Avalanche's Bowen Byram: Bangs in goal
Byram scored a goal on three shots with one hit and two blocked shots over 19:50 of ice time in Sunday's 4-3 shootout win over the Coyotes. Byram finished off a rush he led, banging home a rebound of a Logan O'Connor shot midway through the second period. The offensively gifted Byram has three goals and two assists over the last eight games.... See More ... See Less -
Avalanche's Bowen Byram: Sets new career high in points
Byram notched a power-play assist, three hits, two blocked shots and two PIM in Monday's 5-0 win over the Blackhawks. Byram has two goals and two assists over his last five outings, which came after a five-game drought earlier in the month. The 21-year-old defenseman benefited from playing on the top power-play unit Monday, with Cale Makar (lower body) dinged up. Byram has 18 points through 31 contests this season, both career highs. He's added 46 shots on net, 65 hits, 40 blocked shots, 28 PIM and a plus-5 rating in a top-four role.... See More ... See Less -
Avalanche's Bowen Byram: Scores on man advantage
Byram scored a power-play goal in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Red Wings. He added one shot on net, two hits and one blocked shot to his line over 19:39 TOI. With the Avs on a 4-on-3 power play, Byram one-timed a Cale Makar feed from from the right faceoff circle for his second power-play tally and seventh overall in 30 games. The 21-year-old blueliner has had trouble staying healthy, but Byram contributes significantly on offense when he's on the ice. He's up to 17 points over 30 games, the same ratio he had last season.... See More ... See Less -
Avalanche's Bowen Byram: Scores sixth goal of 2022-23
Byram found the back of the net in Colorado's 8-4 win over Montreal on Monday. Byram's marker came early in the first period to give Colorado a 2-0 edge. It was his sixth goal and 15th point in 27 contests in 2022-23. The 21-year-old was held off the scoresheet over his previous five outings.... See More ... See Less -
Avalanche's Bowen Byram: On four-game point streak
Byram logged a power-play assist, four blocked shots, three hits and two PIM in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Flames. Byram set up Valeri Nichushkin's shot from the wing, which Mikko Rantanen tipped in. This gave Byram a four-game point streak (three goals, two assists). Colorado head coach Jared Bednar moved Byram to the top power-play unit the last two games, noting to Evan Rawal of Colorado Hockey Now that the unit had not been productive recently. The 21-year-old defenseman continues to thrive in a true top-four role with Cale Makar (concussion) out. Byram now has 13 points (three on the power play), 27 shots on net, 33 hits, 28 blocks, 15 PIM and a plus-10 rating through 19 contests this season.... See More ... See Less -
Avalanche's Bowen Byram: Scores in Friday's win
Byram scored a goal on three shots and went plus-3 in Friday's 5-1 win over the Jets. Byram capped off a four-goal first period for the Avalanche. He's scored three times over his last three games, and he has seven points in eight contests since returning from a lower-body injury. The 21-year-old blueliner continues to handle extra responsibility with Cale Makar (concussion) out. Byram is up to 12 points, 26 shots on net, 30 hits, 24 blocked shots and a plus-9 rating through 18 appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Avalanche's Bowen Byram: Two tallies in win over Blues
Byram scored two goals, one the game-winner and the other on the power play, in Saturday's 4-1 victory over St. Louis. The goals were Byram's first since returning after the All-Star break from a lower-body injury that had sidelined him since early November. The 21-year-old's fantasy ceiling remains limited by the presence of Cale Makar, who made his own return from a concussion Saturday, but Byram was the fourth overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft for a reason. In 16 games this season, Byram has four goals and 10 points.... See More ... See Less -
Avalanche's Bowen Byram: Pockets helper Tuesday
Byram notched an assist, four hits and two blocked shots in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Lightning. Byram has a helper in three of four games since returning from a lower-body injury that cost him 38 games. The 21-year-old has benefited from more playing time in that span, as the Avalanche have lost Cale Makar (head) and Erik Johnson (lower body) to injury recently. Byram is at eight points, 17 shots on net, 26 hits, 19 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating through 14 outings this season.... See More ... See Less -
