Colton: Chips in with helper
Colton picked up an assist and two hits in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Canucks. Colton has a goal and two helpers with a plus-3 rating over his last five games. The 26-year-old has played primarily in a bottom-six role this season -- even with the Lightning's strong offense, that has limited his scoring a bit. The forward has nine goals, nine helpers, 100 hits, 72 shots on net and a minus-3 rating through 42 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Lightning's Ross Colton: Two points in Wednesday's loss
Colton had a goal, an assist and five shots in Wednesday's 7-4 loss to the Red Wings. Colton helped out on Alex Killorn's goal late in the first period, then potted his eighth goal of the season in the second to tie the score at 3-3. Unfortunately for Colton and the Lightning, the Red Wings went on to score four of the next five goals. Colton skated just 11:06 in a third-line role, and while 1:36 of that came on the power play, producing consistently will remain difficult in such a limited role.... See More ... See Less -
Lightning's Ross Colton: Will play Friday
Colton (upper body) will be back in the lineup versus St. Louis on Friday, Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com reports. Colton missed Monday's loss to Boston with the injury. The 26-year-old forward has four goals and nine points in 18 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Lightning's Ross Colton: Not playing Monday
Colton (upper body) will not suit up Monday against Boston, Gabby Shirley of Bally Sports Florida reports. With Colton out, the Lightning are expected to dress seven defensemen against the Bruins. The 26-year-old has three points in his last three games and nine through 18 contests on the year. He may have enough time to heal before Friday's tilt with the Blues.... See More ... See Less -
Lightning's Ross Colton: Offers helper in win
Colton notched a power-play assist and two shots on goal in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Ducks. Colton helped out on a Brandon Hagel tally in the third period that was the game-winner. The assist was Colton's second in the last three games. The 26-year-old winger has played mainly in a bottom-six role so far, picking up four points (one on the power play), 11 shots on net, 17 hits, four PIM and a minus-2 rating through eight contests.... Lightning's Ross Colton: Nets game-winning goal
Colton capped the Lightning's three-goal first period Friday and added an assist, helping to upend the Blue Jackets 5-2. Colton, a 26-year-old forward, is finding ways to stay in the Lightning's lineup. Colton's goal at 18:55 of the first period gave the Lightning a 3-2 lead and proved to be the game-winner. Of his 22 tallies last season, four were game-winners. Colton's two points Friday marked his first multi-point game since the 2016 fourth-round draft pick recorded back-to-back efforts last April.... Lightning's Ross Colton: Delivers helper Monday
Colton notched an assist and seven PIM in Monday's 6-2 win over the Avalanche in Game 3. Colton set up Nick Paul for the game-winning tally at 1:26 of the second period. The helper ended a nine-game point drought for Colton, who hasn't been able to rack up much offense in the back half of the playoffs. The third-liner is up to nine points (five goals, four assists), 34 shots on net, 55 hits, 11 PIM and a minus-1 rating through 20 contests this postseason.... See More ... See Less -
Lightning's Ross Colton: Scores Game 2 winner
Colton scored a goal on two shots in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Panthers. Colton scored the game-winner with less than four seconds remaining in regulation to give the Lightning a 2-0 series lead. The 25-year-old center has recorded a point in three straight games, with goals in his last two contests. Colton has five goals and two assists through nine games in the playoffs.... See More ... Lightning's Ross Colton: Scores in Game 1 victory
Colton scored a goal on five shots in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Panthers. Colton buried a rebound to score Tampa Bay's fourth goal on a third-period power play. The 25-year-old center has had a solid postseason with four goals and two assists while playing a middle-six role.... See More ... See Less -
Lightning's Ross Colton: Strikes twice in win
Colton scored a pair of goals on five shots and added five hits in Sunday's 7-3 win over the Maple Leafs in Game 4. Colton's second-period tally stood as the game-winner, and he added the second of the Lightning's two empty-netters. The physical winger has benefited from home ice -- he has three goals and nine shots in the two games played in Tampa, compared to no points and just four shots in the pair of contests in Toronto. He's added 12 hits with a minus-2 rating from his third-line role.... See More ... See Less -
Lightning's Ross Colton: Another multi-point game
Colton reached the 20-goal mark, scoring twice and adding an assist in Thursday's 8-1 victory over Toronto. Colton now has two goals in consecutive games and nine goals in 11 games since the start of April. The 25-year-old center has been on a tear of late despite averaging only 12:45 of ice time on Tampa's third line. In 73 games this season, Colton has recorded 21 goals and 17 assists.... See More ... Lightning's Ross Colton: Late-season surge continues
Colton scored two goals in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Red Wings. The second-year winger is thriving on a line with Steven Stamkos. Colton has eight goals and nine points over the last 12 games, and the 25-year-old now sits one tally shy of his first career 20-goal campaign.... See More ... See Less
