  • Blackhawks' David Gust: Promoted to top level

Gust was recalled from AHL Rockford on Saturday, according to Mark Lazerus of The Athletic.

Mike Hardman and Brett Seney were also recalled, so the Blackhawks can rest some veterans in the team's final preseason game versus St. Louis on Saturday. Gust had one goal in four NHL appearances last season.

  • Blackhawks' David Gust: Hits waivers

Gust was placed on waivers Sunday, per Chris Johnston of TSN.

Gust got his first taste of NHL action last season, scoring one goal in four games. The 29-year-old winger will likely serve a depth role with Chicago again this year, should he clear waivers.

  • Blackhawks' David Gust: Heads to minors

Gust was assigned to AHL Rockford on Friday, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Gust will join Rockford for the time being in order to be eligible to be moved between the NHL and the AHL down the stretch, but there's a chance he'll be right back with the big club ahead of Saturday's matchup with Nashille. He's tallied one goal through four top-level appearances this year.

  • Blackhawks' David Gust: Hits waivers

Gust was placed on waivers Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

In the likely event he passes through waivers unclaimed, look for Gust to be assigned to AHL Rockford. He's picked up one goal through three top-level appearances this year.

  • Blackhawks' David Gust: First shot, first goal

Gust scored a goal on two shots in Saturday's 4-3 shootout win over the Sharks.

Gust made a near-instant impact in his NHL debut, scoring a goal with his first shot on his first shift. The 29-year-old has spent the better part of the last three seasons in the NHL since the end of his collegiate career for Ohio State. With the Blackhawks expected to be sellers before Friday's trade deadline, a path to regular middle-six minutes could be in the cards for Gust over the last six weeks of the season.

  • Blackhawks' David Gust: Inks two-year deal

Gust signed a two-year contract with Chicago on Thursday and was subsequently recalled from AHL Rockford, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The 29-year-old winger has never played at the NHL level. He is having an outstanding season with AHL Rockford, having scored 24 goals and 26 assists in 51 games. His play has been so good, the Blackhawks have decided to ink him to a two-year contract -- not too shabby for a career minor-leaguer. The Blackhawks were down to 12 healthy forwards before the move -- they're hurting up front with injuries to Jonathan Toews (illness), Jujhar Khaira (back), Mackenzie Entwistle (wrist) and Reese Johnson (concussion).
