Angels' Mike Trout: Won't return to Cactus League play

Trout will not play in the Angels' remaining Cactus League games but will participate in the Freeway Series against the Dodgers before the start of the regular season, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Trout won't get any action in Arizona after returning from his time with Team USA in the World Baseball Classic. He officially ended the tournament by striking out against Angels teammate Shohei Ohtani in the championship game, but he did play well in the WBC with a .296/.406/.556 slash line. Trout should have his timing at the plate down by this point in spring, and another stellar season is expected as long as he can maintain reasonably good health.

Trout missed time last season with a rare back condition called costovertebral dysfunction, which is a chronic injury.
