Carter scored two goals on five shots in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Avalanche. Carter put his 11-game goal drought to rest in a big way Wednesday. His first goal came on the power play in the second period, and it stood as the game-winner. He also scored an insurance marker in the third. The 38-year-old center has had his share of struggles, but he was a strong performer in a tough matchup. Carter is at 11 goals, 26 points (eight on the power play), 115 shots, 75 hits, 49 blocked shots and a minus-16 rating through 68 appearances.... See More ... See Less

Penguins' Jeff Carter: Ends seven-game point slump
Carter had a goal in the Penguins' 7-3 win over Tampa Bay on Sunday. Carter scored at 17:50 of the second period to increase Pittsburgh's edge to 5-2. It was his ninth goal and 21st point in 56 games in 2022-23. Carter snapped a seven-game scoring drought with the goal.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Jeff Carter: Ends drought Friday
Carter scored a goal on three shots in Friday's 6-3 win over the Ducks. Trips to Anaheim have often been a cure-all for what ails opposing offenses. In this case, it was helped Carter shake off an ugly 11-game point drought that saw him go minus-5 with 17 shots on net. The lack of offense lately has served to keep Carter firmly in a third-line role. He has eight tallies, 20 points, 82 shots on net, 55 hits, 42 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating through 48 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Jeff Carter: Deposits empty-netter
Carter scored an empty-net goal on two shots and blocked two shots in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Coyotes. Carter put the icing on the cake Sunday, helping the Penguins end a six-game skid. The 38-year-old center has three goals and two helpers over his last five contests, which followed a seven-game point drought. He's up to seven goals, 19 points, 62 shots on net, 42 hits, 37 blocks and a minus-2 rating through 36 outings.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Jeff Carter: Attempts pass, but scores
Carter scored a goal during a 4-2 loss to the visiting Devils on Friday. Carter, who has converted in consecutive contests, scored his sixth of the season, giving the Penguins a 2-1, second-period lead. The 37-year-old center converted after Pierre-Olivier Joseph drove to the net and passed to Carter, whose return pass ricocheted off Jonas Siegenthaler and past goalie Vitek Vanecek. Carter produced just one shot in 14:36 of ice time in the loss.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Jeff Carter: Ends seven-game scoring drought
Carter scored a goal and recorded an assist in a 5-4 overtime loss to Detroit on Wednesday. Carter's two points were recorded with the man advantage. He's up to five markers and 16 points in 32 games this season, including seven power-play points. Carter's efforts versus Detroit snapped his seven-game point drought.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Jeff Carter: Seals win for Pens
Carter generated a power-play goal in overtime, helping the Penguins to a 4-3 win over the Sabres on Friday. Carter picked up a rebound at the doorstep to stun the home team in the extra frame. While the savvy veteran hasn't had any huge games, his consistency has been key en route to 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) through 24 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Jeff Carter: Deposits empty-netter
Carter scored an empty-net goal on three shots in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Blackhawks. The Penguins' initial 3-0 lead didn't last, but they pulled ahead on a Sidney Crosby goal in the third period. Carter then added an empty-netter to secure the win in the final minute. The tally was his third of the season, but his first since Oct. 20. The 37-year-old has played in a third-line role for much of the season, and he's doing alright with 10 points, 29 shots on net, 16 hits and a plus-1 rating through 16 contests. Carter's fantasy value is likely limited to deeper formats.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Jeff Carter: Garners assist in return
Carter logged an assist and two PIM in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Capitals. Carter was out for three games due to a lower-body injury. He skated on the third line for most of the contest, but he also filled in for a shift on defense when the Penguins had three blueliners unavailable. We wouldn't expect the 37-year-old to make a late-career position change -- he should continue playing a middle-six role up front. Carter has seven points (three on the power play), 20 shots on net, 10 hits, four PIM and a minus-2 rating through 10 appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Jeff Carter: Ready to rock
Carter (lower body) will return to the lineup Wednesday versus the Capitals, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Carter missed three games with the injury. The 37-year-old is slated to center the third line and work on the second power-play unit. With Josh Archibald (undisclosed) also returning, Kasperi Kapanen and Samuel Poulin are expected to be scratched Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Jeff Carter: Game-time call Wednesday
