Athletics' Trevor May: Inks deal with Oakland
May agreed to a one-year, $7 million contract with the A's on Friday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
May missed a chunk of last season with an arm injury and had a 5.04 ERA across 25 innings, but he was still able to secure a solid deal for 2023. The 33-year-old was a dependable bullpen piece over the previous four campaigns with a 3.33 ERA and 32.3 percent strikeout rate, plus 11 saves and 46 holds.

The Mets reinstated May (illness) from the COVID-19 injured list Monday.
As expected, May is off the injured list and will rejoin the Mets' bullpen. The right has a 3.86 ERA in 9.1 innings since returning from injury in early August, although he's looked good with 2.1 scoreless frames and five strikeouts across his last three appearances.

The Mets placed May on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right triceps inflammation, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
May was initially diagnosed with a low-grade triceps strain following his April 11 appearance against the Phillies, but after a few days of recovery time, he returned to action and avoided a trip to the IL. However, after May let in two runs in Monday's loss to Atlanta to bring his season ERA up to 8.64, he acknowledged that he had still been battling the triceps injury. The fact that the Mets are characterizing his latest triceps-related setback as inflammation rather than a strain bodes well for his chances of avoiding a long-term absence, but May will still have to miss at least the next two-plus weeks. New York called up Adonis Medina from Triple-A Syracuse to fill May's spot in the bullpen.

May (triceps) was diagnosed Wednesday with a stress reaction on the lower portion of his humerus and will be shut down from throwing for at least four weeks, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
May's triceps injury first surfaced during an April 11 appearance against the Phillies, but he missed only a few days before he was made available out of the bullpen. However, after giving up six earned runs in 6.1 innings over his subsequent six relief appearances, May acknowledged earlier this week that his triceps had still been bothering him. The Mets placed him on the 15-day injured list Tuesday and sent him in for an MRI, which revealed the stress reaction. Since he'll need additional time to build up his arm once he's cleared to throw again, May won't realistically make his return from the IL until at least mid-to-late June.

May is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his right arm Tuesday after struggling in his appearance Monday night against Atlanta, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. He gave up two runs on two hits and one walk in one inning.

Mets' Trevor May: Grabs first win
May (1-0) picked up the win in Monday's victory over the Cardinals despite giving up two runs on three hits and a walk in one inning of relief. He struck out one.
With the game tied 0-0 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, May took over from Max Scherzer and quickly made a mess of things, loading the bases with one out before Tyler O'Neill drove a two-run single to left field. Fortunately for May, the Mets rallied for five runs in the top of the ninth. The veteran reliever is struggling to begin the season with an 8.53 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and 5:2 K:BB through 6.1 innings, but he has stumbled into one win, one save and one hold in his six appearances.
