Romanov compiled 22 points, 100 shots on goal, 129 blocked shots and 198 hits in 76 games last year.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Alexander Romanov: Undergoes surgery
Romanov underwent surgery this offseason but is expected to be ready for training camp, Stefen Rosner of The Hockey News reports. Romanov dealt with an upper-body injury at the tail end of the regular season and into the playoffs, though the Islanders didn't specify what surgery he had. The 23-year-old defenseman's status isn't in question as long as he recovers well over the summer.... See More ... See Less -

Islanders' Alexander Romanov: Remains unavailable Wednesday
Romanov (upper body) didn't practice with the team Wednesday and is expected to miss Game 2 versus the Hurricanes, Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports. Romanov has been sidelined since April versus the Lightning, a stretch of six games on the shelf due to his upper-body issue. Prior to getting hurt, the blueliner was stuck in a 14-game goal drought during which he managed just 19 shots while recording four helpers. Even once cleared to play, Romanov is far from a lock to retake a spot in the lineup and may still have to keep watching from the press box.... See More ... See Less -

Islanders' Alexander Romanov: Won't return Thursday
Romanov (upper body) isn't expected to play Thursday versus Tampa Bay, Stefen Rosner of The Hockey News reports. Islanders' Alexander Romanov: Slides helper Saturday
Romanov notched an assist, four blocked shots, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Sharks. Romanov set up Zach Parise's insurance goal in the third period. While Romanov has a modest three assists through seven games in March, he's added a plus-6 rating for the month. The 23-year-old defenseman is up to 21 points, a plus-11 rating, 92 shots on goal, 181 hits and 120 blocked shots through 70 outings overall, chipping in solid offense with his usual physical play.... Islanders' Alexander Romanov: Finding his game
Romanov has a rating of plus-7 over his last six games. On the season, Romanov has two goals, 20 points and a rating of plus-8 in 67 games. It seems unlikely that he will ever be an offensive force, but the Isles knew that when they traded a first-round pick to the Canadiens for his services. Whether or not the 23-year-old will be worth that pick is up for debate, but the team will hope his defensive game keeps maturing, and that Romanov might improve offensively as he gains more experience.... Islanders' Alexander Romanov: Scores in win
Romanov logged a goal, two shots and three hits in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Jets. Romanov extended the Islanders' lead to 2-0 in the second period, firing a slapshot off the glove of David Rittich. It's Romanov's second goal of the season and his first since Dec. 22. He's up to 18 points through 62 games. While his offensive production is limited, Romanov has provided a physical presence on New York's blue line with 161 hits and 105 blocked shots.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Alexander Romanov: Makes presence felt in win
Romanov contributed an assist, a blocked shot and four hits in Friday's 5-4 win over the Penguins. Romanov is up to 100 blocked shots and 144 hits this season, as the second-pairing defenseman continues to mash and play fearlessly. He's also teased offensive potential based on a goal and 17 helpers through 58 games. The Isles don't use Romanov on the power play, though.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Alexander Romanov: Back at practice Thursday
Romanov (personal) is back at practice Thursday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. Romanov missed Tuesday's contest versus Seattle, the first game he has missed this season. He has a goal and 14 assists in 53 games this season with 132 hits and 98 blocked shots. Romanov should be good to go Thursday when the Islanders face Vancouver.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Alexander Romanov: One goal in 52 games this season
Romanov has one goal, 14 assists and a plus-6 rating in 52 games this season. General manager Lou Lamoriello giving up a first-round pick for those numbers is getting harder and harder to justify. Romanov may have a future as a top-three defender, but he certainly isn't there yet and offers little to no fantasy value.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Alexander Romanov: Pockets helper
Romanov notched an assist, four hits and four PIM in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Capitals. This was Romanov's third assist through eight games in January. The 23-year-old blueliner can chip in a bit of offense, but he primarily relies on physicality to make an impact. For the season, he's at a career-high 15 points with 57 shots on net, 112 hits, 83 blocked shots, 29 PIM and a plus-8 rating through 45 contests.... See More ... See Less -

The 22-year-old defenseman has 13 points in 39 contests this season, matching his scoring output from 79 outings last season.