Carter (lower body) will be a game-time decision versus Washington on Wednesday, Penguins' play-by-play announce Josh Getzoff reports. Carter could return after having been out of action for the club's previous three contests due to his lower-body issue. If cleared to play, Carter would almost certainly step into the third-line center role, which could see Samuel Poulin dropped from the lineup depending on the health of Josh Archibald (undisclosed).... Penguins' Jeff Carter: Practicing in full
Carter (lower body) is skating without a non-contact jersey Sunday, per Dave Molinari of Pittsburgh Hockey Now. Carter has been sidelined since suffering a lower-body injury Oct. 29 against Seattle. It appears that the veteran forward is on track to return for Wednesday's contest in Washington. Carter logged a pair of goals and four assists through nine games to start the season.... See More ... Penguins' Jeff Carter: Skates before practice Saturday
Carter (lower body) was skating before practice Saturday, Wes Crosby of NHL.com reports. Carter has missed the last two games after he was injured in the opening period against the Kraken on Oct. 29. While this is a step in the right direction, Carter won't be ready to return to game action Saturday against Seattle. He has two goals and four assists in nine games this season.... See More ... Penguins' Jeff Carter: Won't play Wednesday
Carter (lower body) will miss Wednesday's game against Buffalo. This will be Carter's second straight game missed because of the lower-body injury. He has two goals and six points in nine games this season. When he's healthy, he'll likely serve on the third line.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Jeff Carter: Ruled out versus Bruins
Carter (lower body) won't be available for Tuesday's tilt with the Bruins, Rob Rossi of The Athletic reports. With the Penguins entering a back-to-back, Carter should probably be considered a long shot of ace the Sabres on Wednesday either, though he hasn't been officially ruled out. The veteran center is currently stuck in a five-game goal drought during which he has registered two assists, nine shots and four hits. Without Carter in the lineup, recent call-up Drew O'Connor figures to slot into a third-line center role.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Jeff Carter: Unlikely to play Tuesday
Carter (lower body) is unlikely to be in the lineup Tuesday against Boston, Penguins radio play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff reports. The Penguins brought up Drew O'Connor from the minors Monday as a potential replacement. Carter didn't practice Monday and is day-to-day after being injured Saturday against Seattle.... See More ... Penguins' Jeff Carter: Sustains lower-body injury
Carter is being evaluated for a lower-body injury suffered in the first period of Saturday's game versus the Kraken, Taylor Haase of DKPittsburghSports.com reports. Carter played only in the first period before exiting late. The center didn't get on the scoresheet in the contest, logging consecutive pointless outings for the first time this year. He should be considered day-to-day until more information surfaces, likely ahead of Tuesday's game versus the Bruins.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Jeff Carter: Slides power-play helper
Carter notched a power-play assist, three shots on goal, three blocked shots and two hits in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Flames. Carter moved up to the second line with Jake Guentzel (upper body) and Jason Zucker (undisclosed) both unavailable Tuesday. While the Penguins didn't get a lot going at even strength, Carter was able to help out as they cashed in a power-play chance in the second period. The 37-year-old has impressed so far with six points (three on the power play) through seven contests. He's added 16 shots on net, nine hits, nine blocks and an even plus-minus rating. He should continue to see regular middle-six usage with power-play time, so he could be a solid depth option in fantasy.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Jeff Carter: Scores goal in rout
Carter scored a goal on two shots in Thursday's 6-1 win over Los Angeles. Carter is putting together a strong start to the 2022-23 campaign in which he has garnered two goals and two assists through the opening four contests. While the veteran center may not be able to maintain this pace throughout the campaign, he should still be capable of matching the 45-point mark he set last year in his first full season in Pittsburgh.... Penguins' Jeff Carter: Three points in two games
Carter scored a goal and added an assist Saturday in a 6-2 win over Tampa Bay. The assist came on the power play; his goal extended the score to 4-1 early in the third on a wrist shot from the bottom of the right circle. Carter has three points (one goal, two assists) in two games this season.... See More ... See Less
