Donaldson (hamstring) is slated to be evaluated after playing in a minor-league game with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday, per the Associated Press. Donaldson has already played in two contests with the Triple-A club during his current rehab assignment, going 1-for-6 with two walks, two strikeouts and a run. He played third base in the first game and DH in the second before getting a scheduled day off Saturday. Donaldson is expected to be back in the RailRiders' lineup Sunday before the organization evaluates his progress. It's possible that he could be activated from the IL and rejoin the Yankees during the team's series that starts Monday in Seattle, though it's previously been indicated that the third baseman is more likely to return next weekend to face the Dodgers in Los Angeles.... Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Rehab assignment on tap
Donaldson (hamstring) is expected to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports. Yankees manager Aaron Boone said it's possible Donaldson will be ready to return early next week for the team's series in Seattle, but the team is more likely leaning toward activating the veteran third baseman from the 10-day injured list ahead of the series versus the Dodgers that begins June 2. Donaldson has been sidelined since early April with a right hamstring strain. He encountered a couple setbacks along the way, first when he had to be pulled off an initial rehab assignment when the hamstring flared up and more recently when he sliced his thumb in a mishap at home. Donaldson is expected to be an everyday player when he rejoins the Yankees.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Rehab assignment imminent
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Donaldson (hamstring/thumb) is close to heading out on a minor-league rehab assignment, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports. Boone also noted that Donaldson will be an everyday player when he returns from the 10-day injured list. Donaldson's right hamstring seemingly has been a non-issue for a little while now, but he had a setback recently when he sliced his thumb in a mishap at home. It's not clear how many rehab games Donaldson might require before being activated.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Sliced thumb delays rehab
Donaldson (hamstring) said Thursday he recently sliced his thumb, which has delayed him from beginning a rehab assignment, Max Goodman of The Newark Star-Ledger reports. Donaldson said Thursday that he was "putting something together" with his daughter when he suffered the cut. It's not a huge setback -- his hamstring is almost fully healed -- but he might not get into minor-league rehab games until sometime next week. The veteran third baseman has been on the shelf since early April.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Week away from rehab games
Donaldson (hamstring) will go through another week of "intense baseball activities" before starting a rehab assignment, Yankees manager Aaron Boone told Max Goodman of The Newark Star-Ledger. It had seemed like a rehab assignment for Donaldson was imminent, but he'll need to get through a few more days of workouts first. That would seem to put him on a timetable to return toward the end of the month, if all goes well. Donaldson has been out since early April with a right hamstring strain.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Could begin rehab assignment soon
Donaldson (hamstring) will ramp up baseball activity during the upcoming homestand and could soon begin a rehab assignment, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. It sounds like Donaldson is ahead of Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) in his recovery. If he can avoid setbacks, a return in the middle of May seems feasible.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Logging some activity
Donaldson (hamstring) took grounders and batted on the field at Yankee Stadium on Monday, and he worked out at the Yankees' complex in Tampa, Florida on Friday, per MLB.com. Donaldson is dealing with a "Grade 1-plus strain" of his right hamstring, which resulted in a rehab stint being halted after just one game April 18. The veteran third baseman's recent activity suggests that he's improving, though there's been no word from the organization about an estimated return date. It stands to reason that Donaldson would need to re-start a minor-league rehab assignment before he's eventually cleared to return to the big club.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Out for multiple weeks
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Friday that Donaldson will likely be out for a couple of weeks with a Grade 1-plus strain in his right hamstring, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports. Donaldson had to cut short his rehab assignment Wednesday after experiencing a setback. It's unclear if the Yankees will send him on another assignment once he's feeling better, but his return to the majors has been pushed back well into May, at the least.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Returned from rehab assignment
The Yankees returned Donaldson (hamstring) from his rehab assignment Thursday. Though this move ends Donaldson's current rehab assignment, it won't result in him being activated from the injured list. The veteran third baseman suffered a setback in a minor-league contest while trying to work his way back from a right hamstring strain, and he's awaiting the results of a subsequent MRI. It's not yet clear how much additional time Donaldson will miss as a result of the setback.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Off rehab, gets MRI
