Preston Tucker: Cut by Friars
The Padres released Tucker on Friday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Tucker had been on a rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso due to plantar fasciitis before being designated for assignment Wednesday. Now seemingly recovered from his injury, the 33-year-old outfielder will look to catch on with another franchise as an organizational depth piece. Tucker was slashing .293/.433/.565 through 240 plate appearances with El Paso.

Padres' Preston Tucker: Rehabbing at Triple-A
Tucker (foot) began a rehab assignment at Triple-A El Paso on July 14 and has gone 2-for-30 with 11:10 BB:K in nine games since joining the Padres' top affiliate.
Tucker has yet to make his 2023 debut for the Padres and hasn't appeared in the majors since 2018, but San Diego nonetheless chose to add him to its 40-man roster June 18 and simultaneously placed him on the 10-day injured list while he was tending to plantar fasciitis. The 33-year-old is back playing again and has shown strong plate discipline during his rehab assignment, but the Padres may want to see more hits fall in before reinstating him from the IL. Once activated, Tucker could serve as a fourth or fifth outfielder for San Diego.

Padres' Preston Tucker: Promoted, moves to IL
The Padres selected Tucker's contact from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday and subsequently placed him on the 10-day injured list with plantar fasciitis, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Tucker had an upcoming opt-out in his minor-league deal, and the foot injury will allow the Padres to add him to the big club without taking a spot on the 26-man roster. The 32-year-old has enjoyed a strong season at Triple-A El Paso with a .342/.468/.658 slash line and 10 home runs in 44 games.

Tucker signed a minor-league contract with the Padres on Monday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Tucker played exclusively at Triple-A Gwinnett in 2022, slashing .267/.347/.426 with nine home runs, 47 RBI, one stolen base and 37 runs in 75 contests. He'll be an unlikely candidate to crack the Opening Day roster and hasn't seen any big-league action since the 2018 campaign during stops in Atlanta and Cincinnati.

Braves' Preston Tucker: Back with Atlanta organization
Tucker agreed Wednesday with Atlanta on a minor-league deal, Double-A Mississippi broadcaster Chris Harris reports.
After three seasons abroad with the Kia Tigers of the Korea Baseball Organization, Tucker will continue his career stateside in 2022, rejoining one of the three MLB organizations he previously called home. Tucker, who had two separate stints with Atlanta in 2018, owns a .684 OPS across 651 plate appearances in parts of three seasons in the majors. The 31-year-old outfielder was one of the KBO's star hitters in his first two years with Kia, but after a major downturn in performance in 2021, he'll likely have to prove his worth at Triple-A Gwinnett before Atlanta entertains calling him up to the big club.

Preston Tucker: Re-signs with KBO team
Tucker re-signed Tuesday with the Korea Baseball Organization's Kia Tigers on a one-year, $1.05 million contract, Jeeho Yoo of the Yonhap News Agency reports.
Tucker returns to the Tigers for a third season after he hit .306 to go with 32 home runs, 113 RBI and 100 runs in 2020. The 30-year-old could revisit a return to North America next winter, but he would most likely have to settle for a minor-league contract even if he's able to turn in another strong season abroad in 2021.

Preston Tucker: Heading abroad
Tucker will sign a contract with the KIA Tigers of the Korea Baseball Organization, Dan Kurtz of MyKBO.net reports.
Tucker signed a minor-league deal with the White Sox in February and spent the first part of the 2019 season at Triple-A Charlotte. The 28-year-old has a career .222/.281/.403 major-league slash line over parts of three seasons with the Astros, Reds and Braves.

White Sox's Preston Tucker: Lands with White Sox

Tucker was able to win an outfield gig with the Braves last spring but struggled to produce and was later traded to the Reds before being dealt back to Atlanta again. Between the two organizations in 2018, Tucker slashed .229/.299/.404 across 184 plate appearances. His deal with the White Sox will afford him the opportunity to compete for a reserve job with the big club during spring training, though it's more likely than not that Tucker will be headed to Triple-A Charlotte when camp draws to a close.

Tucker was cast off the 40-man roster in order to presumably make room for younger prospects that the Braves will protect this offseason. The 28-year-old played in 97 games split between Atlanta and Cincinnati this past year, slashing .229/.299/.404 with six home runs and 27 RBI.

Tucker was cast off the active roster in order to make room for Joey Votto (lower leg), who was reinstated from the disabled list prior to Thursday's contest. In 17 games with the Reds after joining the organization in late July, Tucker has gone just 7-for-37 (.189 average) with two home runs and five RBI. Though he will likely return to the big-league team in the coming weeks, he may not receive enough playing time to be of much value down the stretch.
