Ylonen had one shot on net and scored the winning tally in the shootout of Friday's 3-2 win over San Jose. Ylonen had just 7:16 of ice time and barely played in the third period, logging just two shifts, before the fourth-line forward ended matters with a beautiful deke around Mackenzie Blackwood. With Rafael Harvey-Pinard (lower body) expected to be sidelined for up to two months, Ylonen could get a chance to play regularly. The 24-year-old Ylonen, who has been a healthy scrarch seven times, has three goals and one assist in 13 appearances this campaign.... See More ... See Less

Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Posts assist
Ylonen logged an assist in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Ducks. Ylonen has played in four straight games, picking up three points over that span to help his case to stay in the lineup. The 24-year-old winger set up a Kaiden Guhle tally in the first period Wednesday. Ylonen has four points 14 shots on net, 12 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating through 12 contests overall.... Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Two-goal surprise
Ylonen scored twice Thursday in a 6-5 loss to Vegas. Ylonen did a lot with 7:22 of ice time -- he wired four shots and laid one hit, and showed off his quick hands and great release on both snipes. His first was especially sharp -- he fired a wrist shot that beat Adin Hill glove side on a second-period breakaway. Ylonen is a young speedster whose ice time has dropped below 10 minutes a night after he sat in the press box early in November. He has potential, but right now, he's not getting the right ice to show off his skills.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Takes advantage of turnover
Ylonen scored a goal on one shot and blocked a shot over 11:01 of ice time in Wednesday's 6-5 shootout loss to Toronto. Montreal's fourth line was responsible for two of the team's five goals and showed an opportunistic flair in doing so. Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren misfired on an attempted clear, and Rafael Harvey-Pinard pounced on the loose puck. Harvey-Pinard fed Ylonen for the Canadiens' final score. Ylonen showed an offensive flair and skated on the top line at times in 2022-23. That may not repeat itself this season, but both he and Harvey-Pinard made an impression on head coach Martin St. Louis during their first significant taste of the NHL last season.... See More ... Ylonen had an assist, two shots on goal and two blocked shots over 15:06 of ice time in Monday's 4-3 shootout win over Buffalo. Ylonen extended his point streak to three games when he picked up the secondary assist on Brendan Gallagher's third-period strike. The 23-year-old forward has helped Montreal survive the loss of several forwards to injury. He's shown ability on the offensive side but must gain a measure of consistency in his own end to be considered for a regular role next season.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Returns with multi-pointer
Ylonen (Illness) scored a goal and assisted on another in Saturday's 8-2 win over Columbus. He added four shots over 11:17 of ice time. In his return from a two-game absence due to illness, Ylonon picked up his fourth goal and fifth point over the last five contests. As the Canadiens continue to shuffle forwards due to injuries -- Josh Anderson (ankle) went down this week while Brendan Gallagher and Jake Evans returned -- it looks like Ylonen has a place on the roster for the rest of the season. He has six goals and eight assists over 30 games. All six tallies have come in the past 14 games, during which Ylonen has an unsustainable 31.6 shooting percentage.... See More ... See Less -

Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Under the weather
Ylonen will not be in action against the Lightning on Tuesday due to illness. Ylonen may have been heading for the press box as a healthy scratch anyway, as both Kirby Dach (lower body) and Brendan Gallagher (lower body) are expected to return to action versus Tampa Bay. Still, the 23-year-old Ylonen has goals in three of his last four contests, showing the scoring touch that saw him selected by the organization with the 35th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft.... Ylonen scored the second of four first-period goals against Tristan Jarry, who didn't see the forward's wrister coming due to the screen by Rafael Harvey-Pinard. The tally was the second in as many games for Ylonen, who continues to play on the first line. He has 11 points in 27 games since his callup.... See More ... See Less -

Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Nabs helper in loss
Ylonen posted an assist in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Golden Knights. Ylonen is providing solid middle-six offense lately with two goals and five helpers over his last 11 contests. He's added just 11 shots on net in that span, which suggests that offense is a bit unsustainable until he can start generating more chances. Ylonen replaced Denis Gurianov on the top line midway through the second period; minutes with Nick Suzuki are the reward for good play. The 23-year-old is up to nine points, 25 shots on net, 18 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating through 22 outings overall. With the Canadiens still battling numerous injuries throughout the lineup, he has significant job security until some forwards return.... See More ... See Less -