Donaldson said Wednesday that he has been pulled off his rehab assignment at Double-A Somerset and underwent an MRI on his ailing right hamstring following a setback, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Donaldson felt his hamstring tighten up again while playing in his first rehab game with Somerset on Tuesday. The results of the MRI aren't in yet, but he'll have his timeline for a return pushed back at least a few days while his status is in limbo. Even if his setback results in only a brief time away from his rehab assignment, Donaldson could struggle to make it back from the 10-day injured list before the end of April.... See More ... Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Still dealing with tightness
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Donaldson (hamstring) is still dealing with tightness and will be evaluated Wednesday before a decision is made on when he might return from the 10-day injured list, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports. Donaldson went 1-for-3 in the first game of his rehab assignment Tuesday at Double-A Somerset before he was replaced by Delvin Perez. The veteran third baseman has a chance to return to the Yankees on Wednesday, but if he's still feeling tightness in his right hamstring, the club will wait another day or two before adding him back to the roster.... Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Beginning rehab assignment
Donaldson (hamstring) has commenced a rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset starting Tuesday. Donaldson will get back on the field for the Patriots in Double-A before rejoining the Yankees as soon as Wednesday. The infielder should return to starting at third for the Yankees well before the end of the week at the latest.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Likely to return Wednesday
Donaldson (hamstring) is expected to play in a minor-league rehab game Tuesday before being activated from the injured list Wednesday, Erik Boland of Newsday reports. Donaldson is already eligible to come off the IL and is taking batting practice ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Twins, per Marly Rivera of ESPN.com, and it'll be just a few more days before he's activated. The 37-year-old should be starting games at the hot corner for New York before the end of the week.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: May return Sunday
Donaldson (hamstring) "feels completely healed" and is hoping to be activated from the IL on Sunday, Randy Miller of NJ Advance Media reports. Donaldson began raising the intensity of his workouts earlier this week and appears to be just about past the strained right hamstring that landed him on the injured list April 8. According to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, the veteran third baseman "looks good" and is "moving well." Donaldson is eligible to be activated Sunday, though the Yankees are off Monday, so they may opt to take advantage of the extra recovery day and wait until Tuesday to bring him off the IL.... Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Upping workout intensity
Donaldson (hamstring) has been upping the intensity of his workouts, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports. It's not clear whether Donaldson has tested out his hamstring with any running yet, but he appears to be making progress. The hope is that he'll be ready for activation when his 10 days are up.... Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Could return in 10 days
Yankees manager Aaron Boone believes that Donaldson (hamstring) could miss only the required 10 days while on the injured list, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Donaldson was placed on the injured list Saturday with a right hamstring strain, retroactive to April 6. The infielder is already hitting and throwing per Boone, and assuming there's no setbacks, there's a good chance Donaldson is manning the hot corner again for the Yankees in the middle of April.... Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Moves to injured list
Donaldson was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right hamstring strain, retroactive to April 6. Manager Aaron Boone indicated Friday that a move to the injured list was likely for Donaldson, and that transaction is now official. The veteran third baseman will be eligible to be activated April 16, though it's unclear if he's expected to be healthy by that point. DJ LeMahieu should operate as New York's primary third baseman in the meantime, but Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Oswaldo Cabrera could also be in the mix.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Expected to land on IL
Donaldson (hamstring) is likely to require an injured list stint, Jack Curry of YES Network reports. The hamstring injury which forced Donaldson from Wednesday's game against the Phillies was downplayed at the time, but he apparently hasn't made as much progress as anticipated. The team will make an official call on a potential IL move later Friday. DJ LeMahieu should be the Yanks' primary third baseman while Donaldson is out, but Oswaldo Cabrera and Isiah Kiner-Falefa are also options.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Absent from Friday's lineup
Donaldson (hamstring) is not in the Yankees' lineup for Friday's game in Baltimore. The hamstring injury which forced Donaldson from Wednesday's game versus the Phillies was not deemed serious, but he'll be held out even after Thursday's off day. DJ LeMahieu will be at third base.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Injury not expected to be serious
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said after Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Phillies that Donaldson's right hamstring injury isn't expected to be too serious, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports. Donaldson could still undergo an MRI, which would reveal more about the severity of his injury. At this juncture, though, the team doesn't seem to be fearing an extended absence. The Yankees are off Thursday before starting a weekend series in Baltimore.... See More ... See Less