Avalanche's Bowen Byram: Logs assist
Byram had an assist, three shots on goal, one hit and three blocked shots over 23:13 of ice time in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Panthers. In his third game back from a lengthy spell on injured reserve, Byram set a new high in TOI since rejoining the active lineup. The increased usage is understandable, as Colorado was without Cale Makar (head) for a second consecutive game. Byram has a pair of helpers since returning, and his offensive aptitude could help fill the void should Makar's injury force him to miss more time.... See More ... See Less -
Avalanche's Bowen Byram: In box for two goals
Byram had one shot on goal, three hits and four penalty minutes over 19:25 of ice time in Thursday's 5-0 loss to Tampa Bay. In his second game back from a 38-game absence, Byram did more to hurt than help. He picked up two hooking penalties which led to both Lightning power-play goals. With Cale Makar (upper body) out of action through at least Saturday, the Avalanche need Byram to help replace Makar's offensive capabilities.... See More ... See Less -
Avalanche's Bowen Byram: Logs assist in return
Byram had an assist, one shot on goal, three hits and three blocked shots over 21:29 of ice time in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Penguins. Byram returned to action after missing 38 games due to a tricky lower-body injury. He shook off an early blocked shot that forced him to briefly leave the game and jumped back into a prominent role on the second pair, ending the contest with a well-rounded stat line.... Byram played the first 10 games of the season and has been out since Nov. 5, a span of 38 games. Byram has been practicing of late, but Thursday was the first time he has been allowed to go all-out. The fourth-overall pick in the 2019 Draft, Byram has two goals and five points in 10 games this season. He could return as early as Tuesday in Pittsburgh.... See More ... See Less -
Avalanche's Bowen Byram: Could return after All-Star break
Byram (lower body) could be ready to return to action following the All-Star break, Brennan Vogt of Full Press Hockey reports. Byram will miss Colorado's next six games at a minimum, but it sounds like he could be ready to rejoin the lineup as early as Feb. 7 against the Penguins. The 21-year-old defender has been limited to just 10 games this season due to injury, picking up five points over that span.... See More ... See Less -
Avalanche's Bowen Byram: Resumes skating
Byram (lower body) did some light skating Monday, Evan Rawal of Colorado Hockey Now reports. Byram, who has been out since Nov. 4, appears to be making some progress. Avalanche's Bowen Byram: Not skating yet
Byram (lower body) hasn't begun to skate, according to Peter Baugh of The Athletic. Byram last played on Nov. 4 because of the injury. If he's not skating yet, then it seems safe to say that Byram's not close to returning. When he is ready to play, the 21-year-old should serve on one of Colorado's top two pairings.... See More ... Avalanche's Bowen Byram: Lands on IR
Byram (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Monday, per CapFriendly. Byram has been out since Nov. 4, so he is eligible to be activated once he has been cleared to return. He won't play Monday versus Philadelphia, as he didn't accompany the Avalanche on the road. Byram has registered two goals, five points, 11 shots on net, 11 blocks and 15 hits in 10 appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Avalanche's Bowen Byram: Ramping up
Byram (lower body) has resumed skating and will ramp up during Colorado's four-game road trip, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports. Byram returned to the ice over the weekend and will dial up the intensity this week while skating with skills coach Shawn Allard. "Start ramping them up to get them to join the group," head coach Jared Bednar said, referring to both Byram and Darren Helm (hip). The Avalanche are on the road through next Monday and return to play at home Dec. 7 against the Bruins.... See More ... See Less -
Avalanche's Bowen Byram: Skating Saturday
Byram (lower body) skated on his own Saturday, according to Adrian Dater of ColoradoHockeyNow.com. Byram has been out of action since Nov. 4, as he has missed the Avalanche's last eight games. It's a good sign that he is back on the ice, but there is still no timetable for his return. Byram, the fourth overall pick in 2019, has two goals and five points in 10 games this season....
