  • Sabres' Lukas Rousek: Returned to AHL

Rousek was loaned to AHL Rochester on Sunday.

Rousek was a healthy scratch for Saturday's 2-0 win over the Islanders. He has produced 15 goals and 48 points in 61 AHL contests this campaign.

  • Sabres' Kyle Okposo: First goal in eight games

Okposo scored the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over the Islanders on Saturday.

Okposo was in the left circle near the slot when Ilya Lyubushkin's shot from the right point hit the Isles' Anders Lee and deflected onto his stick. He made no mistake, ringing it off the near post and in past Semyon Varlamov. It was Okposo's first goal in eight games and just his third in 31 games. Yep -- the decline is real. He has 10 goals and 25 points in 65 games in the last year of his current contract. The 34-year-old winger and team captain will looking to continue to prove his leadership is worth a new deal in Buffalo, albeit at much less his current $6 million cap hit.

  • Sabres' Eric Comrie: First shutout of year

Comrie made 26 saves in a 2-0 win over the Islanders on Saturday.

It was Comrie's first shutout of the season and second in the NHL (41 starts). It was his first start after missing six games to a lower-body injury. The shutout was a nice change from Comrie's last game -- he allowed 10 goals on 49 shots in a loss to the Stars on March 9.

  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Starting Saturday

Thompson (undisclosed) will be in the Sabres' lineup Saturday versus the Islanders, according to Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550.

Thompson was a game-time decision and the Sabres went until the last minute before deciding that he was well enough to play. Thompson was injured Friday night versus New Jersey. He has a two-game goal scoring streak on the line. Thompson has 44 goals and 89 points in 71 games this season.

  • Sabres' Vinnie Hinostroza: Not in Saturday lineup

Hinostroza will sit out his second straight game Saturday due to personal reasons, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.

Hinostroza had sat out six of the previous seven contests as he was a healthy scratch for the Sabres. Hinostroza has only two goals and 11 points in 26 games this season.

  • Sabres' Jordan Greenway: Not playing Saturday

Greenway (upper body) will be out of the lineup Saturday versus the Islanders, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.

This will be Greenway's third straight game on the sidelines after getting hurt versus Boston on March 19. The 26-year-old has a goal in eight games with Buffalo after picking up two goals and seven points in 45 games with the Wild, earlier in the season.

  • Sabres' Eric Comrie: Between pipes Saturday

Comrie will defend the home crease versus the Islanders on Saturday, Stefen Rosner of The Hockey News reports.

Comrie was the backup netminder versus New Jersey on Friday after missing six games with a lower-body injury. Comrie is 8-9-0 with a 3.95 GAA and .877 save percentage this season. He will face the Islanders, who are holding down the first wild card in the Eastern Conference with 83 points, nine points better than the 12th-place Sabres.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Clutch helper in win

Olofsson recorded a power-play assist in Friday's 5-4 win over the Devils.

Olofsson has power-play assists in back-to-back games, with his latest apple proving to be a critical one since the Devils ended up scoring a pair of unanswered goals in the third period and nearly flipped the script. While Buffalo's a longshot to make the playoffs, Olofsson's propensity for clutch moments shouldn't be overlooked; he's secured 11 game-winning goals in the past two seasons alone.

  • Sabres' Peyton Krebs: Earns assist as Sabres prevail

Krebs registered an assist in Friday's 5-4 win over the Devils.

Krebs has eight goals and 15 assists, topping his rookie output by a single point, though it's taken him 15 more games to get there. There's untapped potential with Krebs -- who was the No. 17 overall pick by the Golden Knights in 2019 and ultimately packaged in the Jack Eichel trade -- but the Sabres are easing him in as a fourth-line pivot with occasional looks on the power play.

  • Sabres' Lukas Rousek: Recalled from AHL

Rousek was recalled from AHL Rochester on Saturday, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.

Rousek was recalled on an emergency basis, as Tage Thompson suffered an undisclosed injury Friday and his status for Saturday's tilt versus the Islanders is unknown. Rousek had 15 goals and 33 assists in 61 games with AHL Rochester before his recall.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Reaches 30 power-play points

Dahlin produced a power-play assist in Friday's 5-4 win over the Devils.

Dahlin now has 18 points in 17 career games against New Jersey, and that's the most he's put up against any team. On the season, the electrifying blueliner has amassed 14 goals, 51 assists and 30 power-play points through 67 contests. Those are all career highs, as is the lesser-known figure of 113 blocked shots. Remember, Dahlin is just 22 years old but he's already in his fifth season -- it'll be fun to uncover the full scope of his immense potential and to see the type of deal he'll command after banking $6 million AAV on his first (three-year) standard contract.

  • Sabres' Jack Quinn: Two-point effort Friday

Quinn recorded a goal and an assist in Friday's 5-4 win over the Devils.

Both points came in the first period as the Sabres jumped out to a 3-1 lead before the 11-minute mark and chased Akira Schmid from the game, with Quinn's tally being the dagger. It was his first multi-point performance in March, but the 21-year-old is still having a productive first full season in the NHL with 14 goals and 34 points through 64 games.

  • Sabres' John-Jason Peterka: Two helpers Friday

Peterka collected two assists in Friday's 5-4 win over the Devils.

Both helpers came in the first period as the Sabres jumped out to a 3-1 lead before the 11-minute mark and chased Akira Schmid from the game. Peterka has three multi-point performances in his last seven games, and the 21-year-old has been clicking on a kid line with the 22-year-old Dylan Cozens and the 21-year-old Jack Quinn. Despite his meager totals on the season (nine goals and 29 points through 66 games), Peterka could provide fantasy rosters with a late boost for the stretch run.

  • Sabres' Dylan Cozens: Two points against Devils

Cozens notched a goal and an assist in Friday's 5-4 win over New Jersey.

The 22-year-old opened the scoring early in the first period, converting a slick pass from Jack Quinn. Cozens has slowed down since his blistering start to the season, but through 12 games in March he still has a tidy five goals and eight points and has reached 60 points for the first time in his career. Next milestone on tap -- Cozens needs two more tallies for his first 30-goal campaign.

  • Sabres' Alex Tuch: Three-point eruption Friday

Tuch scored two goals, one the game-winner on the power play, and added an even-strength assist in Friday's 5-4 victory over the Devils.

Both tallies came in the second period as the Sabres raced out to a 5-2 lead they nearly coughed up in the third. It's Tuch's second two-goal performance in six games since returning from a lower-body injury, and on the season the 26-year-old has already established new career highs with 32 goals -- eight of them game-winners -- and 68 points, including eight goals and 17 points with the man advantage.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Back in win column

Luukkonen made 27 saves in Friday's 5-4 win over the Devils.

The netminder picked up his 16th win of the season after going 0-3-2 over his last six appearances, but Luukkonen nearly let it slip through his fingers as he gave up two third-periods tallies to Jack Hughes to make things close. Luukkonen has a rough .869 save percentage since the All-Star break, but Buffalo doesn't seem to have any better options in net right now as they try to stay alive in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Questionable Saturday

Thompson (undisclosed) is considered questionable for Saturday's game against the Islanders, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.

Thompson scored a goal on four shots in 13:14 of ice time in Friday's win over the Devils. He left the game but was able to return, though it seems like the injury is lingering. The 25-year-old is up to 44 goals and 89 points through 71 games. Thompson will likely be considered a game-time call Saturday unless there's another update before the game.
